Halfway through the meal, Nathaniel Shaw broke the silence first, “Lucas, I heard you’ve been seeing a doctor recently. Is there something wrong with your health?”

The matter of Adrian Holt’s memory being altered was unknown to the second branch of the family.

According to Master Shaw, the fewer people who knew about it, the better.

Adrian Holt glanced at him briefly, then responded casually, “It’s nothing, just a minor injury from earlier.”

Nathaniel Shaw nodded, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “That’s good. For a moment, I thought something major had happened again.”

Clara Shaw’s eyes darted around, filled with curiosity, as she asked, “If it’s just a minor injury, why not have her treat it? Doesn’t she claim to be some kind of medical expert?”

As soon as those words left her mouth, the atmosphere at the table grew tense and heavy.

Master Shaw’s sharp gaze shot straight at her. “Can’t you keep your mouth shut even while eating?”

“I’m just stating facts! Or… could it be that Second Cousin’s injury is so severe that even Serena Summers can’t treat it? That would make it pretty serious, wouldn’t it?”

Clara hadn’t thought much about what she said; she just wanted to put Serena in her place.

Even Evelyn Hart chimed in to support Clara, “Dad, Nathaniel and Clara are just concerned about Lucas’s health. If you ask me, if it really is a serious injury, it’s better to go to a proper hospital. Those back-alley doctors don’t have much real skill.”
