Chapter 172: One for many
"It's quite good, I think it's stable," Seraphine nodded with satisfaction. Then she briefly looked at Emilia.
"What do you think, Emy?" she asked with a smile.
Emilia frowned upon hearing how she was called, but decided not to say anything about it. She looked at the door that was once full of golden and pure white runes. Now, the door was different: one half was completely black and the other white. Ash fluttered around it, and the presence of the door made space and time freeze...
Emilia stared at it and extended her hand. The door stirred slightly, but showed no sign of a crack. She pressed her lips together before trying to touch it, but her hand disappeared behind it. After staying silent, she finally said:
"It's stable," nodding slowly.
"Perfect... now..." Seraphine gave a strange smile and looked to her side.
The figure of the adorable little girl had appeared at some point. She crossed her arms while looking at the door and frowned.
"Seriously?" she asked Seraphine.
Seraphine smiled.
"It was necessary," she replied simply.
Noemi remained silent before speaking:
"You are breaking a celestial rule."
"We know," Seraphine responded.
"Then..." she pointed at the door, "are you going to use that method?"
"Yes, it's the least complicated one I know," she shrugged.
"That's sacrilege," Noemi sighed deeply.
"Profaned divine energy is a form of corruption similar to what Lucifer once had in his soul. But that energy only works with us, the celestials. I would agree if it was just you and the half-blood, but..." Noemi narrowed her eyes, looking at Seraphine.
"Are you trying to force an awakening?"
"No, no, not at all. That would only cause more problems than I need," she shook her head.
"It'll only be partial, I swear," she said with a serious expression.
Noemi nodded slightly.
"Will you use the damned one?"
"Yes, it'll be much more effective than doing it myself," Seraphine nodded again.
Noemi clicked her tongue in disgust.
"Be careful with the profaned divine energy, Seraphine. Even you won't come out unscathed if you underestimate it."
With those last words, Noemi disappeared. At that moment, chains appeared around the door.
"It can only be used twice," Emilia said, watching the chains
"Even if I overlook it, I can't completely break the rules," Seraphine commented while watching them.
"To enter and to exit. Two uses."
"I hate those damned chains," Emilia said coldly, looking at the same chains that were deep within her soul.
"I hated them too, back in the day," Seraphine murmured.

"You're leaving?" Her Majesty Brynthia asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes, I don't really have another option," Arthur sighed and shrugged.
"What an unpleasant way to gain power," Brynthia mocked with a laugh.
"Don't even mention it..." he muttered to himself, then cautiously looked at Brynthia.
"What do you want from me?"
His sixth sense told him she definitely wanted something from the abyss, especially considering it was her first question.
"If you help me, I can get you a good deal with a beast... let's say when you return. What do you say?"
"What kind of beast is it?" I asked, interested.
"It's a demonic one," she answered directly.
"It's a high-blood that was corrupted long ago by a devil," she added mysteriously.
"Do you have it under control? From what I know, a demonic beast is much more aggressive than a normal one," Arthur showed distrust.
"It's dead," she smiled, "but its soul is intact in this gem," she pulled out a dark violet gem from nowhere.
"If you succeed in the abyss, you'll have the chance to kill its soul and absorb it to strengthen your own."
Arthur shifted slightly as he watched the corrupted energy emanating from the crystal...
After a few moments of doubt:
"What do you want?"
"One crystal for another. To be more specific, I want a crystal of corrupted divine energy. But since I'm a fair woman and know it's not a balanced deal, besides the crystal I'll give you two interesting artifacts that will help you a lot," Brynthia pulled out two artifacts.
"One allows you to fly for a specific time, and the other is a sword that helps you better control the blue flame. And as a courtesy from me, this"—she pulled out something else from nowhere—"a light armor that will protect you from sage-level attacks."
I opened my eyes wide... then narrowed them, looking at her suspiciously.
"The crystal of profaned divine energy is hard to obtain, isn't it?"
Brynthia smiled.
"Yes, but it's hard for celestials. For you, not so much. Although, on the other hand, you're a demon. The good news is that all the fallen around the cursed throne are in a deep sleep. The crystal only grows beside the cursed throne. The tricky part is that you'll inevitably fall into a deep sleep when you approach it," she frowned.
"I see..." I rolled my eyes.
"Now I understand why you were giving me so many things..."
"The good thing is that there's no danger. It's the same thing Seraphine is trying to do with the three of you: bring you as close as possible to the cursed throne so you enter the illusion or dream," she pulled out a dull object.
"With this, you'll resist the need to close your eyes for five minutes. You just have to hold the stone and not let go. When you wake up, you'll have it in your hand. The crystal will be the size of a baby's fist," she smiled.
"Do you accept?"
I remained silent...
"I'll try," I finally said.
"I've got nothing to lose; I only stand to gain."
"That's the spirit," Brynthia handed him the dull artifact and smiled.
"Good luck."
*****
"What did she want?" Daniela asked with curiosity.
"A crystal from the abyss," I said while looking at the dull artifact. No matter how I look at it, it seems like a plain stone...
"Will it be dangerous?" Leslie asked, frowning.
"From her words and Seraphine's, we'll be fine," I answered honestly.
Evelyn, who had been silent, spoke:
"Are you sure?"
"I hope so. But don't worry. If I see it's too dangerous, I simply won't do it. I really won't; it's already risky enough going into the abyss as a demon..."
After walking for a few minutes, Elizabeth's figure appeared.
"You sure took your time," she said with a pout.
"Are you ready?"
"Yes," the three of us nodded.
"Perfect. It's going to be so much fun."
What do you think?
