Chapter 10: Sanctum of the Everlasting Lotus
“To confront gods, one must first become an existence they fear—a truth that even time cannot erode.”
— Void Sovereign’s Unwritten Doctrine, Seventh Cycle
Part 1: Training Beyond Eternity
The Sanctuary of the Nameless Peak was not just a refuge—it was a place where time stretched, and reality softened at the edges.
Inside its crystal-lit halls, days blended into years. Training began not in combat, but in silence—deep meditation and soul bonding that pushed their cultivation beyond known limits.
Xia Yue grew quickly, her power maturing far beyond her age. By the sanctuary’s strange flow of time, months felt like lifetimes.
And Jiang Chen’s Void Lotus expanded further, now shimmering with seven fully opened petals and one new bud—marked with both flame and star.
Ruyan’s New Strength
Ruyan trained in a chamber filled with moon mirrors, reflecting infinite variations of herself. Her Moonlotus Flameheart grew brighter, intertwining flawlessly with Jiang Chen’s Void Lotus.
Her strength now matched Jiang Chen’s—yet neither outpaced the other. Their growth was harmonious, balanced, resonant.
“We’re stronger together than apart,” she said softly, hand resting upon his chest after a long meditation.
“That’s always been true,” Jiang Chen whispered, “even when we forgot.”
Xia Yue’s Awakening
Xia Yue’s training differed.
She sat before the crystal statue of her mother, meditating quietly. The air rippled around her, ancient memories flowing into her from the statue’s heart.
One day, as Jiang Chen approached, she opened her eyes—now deeper, wiser.
“I remember why they erased us,” she said gently. “Because we found something… older than gods.”
He knelt before her. “What was it?”
“The First Truth,” she whispered. “The Void Lotus wasn’t born—it was stolen. From something beyond even the heavens.”
Jiang Chen’s heart quickened.
“What did they steal it from?”
She smiled softly.
“From us.”
Part 2: The Void Flame Origin
In the deepest chamber of the sanctuary, a cavern made entirely of star obsidian, Jiang Chen stood alone, facing an altar older than the heavens. Upon it hovered an orb of pure, crystalline darkness—the Void Flame Origin.
Xia Yue stood quietly beside him, hand gently clasping his.
“To claim it,” she whispered, “you must surrender who you were… and remember who you truly are.”
He nodded, eyes never leaving the flame.
Then he reached forward—and the orb opened, engulfing him in darkness deeper than the Void itself.
Truth Within Darkness
Inside the orb, Jiang Chen did not see darkness—he saw memories.
Memories not of his past lives, but of something older. The very first life, before the cycles began:
He saw himself—ageless, powerful, the original Sovereign of Void, seated upon a throne that existed beyond heaven and earth. Beside him, a woman who resembled both Xia Yue and Ruyan, radiant with cosmic flame.
“We ruled once, not as gods, but as guardians,” her voice echoed. “The Void Lotus was ours—our birthright, protecting creation from divine tyranny.”
She reached out, touching his face softly.
“When they stole our lotus, they shattered us, scattering our essence across countless lifetimes.”
Jiang Chen trembled.
“You’re… the one I’ve searched for every life…”
She smiled sadly.
“Yes. But now you must choose—to reclaim your true self, or remain fractured forever.”
Reclaiming True Identity
Jiang Chen’s heart surged. Around him, the fragments of all his lives circled closer, merging slowly, seamlessly.
He spoke, voice resonating with eternal strength:
“I reclaim what was stolen. I remember who I was—who I am.”
The Void Flame Origin erupted within him, fusing with the Void Lotus. His cultivation soared instantly, shattering all known barriers.
Outside, Xia Yue watched with calm pride.
“Papa… you’ve returned.”
Divine Eyes Find the Sanctuary
But far above, at the boundary of the Sanctuary, divine eyes opened, hidden behind celestial masks. One spoke quietly, dangerously:
“They’ve awakened it—the Void Flame Origin.”
Another replied, voice shaking:
“Then even we cannot stop them now…”
A third said softly:
“Then let him deal with them.”
Part 3: Sovereign Reborn
The sanctuary trembled, not from invasion—but from awakening.
Jiang Chen emerged from the star-obsidian cavern, transformed.
His robes, once simple, now shimmered with black flame etched with silver runes. A crown of Void Lotus petals floated above his head, and his eyes carried the infinite depth of forgotten time.
He stepped forward, power humming softly around him.
Ruyan and Xia Yue approached cautiously, awe-struck.
“You’re different,” Ruyan whispered.
“I’m whole,” Jiang Chen replied gently.
Divine Assassin Strikes
But peace did not last.
A sudden tear appeared in the sanctuary’s protective veil—a breach forged by divine power.
Through it stepped a masked figure, cloaked in pure white, wielding a spear carved from starlight itself—a divine assassin sent by the Supreme Thrones.
“You have become too dangerous, Sovereign,” the assassin intoned. “Your existence threatens creation.”
Jiang Chen smiled faintly. “Only the creation you built on stolen lies.”
The assassin surged forward, spear flashing.
But Jiang Chen raised a hand, gently, calmly.
[Void Flame Origin: Eternity’s Grasp]
Space itself collapsed gently around the assassin, binding him instantly. His spear dissolved, his aura vanished—leaving only a bewildered, powerless soul.
“Tell your masters,” Jiang Chen said softly, “the Void remembers.”
He released the assassin, who fled instantly—afraid.
An Ancient Betrayer Returns
The tear remained open.
Another stepped through—not masked, not cloaked.
A face Jiang Chen had known intimately in his first life: Lin Qian, the disciple who had first betrayed him, who had conspired with the gods to steal the Void Lotus and shatter his essence.
Lin Qian smiled, coldly polite.
“You always did survive, Master.”
Jiang Chen stared, heart calm, voice colder.
“And you always betrayed.”
Lin Qian laughed softly, bitterness dripping.
“You never understood. The Void Flame should belong to no mortal. It was always meant for gods.”
“And you see yourself as one?” Jiang Chen asked calmly.
Lin Qian’s eyes narrowed. “No—but I serve those who are.”
The Challenge Issued
Lin Qian raised his hand, divine seals flickering.
“The gods demand a challenge, Sovereign. Come to the peak of the world—face judgment directly. Or hide here, forever fearing.”
Jiang Chen’s aura rose, infinitely calm.
“Tell them I accept. And tell them… I come not to defend myself, but to reclaim everything.”
Lin Qian vanished, laughter echoing softly.
What do you think?
