Chapter 83: Counterattack, Large-scale Offensive on the Cave Territory
Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Counterattack, Large-scale Offensive on the Cave Territory
Just as Rosen rushed back to the territory at the fastest speed, he saw a shocking scene.
A massive breach had collapsed within the Beastman Territory, from which countless worms of the Earth Cavern Race were pouring out, their numbers reaching tens of thousands, enough to send chills down one’s spine.
Fortunately, Rosen had previously purchased thirty thousand high-level units from the Lord Market, otherwise, the territory would have been unable to hold out by now.
He still needed to thank Nangong Wan for that.
The two armies had just clashed, and the Earth Cavern Race had not yet shown their advantage. Their area of expertise was underground, and their combat strength had noticeably decreased above ground.
The Beastman Warlords led their forces of a hundred into the enemy, splitting the dense army apart and then adopting a strategy of focused attacks.
The valiant aliens and Iron Blood Warriors charged forward, tearing apart the weaker and airborne worms, while the Hulu Brothers each displayed divine power, rain and thunder, knives and staffs continuously striking down on the enemy.
The high-level units purchased from the Lord Market began to show their prowess against the Earth Cavern Race, which lacked a home-field advantage.
Meanwhile, water spiders capable of diving attacked the Naga Race territory, only to be blocked by the Sea Sirens who left the barracks to intercept them.
The Poison Fin Dragon spewed acid furiously, and the highly corrosive acid water stained the sea surface, causing the water spiders crawling on them to shrink into balls due to corrosion.
Rosen promptly transformed back into human form and stood on the main city’s platform, meeting his parents who were observing the enemy situation.
"How long has the Earth Cavern Race been attacking?" Rosen asked his father.
"About ten minutes, are these the Earth Cavern Race?"
"Yes, that’s their race’s name. I had investigated before and found their territory in a cavern twenty kilometers away. I didn’t expect they had dug a tunnel leading to our territory long before." Rosen spoke as he looked towards the ongoing battle below.
In a war of such magnitude, the fastest resolution was to arrange troops tactically, using numbers to overwhelm numbers; going solo would actually be slower.
Rosen intended to stand on the platform, ensuring the safety of the main city, and eliminate the invading Earth Cavern Race around the main city.
After clearing away dozens of worms approaching the main city, Rosen ordered his troops:
"Beastman Warlords, lead your troops to scatter the Earth Cavern Race and clear space for the rear armies!"
The head-on collision of the two armies resulted in heavy casualties, but Rosen’s territorial forces numbered thirty thousand, three times that of the enemy.
They could easily use a three-to-one ratio to minimize more deaths.
In terms of advantage, they had already gained significant upper hand.
Diablo, with its enormous body and supercharged energy blasts, was commanded by a Beastman Warlord to act as a mobile artillery unit, dispersing as many of the Earth Cavern Race as possible.
All the Diablos continuously emitted energy blasts, with black currents sweeping away the weaker Earth Cavern Race, while the stronger ones, heavily damaged, scattered one by one.
With enough space cleared, the idle rear armies also had the chance to engage.
The rear armies surged forward, and the Earth Cavern Race, which had previously barely held out, began to suffer faster casualties.
In just thirty minutes, they were in complete disarray.
Rosen also observed that the number of Earth Cavern Race emerging from the collapsed tunnel had significantly decreased.
Soon, like a dried-up stream, they no longer emerged.
"It seems this wave of invasion is over. In that case, it’s time to attack the Earth Cavern Race," Rosen declared.
Rosen had previously scouted the Earth Cavern Race’s territory, where only some low-level units remained to guard, having lost their main forces to his army’s earlier assault.
Taking advantage of their weakened state, Rosen had no intention of allowing his enemy the chance to recover.
Fortunately, the collapsed pit also provided an opening for them to invade the Earth Cavern Race.
Tens of thousands of troops charged through the tunnel, advancing toward the Earth Cavern Race’s territory!
Upon arrival, a thousand low-level units surged out without hesitation, with greater momentum than during Rosen’s previous raid.
After all, with the enemy at their doorstep, the situation was entirely different.
The Earth Cavern Race’s main force had already been annihilated, let alone this group of ants, who were quickly wiped out by Rosen’s advancing troops.
The army smoothly advanced into the interior of the Earth Cavern territory.
Though in the home ground of the Earth Cavern Race, Rosen’s forces found their combat power significantly reduced, slowed by the sticky terrain and the air still filled with residual toxic fog.
Slowed down, the troops also faced the threat of gradual health depletion.
Unfazed, Rosen continued to direct his troops to charge forward, battling their way through.
Previously, Rosen had noted that his advancing units, on the frontline against the Earth Cavern Race, had many already seeded with parasites, destined to transform into Earth Cavern Race units.
Rather than add another enemy later, he decided to use them as cannon fodder, pushing them toward the brink of death.
The Earth Cavern Race and host-parasitized units fought one another, both sides falling, with the Earth Cavern Race’s losses greater in number.
Rosen also led a small detachment, destroying barracks along the way, denying the enemy any chance of recovery.
Finally, they reached the hero altar.
From beneath the ground near the hero altar, emerged a blood-red beetle the size of a small hill.
The massive beetle continuously laid eggs, from which small beetles hatched and charged at Rosen’s troops.
The small beetles were only the size of a head, with combat capabilities weaker than first-level units, but they made up for it in sheer numbers.
This summoning ability was even more formidable than Mavi’s.
Goddess of Vengeance, Rosen’s companion, found her Xiaohai quickly reduced in numbers by the overwhelming swarm of giant beetles.
Rosen swept his three scarlet tails behind him, each strike wiping out a large area.
With a wave of his arm, a large number of troops surged forward, blocking the menacing beetle army.
"This is a level five main city, there should still be three heroes hiding in the shadows. Given a hero’s prowess, this territory must have prioritized summoning them."
"There were no heroes in the previous invading main forces."
Scanning his dark surroundings, Rosen’s three scarlet tails refrained from further swatting beetles, instead probing into the shadowy corners.
Sure enough, barely had he probed when a three-meter-tall zombie erupted from the shadows.
This zombie was called the ’Second Body,’ a parasitic vine capable of controlling hosts, belonging to one of the Earth Cavern Race’s heroes.
The zombie under its control was a tyrant, with attributes comparable to a regular hero, and with combat talents to boot.
Even aliens and Iron Blood Warriors were somewhat outmatched before it.
However, hundreds of aliens and Iron Blood Warriors rushed forward, engaging in a fierce battle with the tyrant.
Aliens suffered casualties, while the tyrant also fell, its body shattered.
Yet, at that moment, the green vine, like maggots, extruded from the tyrant’s corpse, and unnoticed, bore into an alien, taking control!
Rosen noticed that it was the Alien Queen that had been taken control of, an exceedingly rare entity among alien units, towering over regular aliens.
The Alien Queen’s combat power was formidable, and even a few Iron Blood Warriors couldn’t handle it, easily being torn apart.
But soon the Alien Queen too was overwhelmed by the vast number of troops, dying violently on the spot.
However, the green vine seemed invulnerable to harm, continually parasitizing new hosts.
What do you think?
