Chapter 2103 2103: The Black Market.
Legion was watched over a period of days by three people changing shifts. After five days of being watched without showing any adverse reactions, he was finally deemed fit to be left alone.
The first thing he did with his freedom was to visit the black markets to get the divine flesh of the path of undying.
He wore a dark cloak and a mask to hide his identity. Then he walked down to the underground market looking for the things he wanted.
The underground market is notorious, and the lamp bearers have been trying to destroy it for years. Unfortunately, they lamp bearers haven't been able to succeed despite knowing a lot about the black market.
The black market is very successful and popular among the community of godclads in Ivory Town. It was easily accessible, and there was no security, yet the organizer hasn't been found and apprehended over the years.
Even Legion, who was a new godclad, could gain access to the place. All he needed to do was find one of the doorways to the market.
These doorways are large mirrors scattered all over the city. Anyone who enters them will be able to arrive at the underground market.
These doorways are why the market hasn't been destroyed despite the lamp bearers best efforts. They are created by a godclad of the pathway of walking through their first rank ability.
This divine ability is called Gateway. With it, walkers can create objects that they can use to reach distant locations instantly.
The doorways are a pair. So when Legion entered one mirror hidden in the basement of a bar, he came out of the mirror placed in the underground market.
Throughout the whole process, he didn't meet the person who set up the underground market. Even if he did, it is unlikely that he will be able to capture the person because walkers are very good at escaping.
Legion didn't have any intention to capture the man. What they wanted was divine flesh of the pathway of undying and other pathways that they are interested in.
They walked around the underground market, going from stall to stall, looking around and occasionally asking about the items they saw. They were not the only one doing so.
The underground market only holds at night, yet there were many people. present shopping for whatever they needed.
Divine flesh isn't the only thing being sold. Information was also being sold. Information such as the recipe for the soul-calming potion needed to calm the mind before assimilation was the cheapest and easiest to acquire.
Information like the rituals needed for each pathway to advance was also being sold. Practically everything that a godclad would need to ascend was available.
Even slaves were being sold. If he were a killer who was about to experience a backlash because he hasn't been doing a lot of killing, he could buy the slaves to kill them and alleviate his condition.
There were many such unsavory products being sold at the black market. It is why the lamp bearers want to destroy it. Unfortunately, the best that they have been able to achieve is to capture these people and destroy this location.
The organizer always escapes no matter how many times the black market is raided. That means after a while, the black market will be opened in a new location.
Legion bought the rank 1 divine flesh of the path of undying, the path of the telepath, and the path of slavery.
There are a lot of paths that they would like to take. The clones argued about it for a long time before they settled on the path of slavery.
There is the pathway of the visionary, which they could use to see the path and present. There is the pathway of the historian, which could be used to summon historical figures as long as you know their entire history.
There is the pathway of knowledge, who are the most intelligent and can even utilize the abilities of others as long as they know how those abilities work. This pathway was especially enticing since they know how a lot of abilities work.
There is the pathway of imagination whose godclads are masters of illusions and also have the ability to turn illusions into reality. The godclads of this pathway are fond of copying the abilities of others through their illusions too. It was appealing to them since they are greedy for abilities.
There is the pathway of destruction, which can match the pathway of killing in terms of firepower but is not quite as good as killing people.
There is the pathway of the telepath who can read minds and is very good at manipulating others. They can also attack minds. It is why they are called mind hunters.
There is their preferred pathway of travelers which they had their eye on because they are the fastest. They wanted that pathway and had decided to get it but they had to give it up for various reasons.
There's also the pathway of the giants. The godclads of that pathway are the strongest physically.
Lastly, there is the pathway of error, whose godclads are good at stealing, including the ability of others. They are so good that they can steal the memories and identities of others.
They had a lot of options to choose from, many of which they were familiar with simply because they had used those pathways in their future. But they settled on the path of slavery, which is a pathway that they have never used.
There were a lot of factors that affected which pathway they chose other than familiarity. Familiarity is not actually the most important factor. It is the least important factor that affected their decision.
The most important factor is if the pathway has a god or not. A pathway with a true god means that the top of the pathway is blocked. It means that there is a terrifying predator sitting at the top of the ladder waiting for weaklings to ascend the pathway only to eat them.
What do you think?
