Chapter 350: Scales (6)
“Brothers and sisters! Rape the men, rape the women! Make them bear as many as we’ve killed! In the name of the Mother with a thousand breasts and a thousand cocks!”
It sounded like the Great War, thought to have ended 300 years ago, was starting again.
…Though it was somewhat vulgar for such an occasion.
The cultists and monsters, who had been indulging in carnal desires moments ago, now threw aside the captives and charged. With so many of them radiating killing intent simultaneously, it was quite intimidating.
Of course, we weren’t far behind.
“Would you show such shameful behavior in none other than Yggdrasil? The Mother World Tree is watching! Everyone, take up your weapons!”
Waaaaah!!
With a shout loud enough to make the air vibrate as a signal, they clashed, each crying out for their mother.
“Wah Bah Rat!”*Of course, our mom is the one who wins. *
A fierce exchange that continued for a while.
The Grotesque Proliferation’s forces were indeed strong. Individually, they were somewhat ambiguous, but with buffs and debuffs constantly stacking, they were tough to deal with.
Not that we couldn’t handle them; there was a way for everything.
While I was briefly recovering my mana circuits after casting Punishment, succubi and incubi with bat-like wings suddenly took to the sky from afar.
Even if they flew high, they couldn’t cross the barrier over Yggdrasil’s walls… but their aim was different.
Their inherent charm, enhanced by the Blessing of the Grotesque Proliferation, was now even stronger, and they meant to use that output.
The barrier over Yggdrasil’s walls was strong against direct impacts but had no ability to block intangible powers.
If their ambush succeeded, those providing firepower from the walls would be neutralized, and the tide of battle could turn instantly.
However, this was a known pattern.
With my mana circuits not fully recovered, high-level spells were out of the question. But that didn’t mean mid-level spells were weak.
“[Chain Lightning!]”
The lightning shot from the tip of my staff hit an incubus, then leapt from one succubus to another like a bouncing spark.
It was an ordinary mid-level spell, but enhanced through various means, including verbal command and equipment. Those who weren’t particularly strong wouldn’t withstand it.
“Kyaaaah!”
“Urrgh!”
“Fall—aaaaagh!”
In an instant, five or six succubi and incubi fall like blackened pieces of charcoal. Though it was a mid-level spell, its output was several times that, making it impossible for anyone below the rank of Archdeacon to endure.
However, their numbers were too great for me to handle alone. The elf commander, aware of this, shouted with a booming voice,
“Archers! The succubi are in the air! Prioritize them! If you can’t hit their heads, aim for their wings! Focus on bringing them down as quickly as possible!”
A commander who doesn’t panic at the succubi’s surprise attack, acting according to prior instructions.
He told them to aim for the wings, but most would probably shoot for the head or neck.
Wasn’t it well-known that elves were excellent archers, as much as they were beautiful? In the past, they would shoot with all sorts of spirits in various ways…
Now, aura had taken that role. While the variety had diminished, the power had increased.
Arrows, shot in a straight line rather than a parabolic arc, rained down like a storm on the succubi and incubi who had just taken flight.
Swoosh!
“Kyaaaah!”
“Kugh! Get back down! The ambush failed!”
“Absorb the incoming magic and the barrier like you normally do!”
Realizing their formation was lost, they hurriedly landed, some even retreating into the goblin masses, thinking they had advanced too far.
Unfortunately, the archer unit couldn’t do much about that.
…But that would be different for another unit.
“Finally, those harlots have come forward! Cut them all down before they flee! Show the spirit of the Empire!”
Led by the Aura Expert commander, the Spear Knights of the Levantin Empire rushed forward, their speed outmatching their words.
Humans, relatively resistant to charm compared to elves, especially knights with strong natural resistance, were equipped with various mental defense artifacts and even drank potions to temporarily reduce their lust.
Prepared to this extent, the Empire’s knights charged head-on against the power of the Evil God.
With their thick armor, superior physical abilities, and all enhanced by aura, they showed a breakthrough power more akin to tanks than humans.
Even if their physical abilities were weakened by the Grotesque Proliferation’s power…
“Brothers? Playing with something more fun than sword fighting—aaaah!”
“Brother! Aaaargh!!”
“It’s not about gender! The charm isn’t working! These guys are impotent!”
With each flash of silver metal, the succubi and incubi fell without much resistance.
Specialized in charm, with all their powers directed toward that, their direct combat strength was on the weaker side, which was why this happened.
Despite the goblins throwing themselves in to protect them, it was all in vain. No matter how much their physical abilities were enhanced by the power or additional buffs, goblins were still goblins.
Unless they were superior variants, stopping the charge of elite knights was nearly impossible.
In reality, the knights of the Levantin Empire either crashed into them or punched them away, causing most goblins to bounce into the air with no resistance.
It looked like popcorn popping. If we could take down the entire succubus unit like this, it would be ideal… but it seemed they wouldn’t let that happen.
A figure descended between the fleeing succubi and the pursuing knights.
With purple hair and curved horns protruding, small bat wings on her back, and a heart-shaped tail at her waist, she was a typical succubus.
But this was only regarding her appearance. The aura she exuded was anything but ordinary.
The Cardinal of the Grotesque Proliferation, the seductive Wilhelmina.
She swayed her unrealistically sized chest and hips, speaking in a languid voice.
“Oh? Handsome brothers. Stop bullying the kids and play with someone your own level. How about it? I can cater to anything.”
“Everyone, get into formation! It’s a Cardinal! Hold out until the Commander arrives!”
“Am I not good enough since I showed up? Do brothers prefer the kids? But I’m still fresh…”
“Never make eye contact! Even if we’re well-prepared, a Cardinal is beyond what we can handle at our level! Stop the pursuit and focus solely on holding your positions!”
“…Hmph. So, you’re going to be like that? If the brothers won’t play with me, there’s no helping it. Yeah. I’ll have to play with the brothers. Right. That would be good.”
The consistently flirtatious expression on Wilhelmina’s face turned chilly.
Swish!
A club the size of an arm sprouted from beneath her short skirt.
A truly wretched sight. But almost simultaneously, the Commander of the Spear Knights arrived, so I could leave the rest to him.
Maintaining the mana I had gathered in case I needed to intervene, I looked elsewhere.
There, I saw a flesh mass the size of a small hill. It wasn’t another meat tree but simply a mass of tentacle monsters gathered together.
They were called tentacle-type because of their appearance, but such classification didn’t really exist. Strictly speaking, they should be called a collective monster.
Each individual was one tentacle. However, when dozens of tentacles would come together, they could restrain limbs and forcibly plant seeds into a host.
What if thousands, tens of thousands of tentacles gathered? The answer was right in front of us.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
It wasn’t crawling but lifting its body by bundling tentacles into two legs, pushing itself forward.
Each time its floating body touched the ground, a shockwave resonated through the earth.
This was possible because its entire body, excluding reproductive organs, was made of muscle. If that brute force were directed at the barrier, it might hold for a while, but ultimately, parts would break.
Additionally, the corrosive liquid dripping from the ends of the tentacles wasn’t to be underestimated.
Normally, it might only melt clothes, but when concentrated like this, it could dissolve flesh as well.
The corrosive liquid wouldn’t damage the barrier, but it would be a significant obstacle for those who would go to defeat this tentacle mass.
However, this too was one of the scenarios we had anticipated.
In H& A, even if I knew about them, they often grew too large to be stopped… but now, they were not at that level yet.
Gugugung.
A low growl from deep within the ground. A tremendous divine force writhed, and then, roots of the World Tree shot up, piercing through the ground.
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. A tentacle for a tentacle…!
What do you think?
