Flashing warnings pulsed across Sylas' screen, the alerts coming fast and heavy. However, Sylas didn't break the connection, holding strong. His expression was staunch, his gaze firm.
His and Nosphaleen's determination seemed to weave into one another in a graceful sort of dance, their beliefs holding true and solid without the slightest hint of change.
And at that moment, in the depths of the universe, a change was taking place.
**
The Wrath of the System was something that hadn't spread too far. Many had taken note of it, but the universe was too large, and the use of terms like "many" was all relative.
But every time the words "Anomaly Detected" flashed on the screen, the depths of the system's scanning deepened.
First, it swept across the Thryskai of the Skai 11331 Galaxy, feeling as though their auras were similar. Each Thryskai froze, feeling their blood chill and their hearts seize. In fact, many Thryskai locked in the throes of battle lost their lives in that moment.
But the system had no remorse for them.
It had been provoked again and again, continuously in these last few weeks alone. It had split its attention so many ways, been forced to act so many times, and yet they still hadn't learned their lesson.
The system then progressed, its aura sweeping over every Kaelthar in the universe.
The husband-wife duo froze. They had made their decision to act not long ago, and suddenly they felt the feeling of the system's cold blade grazing their skin. It prickled against them, running across their goosebump-laden hairs.
It was the sort of feeling they would have rather never felt again.
But then it was gone.
They gasped for breath, looking toward one another with a slight apprehension in their eyes before a sharp determination came. Something big was about to happen, and they had to be ready for it.
Still, it was also clear that the system hadn't been there for them.
There was only one way to progress in this world, and that was through risk.
They clenched their teeth. But was it still worthwhile to target the Skai 11331 Galaxy at this point?
"… We wait," Saeng and his wife spoke at the same time. "After we know who it's targeting, we can decide how to proceed."
…
The system continued, sweeping across one Mortal Thryskai Clan after another, feeling that each one had their fingerprints involved at least in part, but there was nothing to find.
But it wasn't just the Mortal Thryskai it had jurisdiction over. Much of the universe might fear the Demi-God Thryskai…
The system was not among that number.
There were seven Mortal Thryskai Clans, seven Demi-God Thryskai Clans, and seven God Thryskai Clans.
To this Sector of the universe, the Demi-God Thryskai were true monsters, overlords that only descended from time to time. The likes of the Golden Grove could only grovel before a single one of them. That man alone would have been capable of wiping them out all on his own.
Would he have been able to without facing the system's Wrath? No. But that didn't stop the Golden Grove from being incredibly wary of him nonetheless.
This was the might of the Demi-God Thryskai.
The Vaelryn.
The Myrrakhael.
The Zoruunkai.
The Elyssadra.
The Dravakruun.
The Nyrrsaelith.
The Kaervareth.
Each one had a name that rang through the universe, controlling not just singular Sectors, but many of them.
And yet, the system brazenly scanned each and every one until it landed on one.
The Myrrakhael.
The system had had enough.
It was a massacre the likes of which couldn't be described… because there was nothing to describe at all.
Arcane Madness had once yawned and wiped out a star.
This time, entire galaxies were turned to darkness.
The Myrrakhael were a Race of Thryskai that stood at the very peak. They were silently known as the Silent Watchers, an existence of Thryskai who had a rare Time Will Ability. Their Third Eye was capable of freezing people in place, and they were often known to be the worst kind of opponent to face.
However, they were most known for their ability to turn their Silent Water Unique Gene onto Runes, allowing them to speed up their analysis and drawing of them substantially. They were the Speed Rune Masters of the universe, capable of completing large formations in the blink of an eye.
It was said that their Time Will Ability had a chance to unlock an ability never seen across the universe, granting them not just the ability to slow and almost stop time, but to even speed it up, allowing them to predict the future with a degree of certainty…
The ones among them that could do this were known as the Fate Thryskai. They deemed themselves not as Demi-Gods, but true Gods, ones that could manipulate and twist the future to their whim, exerting their power and influence as they pleased.
They were unbridled monsters, the sort of talents that ruled not just sections of galaxies, but many entire Galaxy Clusters with iron fists. They were the sort of legacy that passed on from generation to generation in an endless, perpetual cycle.
Just having a drop of their blood could turn you from a mediocre talent to one of exceptional power. Just a single one of their feathers could change the fate of anyone in Sylas' Sector.
The fact that they had their hands in something happening so far away, casually locking Earth away into a warped time field it had only just been able to get out of, wasn't even much of a surprise.
To them, it was just a casual Tuesday afternoon. Maybe they had never expected that something they had chosen to do on a casual whim would end them all like this.
They were meant to last into perpetuity. Their success in this coming generation would have given them a chance to evolve once more and replace one of the Seven God Thryskai Clans.
But now, there wasn't even a single feather remaining.
What do you think?
