Chapter 577: The Horde
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A series of explosions occurred as the Domain's Barrier was hit by the explosives that the Vampires dropped from the sky. However, even after all of that, there was still one last barrier that didn't shatter.
However, Statham wasn't too worried as they had plenty of time. This shelter was not going anywhere after all.
"Those flames might be our bane but that's not enough…" Statham sneered as he calmly gave his command.
"Block those flames…" He then gestured toward the Blood Knights, who stepped forward with large, jagged shields infused with ice magic.
The shields were filled with ice energy, forming a protective barrier that could ward off the heat coming from the flames.
"Advance under the shield wall. The fire won't consume you so easily now."
The vampires roared in response, resuming their assault.

Just as the Blood Legion drew closer and started destroying the barriers and the gate itself, the sound of rifles rang out.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
From the multiple watchtowers above, the Eclipse Domain's snipers started firing at them.
But these were no ordinary bullets.
The moment the shots struck the vampires, their regeneration halted. Blackened wounds refused to heal, and the vampires staggered as a pain unlike anything they had felt in a long time coursed through them.
"Silver bullets!"
Statham's eyes squinted. "They're using silver! Careful…" He reminded.
Silver — one of the most lethal materials to the undead.
Unlike conventional ammunition, it disrupted a vampire's regenerative abilities, making even a single shot lethal if untreated.
The Blood Legion faltered as volley after volley of silver bullets rained down upon them.
"Argh!"
"I can't regenerate!"
"Their aim is getting good!"
Vampires collapsed one by one and their bodies would writh in agony as the silver corroded their insides. Even the elite Vampire Knights, with their enhanced durability, struggled to maintain their advance.
Statham frowned as he observed their firing rate. It seemed that they had thousands of bullets prepared for his legion...
However, he wasn't ordering them to retreat… He still had another plan after all.
"It seems this will take some time. But time is something we have plenty of."
"Endure it!" He shouted as he gestured for the few Vampire Knights who were in front to proceed with their plan.
He clenched his fist, as he watched many of his Vampire Knights die. However, these sacrifices are necessary for the success of his plan.
"Let the siege continue. We will bleed them dry. And when their defenses falter, I will personally deliver Shane's people to ruin."
The battle raged on as the Vampires no longer cared for their safety…

Statham continued to watch his special group of Vampire Knights, waiting for their signal.
"Faster…" He muttered to himself.
While the rest of Blood Legion distracted the defenders of the Domain, this group was moving hurriedly. Cloaked in stealth mantle, they crept along the walls of the Eclipse Domain.
Each of them carried a dark, crystalline orb that seemed to contain a high density of blood.
These were Special Zombie Lures — ancient cursed artifacts crafted to manipulate the dead.
Once activated, their aura would ripple across miles, summoning every undead creature in the vicinity. Mindless zombies would obey their overwhelming desire for flesh and blood!
"Position them well... Ensure the shelter has no escape." He softly muttered to himself.
The Vampire Knights did as they had originally planned. One by one, the Lures were placed and was hidden very well.
It was to ensure that the Survivors inside wouldn't be able to remove or destroy them.
"The First team is done…"
"Third team. We're also done here."
"Fifth team… Lures have been planted."
The vampire knights grinned as they savored the thought of the chaos that would soon unfold.
A moment later, a soft crimson glow emitted from the Lures before disappearing…
Just like that, all the Lures had been placed.
"It is done…" the lead vampire knight whispered and it was heard by Statham himself even with their distance.
It was the signal that Statham had been waiting for.
Statham didn't miss it and smiled in satisfaction.
The plan was complete.
Without hesitation, he raised his hand and it was enough to send a message.
The remaining vampires immediately responded, breaking formation and retreating into the darkness…
The Vampire Knights also obeyed without question.
Just like that, the vampires withdrew, vanishing into the surrounding wilderness. However, their presence was still there and the Survivors in the shelter could feel it even if they couldn't see them.
The snipers above the walls were momentarily stunned.
"They're retreating?" Ibrahim, one of the marksmen muttered in confusion… He felt that with the momentum of the Vampires, they shouldn't stop at all.
However, even if some of them felt that something was off, many of the Survivors still felt that they had succeeded.
"We did it! They couldn't breach the walls!" another cheered.
"Haha… Take that, Vampires! Coming here since Shane just left… Dream on!"
Celebration immediately began through the defensive lines.
Many soldiers raised their fists in victory, believing they had successfully repelled the siege. Some even laughed in relief, patting each other on the back.
In short, the tension they experienced just now had finally eased.
But within the crowd, there were a few who felt something off…
"That doesn't make sense. They were pushing hard. They wouldn't retreat without reason." Diana muttered from the center of the command.
The Vampire seemed to have a specific plan in mind.
Nonetheless, she had to focus on their current situation.
"Repair the barriers immediately…" Diana said to Edwin, the butler. The barrier's problem seemed to be related to Power Cores, Zombie Cores, Fuels, or even Spirit Stones. Edwin had access to all of those things, and he should be able to handle it.
However, in case of emergency, Diana also contacted Mr. Wadsworth in the Springriver Manor to be prepared just in case they needed some assistance.

