Chapter 968: Abaddon is Spiraling
“….I should stab him.”
Audrina looked up from braiding their daughter’s hair and stared at her husband with a concerned look.
“I was wondering what you were over there stewing about for the last couple of minutes. I should’ve guessed it was that.”
Thrudd looked confused. “Was he not making that face because he was on diaper duty..?”
Odessa had indeed given her father something to complain about, but it wasn’t the reason he was simmering with a murderous rage.
“I’m gone for less than two weeks and he’s cozying up to my favorite Aunt while I’m gone? I should kill-”
“Easy there, tough guy.” Audrina snickered. “I thought you were on a new path now? Why let this ruin that?”
Abaddon helped Odessa sit up once she was clean and made sure to give himself new hands as well.
“Because Shin Nagumo destroys everything he touches. He is a black hole of misplaced anger and ignorance.”
“You invited him into our home.”
“And this is how he repays me?? By trying to cozy up to my innocent old auntie?!”
Audrina paused from braiding Thrudd’s hair when she heard that incredulous line.
“Lusamine brought home a best blowjob trophy from a sex club one morning. She almost let Courtney take it to school for show and tell.”
“Look, I didn’t say she wasn’t free spirited.” Abaddon held up his hands in surrender. “But that doesn’t mean I’m okay with him trying to turn himself into her latest adult toy.”
Thrudd grimaced. “I feel like I hear too much about my older relatives’ sex lives here… Can I move out?”
“Only if you want Mommy to kill herself, sweetie.” Audrina kissed the top of her head.
Abaddon paced about the room while rubbing his jaw.
“I got it… I’m going to tell him the earth is safe and he can go fuck off there and-”
“We literally just got jumped by demonic eldritch hybrids the last time we went to Earth, babe.”
“And I’m hoping that won’t be an event mutually exclusive to us.”
Thrudd discreetly began taking a video of her father’s slow descent into madness.
Audrina sighed as she went back to braiding. “You know what this is about.”
“Don’t say it.”
“I’m going to say it.”
“Don’t say it!” Abaddon flopped into bed facedown.
“You can’t let this be because you’re just sex!”
“Uagghh!!”
Abaddon covered his head with a pillow. Audrina rolled her eyes as she ripped it away.
“You can’t get mad at me for telling you the truth, honey. The sooner you accept all this, the better.”
Thrudd made a confused expression as she rubbed her cheek. “At the risk of traumatizing myself further… What are you two talking about?”

Audrina seemed almost giddy to answer. “Well, your father has this thing where-”
“Please leave our baby out of this…” he pleaded.
Audrina ignored him. “-He has a hard time differentiating between basic sexual attraction and pure, romantic interest. Not just towards himself, but with others. Valerie and Tatiana are the same.”
Thrudd gasped. “Oh my god, dad… You’re emotionally dyslexic?”
“It’s more like colorblindness, but yes.” Audrina nodded.
“That’s so sad.” Thrudd shook her head at her father and stared at him pitifully.
“I want you to know that you’re adopted and we found you in a chicken coop.”
Audrina and Thrudd both hit him over the head.
“That’s why all of his romantic ships in movies and television are terrible.” Audrina continued. “You know he actually wanted Ghost to end up with Angela in ‘Power’?”
Thrudd tilted her head. “What’s wrong with that?”
“…”
“…?”
“Well, they do say dyslexia is genetic..” Audrina just kept braiding.
“”Hey!””
Audrina’s nimble fingers continued to work her way through her daughter’s head. “I’m just saying maybe you would have less of an issue with Shin and Lusamine spending time together if you were more aware of his genuine-”
“I got it!” Abaddon’s head popped up excitedly.
He rolled over and held out his arms like he was waiting for something. A moment later, a beautiful green-skinned elf dropped into his arms.
Eris smiled at the sudden summons and wrapped her arms around her husband’s neck. “Oh. Hello, my darli-”
“Babe, I need you to tell me everything that you can sense about Shin and Lusamine. Does he actually have an interest in her, or is he just buzzing around her to fuck with me?”
“…” Eris slowly turned her gaze from her husband to Audrina.
A look of shared exhaustion passed between the two and Eris looked back at her husband.
“No.”
Eris booped her husband on the nose and flashed out of the room as quickly as she came in. Abaddon remained frozen in place for over thirty seconds after she left.
“…Do you think she meant ‘no’ as in no, he doesn’t have a real interest in her, or-”
“”Dad / Abaddon!””
“Fine…” Abaddon returned to his former face-down position in the bed.
After all these years of trying, Shin had finally defeated him. And he’d done it without firing a single gun or throwing a punch.
“…Bitch.” He said into the comforter.
Audrina chuckled as she patted her husband on the head.
“Just let this go, honey. Lusamine is a grown woman who can take care of herself and the very last person who you should worry is being taken advantage of.”
Abaddon knew that realistically. But he couldn’t help it if he was protective over his family.
It was different when Courtney wanted to start dating Aj. His daughter wasn’t easily manipulated for one. And Anthony wasn’t a vendetta-carrying piece of shit for two.
‘…Maybe I should text the old man and let him know that-‘
“Honey, give me your phone.” Audrina suddenly asked.
“Why?”
“I just had a feeling.” Audrina smiled.
After Abaddon forked over his phone and covered his head with another pillow, Thrudd steered the conversation into an area she had been mindful of for a while now.
“On the subject of romances that you guys are keeping your noses out of… Say that I wanted to give emotions to a few millennia year old dinosaur woman… how would I go about that?”
Audrina arched her brow. “…Is this about-”
“W-We’re keeping our noses out of other people’s business, remember!”
Audrina rolled her eyes and continued braiding. “Well…. I suppose that you can ask your mother for a talisman, or ask your other mother for a blessing of some sort.” (Lailah or Eris.)
Thrudd grinned wide like a Cheshire Cat.
“But I gotta tell you, sweetie, I really think that you might be un-”
“Got it, thank you, mom!” Thrudd stood up and gave Audrina the biggest kiss on the cheek she could muster. “You’re the best! I really missed you!”
Thrudd bolted out of the door so fast that she left flaming footprints in the carpet.
Audrina looked down at the grease and comb in her hands and pouted.
“…She didn’t even let me finish with her hair.”
Abaddon said nothing as he lifted Odessa over his head. “You listen here, little miss. You’re not allowed to grow up and you’re not allowed to fall in love either.”
“Abaddon.” Audrina scolded.
“Okay, okay, but they can’t be from the order. Or Auburn fans. Or vegan-”
Audrina snatched their baby away and started to take her to the bathroom. “Come on, pumpkin. Let’s give you a bath while Daddy sits out here and loses his mind.”
For once, Abaddon was a bit inclined to agree with her.
Audrina paused in the middle of the room with her ear twitching slightly.
Soon after, Abaddon sat up rubbing his eyes as well.
“Imagine that..” Audrina whistled. “One day back at home and we are already getting invaded.”
What do you think?
