Epic of Caterpillar

Chapter 2569 - 2570: The One Behind The Monsters

-----

Frank and his Friends noticed a trio of students suddenly walking towards them out of absolutely nowhere. Their uniform were almost the same as the uniform they were wearing, so they most likely belonged to Tokyo High School as well.

What's worse, it seemed they were even in the same year as them, as this trio, their appearances in specific, were immediately recognizable to them all.

"W-Wait a second, who are those guys?!" Erika asked. "I think I recognize them from somewhere?"

"They're our classmates, Erika! That's… Elfina, Sol, and Fiere?" Harumi wondered. "What are they even doing inside this Domain?"

"Were they part of the underworld?" Frank asked. "I had no idea… Even though…"

Even though within those "dreams" or "fragmented memories" Frank could clearly remember them. However, in those memories, similarly to Kireina, they weren't students.

Elfina was some sort of Elven Princess, with the ability to summon powerful familiars. She had summoned Kireina and… a Hero from Kireina's world as well, named Sol.

And that Sol was with her, another student of their class, which Frank couldn't quite remember that well being in any dreams at all.

At her side was also Fiere, Elfina's maid and also another student. Unlike Kireina's maids, she was a student at the school and someone with great grades.

Yeah, they were basically popular students, and that's all, barring the weird dreams or memories that Frank has.

And yet, why were they here? What did they want to do here? What was their purpose in this place?

What were they planning?

"Hey! Are you lost?" Matsuo asked them, as the students stopped walking, standing in front of Frank and his friends, around ten meters apart.

"Huh? Those guys…" Frank suddenly noticed something weird about them.

"Hey, we're talking to you! Are you part of the underworld? If not then scram!" Erika acted more aggressively, she was still in her werewolf form and yet the students weren't scared or surprised.

In fact, they were showing no emotions or expressions at all and were blankly staring at her as if they had always known of their existence.

Or more like they had no control at all over their own bodies…

"Matsuo, I think there's something wrong with them…" Frank said. "Their eyes, can't you see them? They're devoid of light and personality. They didn't react at all when they saw Erika either."

"Wait, you're right…" Matsuo nodded. "Who brought you here? Can't you talk?"

"I don't think they can even talk; they're just staring at us?" Harumi asked. "Ah! Those auras…!"

Harumi suddenly got into a defensive stance, her aura wrapping her body as she sensed a powerful, Arcane Curse within those three students.

"Fufufu~!"

And they heard the laughter of a woman echoing through the city. The sky suddenly turned completely dark out of nowhere, and their surroundings changed, twisting around.

Frank's group quickly gathered together as they glanced at their surroundings, and then at the figure emerging amidst the darkness.

They could only see the slight silhouette of what seemed to be an adult woman, with long hair and bright purple and red eyes.

The rest of her body and appearance was completely obscured into darkness, but she seemed to be wearing a long dress and a veil covering her head.

"W-What's going on?!" Erika wondered, looking around. "Is that a witch?! Where did she even come from?!"

"Looks like she must have been the one behind the slimes and these students' strange behavior!" Frank said.

"What?!" Frank asked glancing at the woman above, he couldn't discern her appearance.

"Who are you, witch?! You dare come to attack us? Do you know who is controlling this entire territory? The Alliance between the Vampire House of Bloodfallen, the Werewolf Clan of Beowulf, and the Amaterasu Clan are in control! If you dare attack us, you're declaring war to all three of them!" Harumi said.

"That's right! Why are you even trying? Do you know who are our leaders? They'll immediately find you and kill you if you dare harm us…!" Matsuo nodded.

"I wouldn't recommend making my daddy angry!" Erika roared.

"Heh, insolent children. Do you think I fear those pathetic mortals?" Laughed the witch. "I remember when Vampires were once fierce and never had alliances, when werewolves were known as the terror of the plains, dominating thousands of kilometers of land as they hunted humans to near extinction, and I remember the once glorious Amaterasu Clan, governing all of Japan! Now you're but a husk of your former selves, pathetic to the core. Is there anything to be afraid of? Chaos Hungers, and he shall devour whatever he pleases. Eras comes and go, but he remains undefeated and eternal. Your end is naught, now hand over that boy, or they will pay the price."

The woman looked down at Frank, as his friends quickly realized she was targeting him and none of the other members of the Clan Alliance!

"F-Frank? What do you want with him?!" Matsuo asked angrily.

"You're targeting Frank?" Harumi was confused.

"This guy?" Erika wondered, pointing at Frank.

"What do you want from me? Who do you serve?" Frank asked.

"You're the perfect meal for the Lord of Chaos," said the woman. "And I shall feed my lord, as I promised! If you don't want to cooperate, then I will make you do so…"

The woman waved her hands, as crimson and black colored threads made of Arcana Magic made the bodies of the students move on their own.

Auras of tremendous power surged from within them as well, as Frank noticed how Elfina and Fiere gained pointy elven ears out of nowhere, while Sol's red hair became brighter, and his body more muscular.

"You see, I found something really wonderful and surprising about this trio! They have incredible untapped potential," the witch laughed. "So much I was baffled they never tapped into it… So, how about we test their true power, hm? People with the Bloodline of Ancient Fae such as those girls are rare, even more a person born with a Heroic Soul."

As the woman spoke, Elfina summoned a pair of spears out of nowhere, of white and black color.

At the same time, her partner summoned a crimson bow and surrounding her there were dozens of arrows made of flames.

And the young man's aura turned into fire, covered with armor made of red and orange, blazing metal, while he held a giant blazing, divine sword.

"Shall we~?"
