His Genius Wife Is A Superstar

Iris Long fell asleep in the executive van as soon as the phone call with JJ ended. Her body and mind were exhausted, but there was a slight smile on her lips.

Except for the excruciating acting lessons, she enjoyed every single second of her showbiz comeback, especially performing in front of a live audience. It didn't matter if there was only one person in the audience, she would perform with all her might. Fortunately, her fame hadn't diminished at all after her long hiatus. In fact, she seemed to have grown more famous after her new song, "I, the Dreamer" became a hit.

She didn't know how long she slept, but she woke up with a start when she felt too hot all of a sudden. Then she realized that she was floating. No, actually, she was being carried.

Her eyes snapped open.

Before she could react and fight for her life, a familiar deep, masculine voice spoke in her ear.

"Awake?"

She immediately relaxed.

"Darling?" she murmured, her drowsy brain gradually starting to clear up.

Her arms automatically wrapped around her husband's neck as she snuggled her head closer against his wide shoulder. She inhaled his scent, feeling comforted in an instant.

"I thought that you went on an emergency business trip today?" she asked.

His mouth curved into a mysterious smile, but she didn't see it.

"I feel hot," she muttered. "I'm sweating."

Her husband must have wrapped her in three layers of thick blankets before carrying her from the van outside to the inside of their home.

"I'll put you down first," Jin Liwei said.

"Hm."

He placed her down on the floor, making sure that she didn't lose her balance. Then he helped her remove all the blankets covering her body.

The butler seemed to appear from out of nowhere and took all of the blankets from him.

After smiling at the butler as thanks, Iris reached out and hugged her husband's neck again.

Jin Liwei smiled, a doting look in his eyes. He immediately understood what she wanted. He bent down and carried her again like a princess.

No, like a queen.

His queen.

"Where's Dom?" Iris asked, finally noticing that her best friend slash assistant was nowhere to be found.

"I told him to go inside earlier while I carried you," Jin Liwei said.

She didn't find anything wrong with what he said. She was about to ask him about what happened to his supposed business meeting today when her excellent hearing caught some suspicious noises ahead.

"Put me down," she said.

Jin Liwei acted reluctant. He loved carrying her like this. However, he still put her down. Seeing his wife's expression, he knew that the secret was now out.

Iris grabbed her husband's hand and pulled him. They walked for some time until reaching the hallway leading to the dining area.

The household staff looked panicked for a second upon seeing them before recovering and flashing the couple professional smiles.

"Welcome back, master, madam!"

The husband and wife nodded at them.

They were the ones whom Iris heard earlier. Although she couldn't hear what they were talking about clearly because of the distance, she could hear their excitement. Now that she saw their initial reaction upon seeing her and Jin Liwei, her suspicions grew.

She gave her husband a side-eye.

Jin Liwei tried to give her an innocent look, but she knew him long enough not to be fooled.

Nevertheless, she still trusted him.

She stopped walking and stood there, facing him. It looked like she was thinking about something. Then she smiled brightly.

"I'm hungry, that's why I headed straight to the dining area. I hope that the chef already prepared dinner."

Jin Liwei couldn't help but chuckle. He knew that his wife had already found out about his surprise, and yet she was still trying to pretend not to know anything. He looked at her with eyes filled with indulgence and love. He pulled her by the waist and gave her lips a quick peck. Then he held her hands.

"Let's go inside," he said. "I already instructed the chef to prepare dinner."

She smiled, hugging his arm.

He opened the door to the dining area. As soon as they stepped inside, party poppers exploded, showering them with confetti and streamers.

"Congratulations on a successful music comeback!"

"Number one in the music charts!"

"Bahahaha! As expected of Xiulan, my girl!"

"Congratulations, Madam!"

"Congrats, Mama!"

"Mama!"

"Ma!"

Iris bent down to catch her two sons who ran unsteadily towards her. Little Mochi and Little Matcha hugged her neck. They were followed by their Big Brother Junjun.

She also hugged her beloved godson and gave each of the children a kiss on the cheek.

Little Misha and Little Dima fought to escape their father's embrace, wanting to run towards their Auntie Xiulan as well.

Lu Zihao sneered at his two little rascals. "Dare to run like your cousins? You can't even stand on your own yet."

