Chapter 1226: Chaos-1

"What did they say? How could they not find our son after so many days?" Robert Green's wife said angrily, seeing her husband was still unable to find Clark even after spending enormous amounts of money.

There was more troubling news regarding his whereabouts. His last known location was in Southeast Asia in some upscale bar. The photo and videos seemed to be undeniable proof that he really ran away, enjoying the last of his family's wealth and not caring at all about his family's fate.

All the times he spent with him, cultivating him to take over the company seemed to be a lie. He also remembered how much he covered for both his son's sin and lust. Even when everything was normal, these 'complaints' would be a daily occurrence, so much so that he was getting tired of their antics.

It's not that he suddenly grew a heart symphathizing with their victims, as he too believed them to be beneath him but the frequency troubled him whether they were fit to inherit the vast empire that was now tethering on the brink of collapse.

"They are trying. I have recruited all the underworld to find a semblence of my son but so far there is no sign of him in the country. It's like he vanished that night."

"Don't lie to me. I know that look. There is something you are hiding from me."

"I-i.."

"Tell me! Do you know how worried I am? Everything is falling apart. The doctors are telling me that there is no hope of saving our Terry, as he had to live like a disabled person for the rest of his life! He hadn't even woken up from the coma, just like the other guards that were injured that day! How could they tout they have the best specialist if they couldn't even heal one person?" She was extremely frustrated.

If the attacker was found, she might take it out on them, skinning them alive until their last breath, but she couldn't even leave the hospital because there was no progress in his beloved son's condition. The stress aged her several years and she was like a crazy person, always yelling and shouting at staff and doctors for their incompentency.

"It's about Clark. There is a chance he fled the country and is working secretly behind the scenes, providing our enemies with information to take us down." It was his first time uttering his thoughts in words.

"What? How propesterous! He is our child; there is no way he could do something like this when he didn't lack anything."

"Didn't lack anything? You should listen to yourself. Don't assume; I don't know how you tried to suppress him trying to get Terry his place at the helm of the company. Do you think our second child is someone who is remotely competent to handle such a task?" Robert blurted out, losing his temper.

"I did it because you always cared about Clark and never paid attention to Terry. What if he refused to take care of his little brother? You have seen how much they don't get along!"

"That doesn't mean you could go behind my back and make such hasty decisions! We could have done something about it but no, you always try to take matter into your own hands!"

"Don't raise your voice at me! I am the second major shareholder of the enterprise. I have as much say as you when it comes to these matters. I did what I felt was right!"

"It might have made him snap like this! You know how he is. If he felt like losing, he would surely try to burn everything to the ground."

"It's not my fault that your son is crazy!"

"You!" Robert almost raised his hands but stopped himself. He knew his wife wasn't in her right mind. It was their secret that Clark wasn't their first son; he was a child from his previous marriage but it was not known to many people; even their kids didn't know about it and fortunately they looked quite similar to doubt anything.

"Come on! Hit me! He must be the person behind everything. He stole the secrets and now is coming to destroy everything. There is also a chance that he was the one that planned the attack on Terry."

Robert clenched his fist but he couldn't say anything to deny or admit it because they were in the dark. Whoever the attacker were, they masterfully kept themselves hidden and whenever he felt like one of his people was getting close to finding the truth, something would happen to them.

"I will take care of it. Just give me some time; there should be a reason behind everything. Maybe someone is deceiving us by playing these games. It seemed to well arranged for it to be a coincidence." He took a few breaths and hugged his wife tightly. He felt utterly useless as he vowed to bring the responsible one to her feet in three days; the deadline was long since over and he didn't even know about their identity.

"I.."

"I know. I am sorry too. Just get some rest." He escorted his wife to her designated room. He felt like it was time to personally call that person; he could feel they were helping him from the shadows but it didn't seem to be enough.

Wherever he went, he was hounded by the media by another new expose or some corruption charges led against one of his friends in the government. The news was becoming so sensationalized that even some people started distancing themselves from him in fear of getting implicated in his mess.

Just as he was debating what to do, he saw the recent number he saved light up the screen. He was surprised, then smiled before answering the call, "Your Majesty."

His tone was respectful and submissive, knowing this person was the only one that never left his corner. He gained a lot from her bestowal of knighthood, but he felt like the real perks had yet to reveal themselves!