For now, however, the Eclipse Domain was still on guard in case the Vampires decided to come back.
The spotlights they have also started scanning the treeline, but there was no sign of movement.
No more signs of them as if they've really left...
But then, just like what Diana feared, it began.
Rooaaar!
A familiar deep roar rumbled from afar. It was only one at first…
However, more and more of them started roaring… It just grew louder and soon, the scouts noticed the presence of a huge Zombie Horde!
"What the hell is that?"
From beyond the field, thousands of Zombies emerged. Rotting bodies, exposed bone, and with varying sizes!
Not just that… Some of the Zombies moved on all fours, others would leap, and some of them were even flying!
There were giant zombies, mutated Zombies Leaders, and other High-Tier Zombies that they would rarely see were all gathered to attack them!
This was worse than the Zombie Waves arranged by the system.
After all, the system would not just send them multiple Zombie Leaders at once…
But right now, it even felt like they were seeing 10 worth of Zombie Waves attacking them at once!
"This isn't good." Diana muttered as she realized why the Vampire's retreated. They seemed to have sensed the upcoming Zombie Wave or perhaps, they even invited these undead creatures!
She couldn't even see the end of them.
The Zombies kept pouring from the horizon like a flood, their numbers stretching far beyond what the eye could see!
***
In the meantime, Statham was celebrating after seeing this result!
His Zombie Lures had worked far too well.
Zombies of all types had been drawn from distant ruins, forested regions, and abandoned cities—every one of them was definitely here to destroy the Eclipse Shelter.
"Sound the alarms!" Diana shouted. "Prepare for a second wave!"
Just like that, Diana ordered all the marksmen to start eliminating the Zombies once they got into their range.
In just a few moments, the snipers fired without hesitation, piercing or explosive bullets blasted through the air.
Heads exploded, torsos ruptured, and limbs were blown away as they started to chop down the number of the Zombies event for a bit.
Yet, for every zombie that fell, ten more replaced it.
"They just keep coming!"
In just a few more moments, the Automated Turrets was finally in range. Soon, they also started sending a hailstorm of rounds into the horde.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
The automated defenses shredded the frontlines, severing limbs and tearing through their rotten flesh. But the sheer numbers were overwhelming.
It didn't take long before they had to activate another line of defense. Several bags of fuel were soon thrown before Captain Flint ordered his men, "Deploy the flamethrowers!"
With this command, fire rained upon the advancing dead!
With the help of the fuel they have thrown, the cursed corpses ignited in a flash. The flames consumed them, reducing their withered bodies to ash.
Yet the horde's advance didn't stop!
They did not feel any pain, and some of them were resistant to it!
Soon, the defense on the wall intensified.
Explosions erupted as grenades were hurled into the crowd, sending limbs and fragments flying in the air…
"Kill them all!"
"They do not regenerate like the Vampires! We can kill them!"
"Aim at their heads!"
The soldiers or guards on the wall shouted.
However, at this time, the Giant Zombies finally arrived!
What do you think?
