Era of Players: Death God

Chapter 273: On the Seventh floor

As Arthur and Ilya stepped onto the seventh floor, they were immediately struck by the oppressive atmosphere that enveloped them. The air was thick with humidity, and the dim light cast eerie shadows across the rocky terrain. Jagged formations jutted out from the ground like the teeth of some ancient beast, and the distant sounds of growls echoed ominously, signaling the presence of lurking enemies.

"Stay alert," Arthur cautioned, his grip tightening around the hilt of his sword. The light from the blade pulsed softly, illuminating the area around them. Ilya nodded, her eyes scanning the dark corners of the cavern, ready to react at a moment's notice.

They moved cautiously, each step calculated as they ventured deeper into the heart of the floor. The growls grew louder, reverberating off the walls and sending a chill down their spines. Arthur could feel the adrenaline coursing through him, a familiar rush that ignited his senses. He was ready for battle.

Suddenly, from the shadows emerged a pack of massive blue trolls, their cerulean skin glistening in the dim light. Each one towered over them, muscles rippling beneath their thick skin, and their yellow eyes glinted with malice. Arthur felt a surge of determination; they had faced formidable foes before, and they would do so again.

"Let's take them down!" he shouted, raising his sword high. The trolls roared in response, charging at them with terrifying speed.

Ilya wasted no time; she immediately stepped forward, channeling her curse magic. Dark tendrils of energy erupted from her fingertips, snaking toward the nearest troll and wrapping around its legs. The creature stumbled, its momentum thwarted as Ilya's magic slowed it down.

"Now, Arthur!" she called, her voice steady.

With a fierce battle cry, Arthur charged at the nearest troll, swinging his sword with all his might. The blade connected with the creature's side, the light energy slicing through its skin and drawing a howl of pain. The troll staggered back, but Arthur pressed on, not giving it a moment to recover.

Ilya joined him, her spear darting forward to strike at the creature's exposed flank. The trolls were strong, but together, they were a force to be reckoned with. As Arthur fought, he could see the synergy between them growing stronger; they moved in tandem, every strike calculated, every maneuver deliberate.

The first troll fell, crashing to the ground with a massive thud, and the remaining trolls roared in fury. They charged at the duo, their massive clubs swinging through the air with deadly intent. Arthur raised his shield just in time, absorbing the impact of a blow that would have sent him sprawling.

"Keep them at bay!" he shouted to Ilya as he regained his footing. She nodded, her focus unwavering, and summoned her magic once more. The dark tendrils lashed out again, wrapping around another troll and pulling it to the ground.

With the trolls distracted, Arthur took the opportunity to strike again, moving swiftly to the side as he swung his sword, cutting through the air with precision. He could feel the light energy surging through him, invigorating his every move.

But the trolls were relentless. One of them, larger and more powerful than the others, swung its club with tremendous force, aiming for Arthur's head. He ducked low, rolling to the side just as the weapon crashed into the ground, sending debris flying.

"Watch out!" Ilya called, her voice piercing through the chaos. She darted forward, using her spear to stab at the troll's exposed leg. The creature howled in pain, and Arthur seized the moment, pushing off the ground to deliver a powerful upward slash with his sword.

The troll staggered back, and for a brief moment, they had the upper hand. But just as they pressed their advantage, the remaining trolls began to coordinate their attacks, moving in sync to surround them.

"We need to split them up!" Ilya shouted, her eyes sharp with determination.

"Agreed!" Arthur replied, taking a deep breath. Together, they executed their plan. Ilya summoned her cursed energy, creating a barrier of dark magic that forced the trolls to momentarily regroup.

With the trolls momentarily disoriented, Arthur charged forward, using his shield to bash the nearest troll and create an opening. He struck with his sword, the light energy bursting forth with each blow, forcing the troll back. Ilya joined him, her spear thrusting forward to pierce the waves of monstrous flesh.

As they fought, they alternated between offense and defense, using their respective abilities to keep the trolls at bay. Arthur blocked incoming attacks with his shield, while Ilya struck from behind, her spear darting like a snake. They were a well-coordinated duo, moving fluidly as they cut down their foes.

The tide of battle began to turn in their favor. The trolls, once confident in their numbers, were now faltering. Arthur could see the fear in their eyes as they struggled against the relentless assault. He could feel the energy within him surging, urging him to push on.

With a final battle cry, Arthur summoned all of his strength to deliver a devastating blow to the lead troll. He channeled the Light energy into his sword, the blade glowing brighter than ever before as he swung with all his might. The impact was explosive, the light bursting forth and engulfing the troll in a radiant flash.

The creature let out a final, agonized roar before collapsing to the ground, defeated. The remaining trolls hesitated, their confidence shattered. Ilya took advantage of the moment, darting forward to strike down another troll with a swift, calculated thrust of her spear.

With the last troll fallen, Arthur stood amidst the chaos, breathing heavily but victorious. The ground was littered with the remnants of their battle, and the air was thick with the scent of sweat and smoke.

Arthur wiped the sweat from his brow, glancing at Ilya as a triumphant smile spread across his face.

"We did it," he said, a note of pride in his voice.

"Yes, we did," Ilya replied, returning his smile. "But we can't let our guard down yet. We need to keep moving."

With renewed determination, they pressed on, ascending the rocky terrain as they made their way toward the exit of the seventh floor. The path led them deeper into the cavern, and although they were exhausted, they could feel the thrill of victory coursing through their veins.

As they reached the end of the corridor, they found themselves facing a massive stone door, adorned with intricate carvings that depicted the trials of those who had come before them. Arthur placed a hand on the cool surface, feeling the energy emanating from it.

"Are you ready?" he asked, glancing at Ilya.

"Ready as I'll ever be," she replied, her voice steady.

With a nod, Arthur pushed the door open, the heavy stone creaking as it swung wide. Beyond lay the next floor, shrouded in darkness and mystery.