Long Jinjing shook her head beside him before pulling him to bring their twin sons to their auntie. Just look at the baby boys. They couldn't wait to hug their Auntie Xiulan just like their cousins, and yet their father was still mocking them. She fought the urge to roll her eyes at her husband.

Even the quiet and well-behaved Little Misha who usually stayed put was clamouring to go to his auntie. It just proved how much the children adored their Auntie Xiulan.

Lu Zihao and Long Jinjing weren't surprised at all.

Iris had always been like Little Misha and Little Dima's second mother. They also felt extremely close to her because they drank their aunt's breast milk for a long time. In fact, they probably drank more of her milk than their Jin cousins, their aunt's biological children.

Lu Zihao finally carried his fat twins to his little sister.

Iris also gave her twin nephews a hug and a kiss but immediately returned the babies to their father because it seemed that the babies had grown heavier again.

Next, she petted the cats and the dogs who clamoured around her with the children.

"Hehehe, Boss. What do you think? Surprised?"

Iris chuckled at Dom. "Yes, very surprised."

Jin Liwei also chuckled. He knew that his wife must have already discovered the surprise earlier in the hallway, but she still pretended to be surprised for the sake of everyone else.

He let her go so that she could greet everyone while he herded the children, cats and dogs inside with Lu Zihao.

"Congratulations, my dear," Huang Yuyan said, hugging her daughter-in-law.

"Thanks, Mom." Iris smiled.

She loved having her mother-in-law stay at their home. Fortunately, she had an excellent relationship with her in-laws. Huang Yuyan treated her like her own daughter, doting on her more than her on her own son, Jin Liwei.

The twins, Little Mochi and Little Matcha, also loved spending time with their grandmother.

What Iris appreciated was that Huang Yuyan never lectured her about being a good wife or a mother. Her mother-in-law just let her do her own thing. Apart from spending time as a family, they stayed away from each other's business.

This was probably why they could have such a harmonious life under one roof.

They respected each other's boundaries.

Iris felt thankful every single day for her husband's family who treated her like their own.

Grandpa Lu, of course, was also there. He lit up the atmosphere along with Dom. His loud laughter boomed throughout the dining area.

Jiang Ying Yue and Lin Yehan.

Wang Yingjie. It was such a good surprise that despite his busy schedule as a surgeon, he still found the time to attend gatherings with family and friends like this.

Yu Mo.

They were all there.

Even the equally busy Jin Chonglin and Chen Fei came together.

Jin Chonglin raised a wineglass to Iris. "You're making quite a killing for LXC Studio with your new song. Can't wait for the full album. Earn more for our company. We need the money for our upcoming production projects."

For some reason, Iris felt the strongest urge to punch her brother-in-law in the face. Fortunately, before she could act on the urge, Chen Fei moved quicker than her.

Chen Fei pinched her fiancé's waist.

"Ouch! Babe, stop it!" Jin Chonglin howled as if one of his limbs was being amputated.

Chen Fei rolled her eyes. "Stop exaggerating. I didn't even pinch you that hard. And can you just congratulate your sister-in-law properly? It's so tacky talking about money in situations like this. We're here to celebrate Xiulan's achievement, not to count the money she earns for your company!"

"I know already!" Jin Chonglin pouted. "Congrats, Sister Xiulan! There, happy now?"

Chen Fei rolled her eyes at him again. This man was hopeless. But what could she do? She loved this man.

Iris laughed at them. Watching them interact with each other was so amusing.

"Thanks, Brother Chonglin. Thanks for coming, Chen Fei."

"Oh, I'm here for the free food," Chen Fei said. Her tsundere side acting up again. "Your chef cooks the best. Congratulating you is only secondary. I'm starving."

Iris laughed again.

Enrique Valdez and JJ were also both present. Iris was surprised and delighted to see both of them. She even appreciated JJ's presence whose phone call earlier was annoying at best.

She chatted with them briefly.

Next, Long Tengfei and Yang Jiahui came along with Meimei.

As usual, Meimei looked like a zombie. Now that her webtoon, "Queen of the Shadows", had been optioned for a film adaptation by LXC Studio, she had become even busier working with the screenwriter to make sure that the film would give justice to her work.

Jin Liwei called for everyone's attention before gesturing for Iris to stand beside him. He wrapped her arm around her waist as he addressed everyone.
