Chapter 2: System or what it says

I change my attire, but my eyes do not leave the board. It’s just… hard to ignore. Alice’s worries are just building up. She lingered around me longer than usual, and with her around, I couldn’t get any answers about the board. So I have to ask her to leave after she helps me change.

I have to say, she always touches unnecessary parts when she helps me change; it’s tempting and weird, and I saw a smirk on her face. Anyway, back to the test at hand.

The blue board is still a mystery. I can’t get my hands around it. I mean, when I try to touch it, it just goes through. It was like touching a mist. I need answers. I have my suspicions that it is some sort of trick or some drug to make me hallucinate.

[Greetings Host]

I heard it. An unknown voice comes to me as I head to the door, ready to go to the library. Soft yet mechanical like a golem. I turn around and see the board, shifting its words before my eyes.

[You are not hallucinating, nor is this a trick.]

[I am an advanced AI System; Unit 14779, I was test with creating your character]

[The God, the creator of this world, decided to merge with a celestial body called ‘Earth’ in the form of a game.]

I stare at the board like a child who hears a legend for the first time. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing; if that was true, what am I, a chosen one?

[Not exactly, Host]

“What??”

That means there are others like me. Wait!! Did it just read my mind?!

I highly doubt that I will be surprised easily.

God, the absolute existence that created all of us. And they want to turn this world into a game.

I give up protesting against it. I mean, the opponent is go., what am I, a mortal, going to do?

“Tell me everything. Also, what should I call you?”

[You can call me ‘System’ or you can give me a name.]

A name, huh? It will be fine, right? To use that name.

“Olivia, my sister, who goes to the god side with my mother.”

[I am honoured to receive such a name]

“Enough with that. Tell me what to do.”

Well, this is no return now. But I won’t sit obediently. I am Daniel Ra Vindaloo. I will not be leashed, not even by god.
