Chapter 70: Since We’re Here, Let’s Get 2 Generators!

Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Since We’re Here, Let’s Get 2 Generators!

At this moment, Lin Yue could hardly contain the joy inside him.

The two big red rectangular boxes in front of him made him unusually excited.

Bai had no idea what was going on. To it, these red things weren’t food or drink, so why was its owner so happy?

"Bai, do you know what these are?" Lin Yue took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down.

"Purr?" Bai was hungry. It stared at Lin Yue’s hand, wanting something to eat, completely uninterested in what Lin Yue was saying.

"They’re gasoline generators! And not just one, but two of them!"

"Purr purr!" Bai’s stomach growled. It rubbed against Lin Yue’s leg, still not comprehending engines, but understanding lamb skewers very well.

Lin Yue patted Bai’s head and took out two lamb skewers, thinking a celebration was in order.

Bai happily munched away, quite pleased.

Lin Yue stroked the two gasoline generators and started eating the lamb skewers as well.

When he first saw them, he thought his eyes were playing tricks on him. After all, gasoline generators were incredibly hard to come by, especially in this downtown area.

After spending two survival points to appraise them, Lin Yue was delighted to see that the system showed these two generators were still in good condition.

"20kw capacity, and they’re silent too. I really found a treasure."

Lin Yue placed the two very heavy machines into his Storage Space, feeling a sense of satisfaction wash over him.

As long as he could find gasoline, his electric age would begin!

Then things like light bulbs would be a given, as well as those cool drink cabinets and freezers from the convenience store, single-cooler air conditioners—all could be put to use.

"So next, finding gasoline should be the focus."

Lin Yue walked to a fire truck nearby and located the fuel tank cap.

Upon unscrewing it, Lin Yue was disappointed to find that the gasoline inside was all dried up.

The same was true for the other truck.

Well, it had been decades.

The fire trucks were quite large; Lin Yue did want to bring them to the Shelter, but even if he emptied his Storage Space, it couldn’t fit these massive vehicles.

Looks like he’ll have to expand the Storage Space later if he wants these robust trucks by his doorstep.

The hoses and other equipment on the fire trucks didn’t have much of value, and most were weathered and damaged from being exposed to the air, so Lin Yue didn’t bother taking them.

Lin Yue rummaged around the area for a while and unexpectedly found two sets of spotlights.

Two in each set was quite useful.

After appraising them, he found one good and one bad. He placed them into his Storage Space and then opened the door to the fire station’s office.

Dust had piled up several centimeters thick in the office, and Lin Yue covered his nose as he walked in, only to crush the floorboards beneath his feet.

"Why would a fire station have this kind of flooring..." Lin Yue muttered helplessly, beginning to look for anything useful.

[LCD Monitor (Damaged)]

[Laptop (Damaged)]

...

Lin Yue appraised every seemingly good item in this nearly two hundred square meter office.

However, reality was harsh.

"Even if they’re damaged, better than nothing since I’m already here."

Lin Yue put all the computers and similar equipment of various sizes into his Storage Space. Upon tallying, he had collected a total of 9 screens and 8 towers.

In the end, he even took down a few cameras from the walls.

Looking around, there were still a few good things.

[You obtained Glass Ashtray X6]

[You obtained Ceramic Cup X4]

[You obtained Safety Helmet X3]

[You obtained Fire Axe X2]

[You obtained Safety Rope X2]

Having scavenged through everything, what remained in the room were just scraps and garbage.

Upon re-exiting the fire station, Lin Yue collected two more rolling shutter doors.

Though they were broken, they were still made of metal after all.

After completing these tasks, he and Bai returned to the vicinity of the pet store from before.

There weren’t many buildings around the fire station; it was too open. If a Monster Winged Dragon appeared, it would not be a good place to counterattack.

Next to the pet store was a Western restaurant, where Lin Yue headed straight to the kitchen.

A decaying odor continuously wafted into his nose as Lin Yue furrowed his brows, searching for anything usable.

However, it seemed like something once made a nest in this kitchen, leaving droppings and fur everywhere. The original kitchenware was all rotted beyond use.

Lin Yue opened a cupboard, only for the door to fall to the floor.

But the plates inside were still usable, with only a few broken.

[You obtained Ceramic Plate X30]

He opened another cupboard.

[You obtained Glass Goblet X10]

Other knives and forks were too rusted, and Lin Yue decided not to take them, but this hand-cranked coffee grinder looked fine.

Takedown.

Since he was already here, it would be a shame to leave without taking anything.

As Lin Yue was scavenging, Bai suddenly scampered in.

"Purr!"

That’s the enemy alert!

When Bai made this sound, it had never been wrong.

Soon enough, Lin Yue heard strange howling noises and the familiar sound of wings flapping!

More Monster Winged Dragons! Why were there so many of these creatures? Wasn’t there anything else on Earth?

Speaking of other things...

There did seem to be lots of bugs, things that looked like big rats, and that monster as big as a mountain.

But none of those were visible now.

Otherwise, he would have already heard the earthquakes from their steps.

Yet, compared to them, Lin Yue would rather face Monster Winged Dragons.

After all, he had managed to kill one, while the numbers of those rats and bugs were overwhelming, and just the thought of them was unsettling.

The wing-flapping sounds outside grew more frequent, and Lin Yue realized he had no way of getting out of here.

He also realized that it was the carcasses of the two Monster Winged Dragons he killed earlier that attracted this swarm.

If there had been some soil nearby, Lin Yue would have buried them...

But saying that was useless now.

Taking a deep breath, Lin Yue gently placed the Iron Spear on the ground and lowered himself, supported by his elbows, slowly crawling from the kitchen to the store’s interior.

Soon, he reached the window again, and the indescribably awful howling grew even clearer.

Through the speckled glass, Lin Yue could now clearly see that the initially mere two Monster Winged Dragons had turned into nearly a hundred!

Lin Yue widened his eyes, watching them fighting over the two carcasses, tearing each other apart!

With more and more Monster Winged Dragons collapsing, they too became new food...

Lin Yue felt his scalp tingle, realizing he was stuck there for the time being.

"Purr," Bai suddenly made a soft sound from a corner a few meters away from Lin Yue.

That was... a staircase!

Lin Yue slowly stood and crouched again, tiptoeing towards it, looking up.

The second floor?

The second floor, what’s there?
