Chapter 15: The two kids met

Cecilia frowned. Before she could say a word, Rick Morrison weakly said, "Frank, don’t make things difficult for Cecilia."

His lips were pale, and he was so thin that he looked unrecognizable.

He barely could sit up and had no strength, his arms trembling and weak.

Looking closely at his facial features, he faintly resembled Cecilia.

Cecilia hurriedly helped him up, concerned as she said, "Uncle Rick."

He scanned her up and down, his eyes turning red. "Cecilia, you can speak now, and your voice is just like your mother’s. That’s great."

His voice trembled as he continued, "You’ve suffered outside all these years."

At that moment, her stepmother Mariah spoke up, "Cecilia, your uncle has been worried about you all these years. You wouldn’t want him to die just because we can’t afford treatment, right?"

Only then did she notice Mariah was there.

She thought to herself as she frowned.

’A heart disease...’

Mariah rambled on, "Cecilia, as you can tell, your uncle’s surgery is so difficult that no doctor here was confident to do it. The only doctor willing to do is someone we’ve been trying to contact through all connections for a long time. We initially planned to ask the Kingsleys for help with the costs..."

She sighed as she continued, "But now, Samuel and your sister fought because of you. He doesn’t want to get engaged with her anymore, but your uncle is in a dire situation. We can only rely on the money in the funds. Your uncle’s fate is in your hands now, right?"

Frank snorted. "Don’t try begging her. She’s just a heartless ingrate!"

With them playing the good and the bad cop, Cecilia’s head was spinning.

She stepped out to call a friend overseas.

Three minutes later, she returned to the room.

"I won’t return the funds!"

Frank furiously pushed the flower vase off the bedside table in huge anger.

"You unfilial child! Ingrate! I regret having you!"

As he was about to hit Cecilia, Rick pushed himself up so hard to protect her.

Cecilia quickly supported him in the arm, her eyes turning cold.

Rick took in a deep breath as he spoke up, "Lilian left those funds for Cecilia. My illness isn’t worth treating, so don’t cause trouble for Cecilia any more... Cough..."

Cecilia’s heart ached. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to pay for the surgery, but she had just promised one of her friends overseas, who was a medical genius, to help. Being a loyal fan of hers, he had readily agreed to help out without any payment.

Hearing a notification from her phone, Cecilia read the message and was relieved.

[Riane, I’ve reviewed the check-up report. You can trust me with the surgery!]

He was a genius in heart diseases, with a zero-failure rate so far.

Seeing Cecilia reading her phone, Frank couldn’t contain his anger.

"You’re still playing with your phone at a time like this?!"

Back in Steven’s room in the hotel.

"Young Master Alex, didn’t you finish your lunch? If you waste food like this, you’ll get a beating."

Alex’s face was cold as he stared at the spoiled food. However, he remained silent.

Seeing his silence, the nutritionist provoked him further. "You better watch out. You won’t grow up well if you don’t eat enough, and you’ll probably die early like your poor mother!"

Hearing her mention his mother, Alex finally reacted. He clenched his jaw and knocked the food over.

His mother didn’t die!

The nutritionist looked at the mess on her uniform. She was infuriated as she yelled, "How rude! If you won’t eat, then starve!"

With that, the two maids left, leaving Alex to drink some water from the bathroom.

For two consecutive days, they had served him spoiled food.

Famished, he decided to sneak out for some food.

Before, he could talk to that girl next door for help. Now that she had moved, he can only rely on himself.

Although he was usually strong, the thought made him feel quite depressed.

Quietly opening the room door, he saw several bodyguards by the elevator. Thus, he discreetly went down the stairs secretly.

At the same time, downstairs, Emma took the chance to sneak out when Edwin went out to buy some snacks.

Today, she was going to find her father and ask him everything!

One child was cautiously going down the stairs, while the other struggled to climb up.

Suddenly, they collided at a corner.

They lifted their heads and stared at each other; eyes widened.

Finally, the two kids met face to face.
