GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Legion-6 agreed, "You're right. Slow and steady wins the race."

Legion-4 was still disgruntled. He said with longing, "I wonder if the pathway of slavery is like our aspect of infection. I want to know so bad."

Legion-1 was also full of anticipation. He said, "I want to find out too. But we have to be smart about this. We have too much to lose if we die."

The other consciousnesses agreed with him. So they walked nonchalantly to the exit while carrying three sealed boxes containing divine flesh under the armpit of their left hand.

The boxes were sealed tightly so the influence of the divine flesh within it was very low. It was unlike the box that the custodian used to tempt them.

The exit they took was in one of the many bathrooms lining the edge of the underground market. The bathroom contained a large mirror. The mirror looked ordinary until they touched it and input spiritual energy into it.

After the mirror was activated with spiritual energy, it began to glow, and its surface changed to reveal the destination. The mirror stopped reflecting the room it was currently in and instead showed a location far away from here.

They looked through the mirror and made sure that someone wasn't waiting at the other end to ambush them. Then they entered the mirror and came out from the other side.

After they exited the mirror, it dimmed and returned to being an ordinary mirror. They activated the spirit sense ability and used it to watch their surroundings as they left the bathroom the mirror was in.

The spirit sense couldn't give them accurate information about what they saw, but it could tell them if the people around them are godclads or not. Once they notice that a godclad is acting suspiciously, they will use power assessment on them.

It won't be their fault if they are ambushed or followed, but it will be their fault if they can't notice who is following them, identify their level of threat, and then respond accordingly.

Fortunately, there was no ambush waiting for them in the bathroom or in the bar where the bathroom was installed. They might not be so lucky outside the bar or on their way home, but they aren't going to wait until then to use what they bought.

Carrying divine flesh around the town is just asking for trouble. No matter how sealed it is, godclads have many ways to notice it. which will bring trouble to them.

That trouble will increase in magnitude drastically once it is noticed that they are carrying the divine flesh of two of the most hated pathways. So they planned to assimilate the divine flesh before leaving the bar.

To achieve that, they got a room in the bar and went upstairs to do the deed. As they climbed the stairs towards their room, they remained vigilant. But they were also excited.

They were all excited because the pathway of slavery is something that they have never had the opportunity to experience. Actually, they have only experienced one of the four pathways that they selected.

The pathway that they have experience with is the pathway of the telepath. From their experience, it is a pathway that flourishes in secret.

To be clear, the pathway of the telepath can only be used in secret. That is the only place it can flourish. Once other godclads find out that there is a telepath around, a telepath can forget about flourishing.

They know that for a fact. At that time, they were in a noble family when they became a telepath. Yet, they were still killed. That's how bad things are with being a telepath.

Now they are about to go along that same road and together with the pathway of slavery no less. A point can be made that they haven't learned their lesson yet. Because if they had, they would have run away from the pathway of the telepath and the pathway of slavery as soon as they encountered them.

That thought made them chuckle. They laughed to each other as they found their room and entered it.

The first thing they did was to lock the door. Then they secured the door with the table in the room.

The second thing they did was to examine the room for any spiritual influence and items. The presence of items like the gateway of the pathway of walkers and the hook of the pathway of the listeners would undermine the security of the room severely.

Once they were sure that they weren't being spied on, they closed the windows and the blinds. Then they sat in the bed and began the assimilation.

The assimilation was easy. All they had to do was open the boxes and touch the divine flesh. The divine flesh drilled into their bodies and settled into their existence.

There was a little resistance from the divine flesh, but it wasn't anything significant. The resistance didn't last long at all. Their existence adapted to the new divine flesh easily.

They assimilated the divine flesh of the pathway of undying first. This caused the color of their skin, hair, and eyes to change from red to gold.

But this change was temporary. After the assimilation was completed, the changes were reverted. Only the second pupil in their eyes remained.

Their skin is pale white, and their hair is red, but they have two pupils in their eyes and another pair of arms. One of the pupils is red while the other is gold.

This is a normal phenomenon that occurs when a godclad has two pathways. Their eyes, which represent the doorway to the soul, have to change to accommodate the extra pathway in their soul.

Their body has to change too so that the second pair of hands will be in charge of activating the abilities of the second pathway.

The major difference between them and others is that they have two consciousnesses that can see through the extra two pupils and use the new pair of arms separately instead of just one consciousness of a normal person.
