Chapter 727: A crash? [3]
As soon as Zhou Shan entered the grand wedding hall, the faint hum of whispers ceased, and a wave of silence swept across the chamber.
Every noble, sect master, and high-ranking official rose to their feet and lowered their heads in respect.
Even those who carried pride in their own status did not dare to remain seated.
Because he is not just the Emperor's brother anymore... now he is a cruel man whose every step carried the weight of an empire.
As he reached the ceremonial platform, he turned to stand beside Zhou Hanyue, his bride.
His gaze flickered toward her for a moment and a faint smile played on his lips before he lifted his head to look at the vast assembly of guests before him.
"Honored guests, noble lords, sect masters, and all who have gathered here today... this Emperor is pleased to see you."
"This day marks not only a joyous occasion but the beginning of a new era."
"As you have all witnessed, the tides of fate shift swiftly, and with them, so must we. The empire stands strong, and together, we shall ensure it remains unshaken."
He paused for a second before his lips curled into a faint, confident smile. "Today, I wed Zhou Hanyue, and before all of you, I swear to uphold my duty as both husband and Emperor."
"May this union bring fortune to the dynasty and strengthen the bonds that hold our people together."
The officiant stepped forward, an elder of the Jade Dynasty Sect with a long beard and a dignified air.
He carried a ceremonial scroll and a small jade tablet which were the symbols of unity in their culture.
Looking at the hall, the official began "Today we gather to witness the union of two souls, bound by fate and sealed by the heavens."
"Zhou Shan, of unparalleled strength, and Zhou Hanyue, of unmatched beauty and grace, shall become one under the watchful eyes of the Heavens."
The ceremonial drum resounded and the steady beat of the drum filled the hall, marking the beginning of the sacred rites.
Zhou Shan and Zhou Hanyue were guided to the ceremonial altar, where a golden brazier burned brightly.
*THOOM*
However, suddenly a loud noise erupted from the outside, shaking the whole hall.
Hm? Zhou Shan's gaze narrowed 'What is happening outside?'
Hearing the commotion outside, Zhou Hanyue, who kept her head lowered, raised her gaze in surprise.
The golden lanterns in the hall swayed while the guests inside exchanged startled glances.
Nobles, sect masters, and officials turned toward the source of the disturbance in confusion.
Who dared to interrupt the Emperor's wedding?
"Aaarghh!"
"Stop!"
*sleesh*
"Who are- *woosh*"
The sounds of hurried footsteps, desperate shouts and the clash of steel filled the air.
*thoom*
Suddenly, the massive wooden doors of the wedding hall shattered and splinters flew in every direction as a body was flung inside, tumbling across the floor, reaching Zhou Shan's feet.
Zhou Shan's eyes squinted seeing his right man crashing into his wedding hall "Mo Zhen?"
He was keeping him out to guard the palace. But...
Through the destroyed door, a figure stepped in and Zhou Hanyue's eyes widened in recognition.
"H-Huh? Zhao Tian?"
"Tian?"
Velnorah's breath hitched for a moment as she looked at Zhao Tian and she stumbled back before gripping the chair for support.
Her whole world spun before a smile slowly bloomed on her lips "Tian..."
Li Jia's eyes shrank in utter shock as she looked at the handsome young man stepping into the wedding hall.
Before she could think further, her body reacted, and her legs took her to her man.
"Tian?"
Li Jia dashed through the crowd, pushing them away as she quickly reached him.
Without hesitation, she jumped into his arms and wrapped her arms around him.
"Tian.. Tian.. Tian..."
Zhao Tian's eyes quivered in intense pain as Li Jia suddenly hugged him, but he gritted his teeth.
"Haaa..." His fingers twitched before he slowly rested his free hand on her trembling back.
Li Jia's whole body shuddered as she gripped him desperately "Tian.. y-you.. are alive.. Tian..."
"Jia..."
*whoosh* But a high-pitched whistle echoed through the air and Zhao Tian's eyes glimpsed at the enormous axe slashing toward his face as Mo Zhen's body blurred in an instant.
Hugging Li Jia in his right hand, he raised his left hand as a sword appeared on his hand.
*CLANG*
A shockwave rippled out because of the collision, knocking over goblets and the loose petals from the wedding decorations scattered.
Mo Zhen's veins bulged and he tried to push his axe further and overpower him.
But Zhao Tian effortlessly twisted his sword and because of the momentum, Mo Zhen stumbled forward.
*sleesh*
A spray of blood splattered through the air as Zhao Tian's blade cleaved through Mo Zhen's arm.
"Arrrrghhh!" Mo Zhen cried in pain as he saw his right hand flying away.
The people present there shuddered in terror and moved away from the center of the hall.
Zhao Tian twisted the sword in his palm and plunged the blade right through Mo Zhen's face, slicing through his skull.
The steel carved cleanly through bone and flesh, splitting the man's head open from crown to jaw.
With that, in full motion, he pulled his sword down, cleaving Mo Zhen in two from face to torso.
*sleesh*
*SPLASH* Blood burst from the cleave and his body trembled for a moment before it fell on the ground with a wet thud.
The entire hall went silent seeing the gore except for the silent sobs of the woman in Zhao Tian's arm.
"Tian..."
Li Jia buried her face in his chest and continued to sob while Zhao Tian gently patted her back.
"Jia, I am alright..."
At this time, another figure entered the hall and everyone inside there instantly recognized her.
'The Sect master of Jade Eclipse Sect?'
'She is...'
After clearing the guards outside, Ji Shuang stepped in and her gaze fell on the corpse beside Zhao Tian's feet.
Zhao Tian continued patting Li Jia's back "Jia..."
Meanwhile, Zhou Shan's gaze condensed looking at Zhao Tian 'Damn that Rhudamanth bastard... he failed to kill this brat and also blowed his whole star somehow.'
'Useless.'
His eyes flickered to Ji Shuang in irritation 'And why the hell is she here?'
