Chapter 918: Meaningless
Chapter 918: Meaningless
For a few moments, the six women silently observed the world tree from a distance that seemed to be undergoing two types of drastic changes, its power kept growing as it absorbed more and more of the world energy not just from the dimensional stone but even from the universe itself.
On the other hand, it was under the constant destruction of the six world's rules energy sphere; it kept breaking until almost nothing of it was left, even lingering pieces of Jayden's soul were obliterated only to be healed and reformed, much stronger than before.
Around the world tree, aside from the dimensional stone, a few other things were floating or revolving too.
A dangerous and enormous amount of purple flames burned under the world tree, almost looking as if the world tree would be burned to ashes by this demonic flame, but it was instead refining it and making it even stronger while also merging with the world tree.
A strange crystal-like heart was rotating around the world tree, it was the heart of the first dragon that seemed to contain a large amount of dragon aura and also an extremely oppressive pressure; slowly, threads wove out of it forming a dragon-like pattern over the tree.
Under the world tree, even below the nether flames an image of a large clock could be seen, the hand of the clock was moving extremely fast as if one moment of outside equalled to a very long time inside, and as more time seemed to pass, the clock image was slowly shifting onto the surface of the tree.
Along with them, a strong space energy reverberated around the world tree, its aura becoming one with the world energy that was being absorbed inside the giant golden tree.
The six women seemed to recognize them as the abilities and objects that Jayden possessed when he was alive; despite their best efforts, they weren't able to see more of the things that were present around or inside the world tree and could only see a few.
"It seems Jay already prepared things since he planned to kill the guardians, although I can't understand exactly what has happened there—it's too chaotic, there is this strong energy of destruction but also such terrifying world energy, this tree… I don't even know what it is or what kind of changes it is undergoing,"
Aurora spoke, expressing what was on the minds of all six women.
"I think we might be of little help…" Evelyn spoke, sadly brushing her red hair behind her ear.
"You mean to say—" Chloe looked at her and understood the meaning.
"Yes, let's share the burden that Jay is carrying even after his death; it might take a long time but we have to do it, let's take control over the world laws at least that way the remnants of his soul could finally be at peace,"
Evelyn replied, closing her eyes and letting her tears roll over her pale cheeks.
"Yes, let's do it, but since the energy those light clusters possess has already become so destructive, it would be better not to absorb them; this tree will handle that, let's just take control of the world laws.
Doing that much will be enough that way this tree could still be able to absorb all that energy and grow—even though I have no idea about it, but since Jay wished so, we will do what we can,"
Joey said, and without further discussion the six women all nodded to one another and flew a little closer to the world tree but still stayed at a relatively safe distance.
Then they sat in the air and closed their eyes, each woman forming a connection with each of the energy clusters that was destroying the world tree countless times with each passing moment, yet it kept healing, becoming stronger each time.
They pointed both their hands forward and each of them formed a connection with different laws of the world; this process was going to be very long and dangerous but they were ready to face this danger if it meant they could be of little help to him.
As the six of them sat there, bonding with different laws of the universe over the course of a long time, the destructive energy was slowly separated from the world laws; the energy stayed near the tree while light spheres floated in front of each of the women.
They just sat there for a long time, tears spilling from their eyes until none were left while they continued to work.

After reeling in their despair and crying even as tears stopped coming from their eyes, all the people left the nether world and returned to Earth—the house where they all lived together.
Everything became tasteless and colourless; barely anyone ever talked, even Xerome remained gloomy after the catastrophic event, Alice, Sasha, Jia, Xiao, Eleanor, and the other women mostly remained locked in their own rooms, some unable to accept Jayden's death while none were able to get over it.
Even the passage of time couldn't heal those wounds; it seemed as everything had become meaningless, as in the blink of an eye more than a year had passed, yet this period was extremely painful for Jayden's family—they all remained close to each other in one house, yet they barely saw each other's faces or talked, even in weeks and months.
By now, the whole universe was already aware of Jayden's identity, even though Jayden had turned the events of the tournament into a fake reality, like a different timeline that didn't really happen but they had seen all of it; if Jayden hadn't saved them, then the entire population of the universe, including the rulers, would be dead by now.
They understood that Jayden was the world devourer and his death brought tension and fear across the universe; the dangers from outside forces still lingered—without the world devourer, they weren't even able to defeat one person from another universe, and if another attack like that is launched then all of them will be finished.
Over time, Alice's belly began to become bigger; the pregnancy amongst vampires was completely different from that in humans, as vampires nourish the baby for more than two years in their belly, but Alice's and Jayden's child case was even different and much more unique.
The child not only possesses their vampiric traits but, more than that, it had inherited much more from Jayden and even had a piece of the dimensional stone, so her pregnancy would last longer than even that of vampires.
Alice desperately wanted this child to come into this world—a trace of her husband; now only this child seemed to be the reason why she continued to breathe. All the other members were worried about Alice, as they feared she might do something because of her sadness, so someone always stayed close to her.
All of them took utmost care of her, almost like trying to divert their minds from the pain for some time, yet his memories were etched into the depths of their souls; the immortality of a vampire seemed to become a curse for them all.
