Chapter 2930: Nurturing

"Hiss, hiss hiss..."
Several pale purple tentacles shot out from within the flesh cocoon and wrapped around the box.
"Bang!!!"
The box shattered under the entanglement of the purple tentacles, revealing the pale purple crystal stones hidden inside.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!!!"
The tentacles crushed the purple crystals into fragments, then wrapped around them one by one, absorbing them into the pulsating flesh cocoon.
Emery observed the flesh cocoon for a moment. Standing still, he closed his eyes to condense his spirit, as if communicating with the cocoon.
A moment later, Emery reopened his eyes, turned to look at the alien patriarch Malcolm, and said, "You have done well. For the birth of the Queen Bug, I will need more crystal stones and to devour more creatures. Do you understand?"
Malcolm’s eyes flickered with confusion for a second before he respectfully nodded and replied, "Yes, Honored One."
"And what about the black crystals I asked you to find?"
"Yes, Honored One. We’ve found the black crystals you mentioned, but collecting them will still take some time."
"Hmm. Make sure those crystals are well protected. Go do it."
"Yes, Honored One. We’ll take our leave."
Only after all the aliens had exited the cavern did Emery gently lick his lips, looking at the flesh cocoon in front of him and murmuring, "Don’t be in such a hurry. Very soon, you’ll have immense power."
Right behind Emery, Charlene stood within a transparent spirit barrier.
Inside the barrier space, she could clearly see all of Emery’s actions and hear everything he said, while Emery could not perceive Charlene’s presence at all.
Fang Heng also stepped out from a secondary space projection and entered the shared barrier with Charlene, standing by her side.
"Looks like he’s cultivating the Seed of Ouroboros."
Charlene’s gaze was fixed on the flesh cocoon in the corner of the rock wall as she continued, "At the moment, the Seed of Ouroboros is only in the early stage of fusion, still very weak. If we take him out now and bring Emery back to the Federation for judgment, our mission will be complete..."
Just as Charlene was about to complete the mission and destroy the cocoon, she was stopped by Fang Heng, who reached out his hand.
"Wait, don’t rush."
Charlene was suddenly pulled back by Fang Heng’s hand, her heart skipping a beat.
As the inheritor of Black Castle, everyone had always treated her with utmost respect. She had never been handled so rudely. Her instincts reacted faster than her consciousness, and she almost unleashed her mental strength in retaliation, but her awareness quickly forced her to suppress it.
In an instant, her mental strength surged and became restless, her cheeks slightly flushed.
After calming herself down, Charlene regained her composure and looked at Fang Heng with a puzzled expression, "What is it?"
"Don’t you find it interesting? What is Emery really trying to do with all of this? And based on their conversation just now, what exactly are those black crystals he asked the aliens to collect?"
"It’s not important. Maybe some anti-Western District Federation group, or some other hostile faction, or perhaps he just holds a grudge against the Western District Federation..."
Charlene’s expression remained indifferent, showing no interest in Emery’s plans. "As long as we bring him back, we’ll get everything out of him eventually."
"Alright then, I’ll just be direct. I have a better idea."
Charlene looked even more confused. She turned to Fang Heng and asked, "A better idea? What do you mean?"
Instead of answering, Fang Heng asked, "Let me ask you something first. How long have you been with the Federation?"
"It’s been more than half a year."
Fang Heng smiled and said, "So, it’s been over six months, and you still haven’t completed the unlocking ritual, right?"
Charlene pressed her lips together slightly, starting to realize what Fang Heng was getting at. She nodded and said, "The Federation has been dragging things out with excuses, and we’ve faced resistance from several departments. As outsiders, I can understand that we haven’t gained their trust."
"More importantly, our strength makes them afraid."
Fang Heng smirked and followed up on her words, "I’d say the military department is still somewhat cooperative, but even they can’t influence the decisions of the entire Western District Federation. And with the Inspection Department and all kinds of other agencies working behind the scenes, it’s clear the Federation doesn’t want to give us the unlocking ritual so easily."
"That’s true." Charlene looked at Fang Heng, still unsure where he was going with this. "But what does this have to do with our current mission?"
"Because this is a semi-game world, and it can threaten the real world."
Charlene furrowed her brows slightly.
Fang Heng continued, "Emery seems to be trying to cultivate the Seed of Ouroboros here. We don’t know what his next move will be, but we could try to nurture and guide him, let him expand the threat of Ouroboros into the real world."
"Fang Heng, that’s very risky." Charlene nodded. "The Federation’s Star Map system is still under construction. Once the Seed of Ouroboros fully enters the real world, our power will be severely weakened there. We might not even be able to handle him. The whole world could be in danger..."
"If we can’t handle it, then those idiots in the Western District Federation definitely can’t. Don’t you think that when they’re facing a threat they can’t handle, they’ll finally come to us for help?"
Charlene turned to look at Fang Heng in surprise.
Only now did she truly understand what Fang Heng was trying to say.
Raise a threat to increase your value.
"That’s very dangerous. If anything goes wrong, and the Seed of Ouroboros spreads in our world, the entire world could be wiped out."
Fang Heng snorted lightly.
"Hmph. With the Federation’s attitude, if we don’t push them to the edge, they’ll never willingly hand over the unlocking ritual."
Charlene frowned slightly.
She had been working with the Western District Federation even earlier than Fang Heng, and she knew what he said was true.
But still...
Fang Heng suddenly said, "One more thing. Do you really believe what the Western District Federation claims?"
"Believe? What do you mean?"
"Their stated purpose for building the Star Map network."
"To prevent the Black Fog from invading and protect the people..." Charlene murmured. "I believe that’s part of their goal, but more importantly, it’s about power. If they manage to complete the star map, the Western District Federation will have absolute military deterrence. It could replace the Central Federation and become the dominant power in this world."
"I heard that the recent Pillars of Black Fog in the game are related to the Federation. The Western District Federation supposedly released them to push forward the star map project. At first, I wasn’t sure, but after seeing the Federation’s black crystal core domain today, I’m almost certain—the Western District Federation has already gained partial access to the semi-game world. The recent events are definitely connected to them."
What do you think?
