Chapter 562: Out of the second world

Bella woke up with the widest smile she was physically able to perform and a giddy attitude, her face so refreshed and dazzling she seemed to shine despite the fact that she wasn't wearing any make up. The rest wore different expressions on their faces, from the troubled maids up to the awkward Tate who avoided Uriel at all costs.

"You don't need to explain anything, in fact, I beg you not to do it." Tate voiced out.

"Seriously, Uriel, he's her brother. You can't keep pushing things like this." Medusa scolded with her usual tenderness, though Uriel could somewhat feel the distance between them.

"Just stop bragging, ok? Kissing and telling is just not right." Kalos snorted with a hint of envy. The fact that Bella was a with didn't take anything from her beautiful appearance.

"But..." Uriel couldn't find the words to make things less awkward and soon realized it was better to limit himself to only speak when spoken to.

"Honey, why don't you take a walk with me?" Bella said with a sharp inviting gaze.

"Why the hell are you all smiles now!? Why don't you tell them nothing happened and set things right?"

"But honey, why do you want me to lie? It was magical..." She sighed with longing.

"The preparations are complete, Miss Bella." A maid whispered in her ear. Bella nodded and exited the mansion where two large metal boxes with a long handle were placed.

"Don't tell me..." Uriel muttered, to which Bella replied with a crooked smile.

"I'm sorry, but this is the only way. As long as you remain inside, your energy signatures won't escape the boxes and they won't be able to see you."

"But what if they ask to check the inside?" Uriel asked dubiously.

"Don't be silly, they have no need to check the containers when they're supposed to be empty. Me and my brother are going to disguise this as a hunt for flux orbs. With some luck, after rescuing your friends we'll have plenty to justify this trip."

Uriel didn't like the idea of being locked inside a metal box in the slightest, but he had to admit it was quite a clever way to avoid suspicions and needless fights. After all, getting to the third world and getting there with their flux reserves untouched could prove to be the difference between life and death.

Without any complaints, Uriel and Kalos each entered one of the boxes leaving Medusa with no choice but to share the already reduced space with one or the other. As soon as she stepped inside the box, Uriel felt something shattering inside of him when he noticed that she chose the other one, though he didn't have much time to say or do anything as the door closed soon after.

By casting a constant flow of wind, Bella was able to lift the container that carried Uriel without effort at all, though when it was Tate's turn he realized he was incapable of doing the same.

"We'll have to switch, sister." Tate shrugged.

"Oh, but I wanted... nevermind, maybe they're too fat for you to carry by yourself." Bella scoffed.

"It's not fat, hunters' density is different that regular humans!" Kalos shouted, his voice muffled by the metal container.

The way towards the main island where the passage to the third world was located was mainly uneventful, except for the low control over the wind current Tate possessed, which caused the container to rattle the entire time sometimes even clashing against rocks. The bruises, although painful, managed to distract Uriel from his personal issues.

"What are you carrying?" A distant voice Uriel could barely hear asked.

"It's none of your business!" Bella roared.

"Come on, sister, they're just doing their job. We're not carrying anything, actually, we're just going for a little hunt."

"Such big containers for just the two of you? You must really be confident in your abilities..."

"Hey, they're from the Eurus family. Just let them pass or they may charge us extra for the things we want to buy, remember they're the ones who bring our stuff from the city."

"Just wait for the paperwork to be done, alright?"

Locked inside the floating metal box that shook violently every now and then made the few minutes that took the guards to finish the paperwork feel like hours. Things didn't get much better once they continued moving and it still took a while until Tate knocked on the box a couple times.

"Coast is clear, Lieutenant."

"Finally!" Uriel hopped out of the large box feeling seasick, but despite being carried by Bella's steady wind flow, Kalos had it worse. "What happened to you?"

"You should ask her." He grunted at Medusa who shrugged her shoulders.

"I warned him that if he tried anything I'd give him a black eye."

"Did he try to do anything?" Uriel asked while trying to come up with a good lie to tell Alessandro after killing his son.

"No, that was the warning." Medusa replied crossing her arms in a proud manner.

"We should start moving, it won't be long until cryptids pick up our presence." Tate informed in his accustomed disciplined manner. Uriel was about to speak, but was cut short by a speeding rock that hissed past him.

"These traitors, they turned us in!" Kalos growled as he looked for an exit, finding that the only way was through the rainbow which was swarmed by cryptids already.

"What is the meaning of this? The Eurus family won't stay idle for this offense." Bella flew just a couple meters towards the enemy.

"I can't believe you have the gall to say that to my face, Bella. Your report said you killed him, but it turns out you were hiding him from us. Just wait until the elders hear about it. You won't just lose your seat at the council, your entire family will fall in disgrace." Easton said with a smirk that disappeared the moment he realized Bella launched towards him.

Before she could reach him, though, a wall of stone appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Bella crashed onto the wall crumbling it to pieces, but before she could take flight again a powerful water jet hit her. thanks to her instant wind barrier she suffered no harm, but she was pushed away at a great distance.

"Keep her away, I'll deal with them." Easton hurled a fireball that Uriel rushed to block with the 'Red thread of fate'. Instead of dissipating like he expected, it burst with a booming sound sending Uriel tumbling back directly beneath Medusa's feet.

In the meantime, Kalos had already shifted into his treefolk form which rendered the rock projectiles completely useless, though as soon as the enemy noticed it, the wind user stepped in with wind blades so powerful they left deep cuts into Kalos' bark.

"See how you like that, monster!" The wind element user gloated in victory.

Thankfully, this time Tate wasn't facing someone from the Eurus family and was completely free to use his trait. The first thing he did was create an upward wind directly behind the air user, knowing full well that he would use his own flux to counter the updraft.

"Rookie mistake." Tate grinned after turning the wind current into a downward direction, causing both his flux and that of his opponent to add up and accelerate his downfall like a meteorite.

"My legs! Help me!" Because of the speed at which he fell to the ground, both his legs shattered into pieces causing him to scream in pain. Only for a brief moment, though, since his internal organs were crushed along with his legs.

"I can't use healing zone and shoot at the same time!" The water user shouted without daring to part her eyes from Bella. Keeping her at bay was of the utmost importance, traitor or not she was known to be the strongest wind user in her family.

"Here, let me help." A wave of relief traversed her body when she heard those words, though it lasted only until she noticed the puncture wound on her belly caused by a red dagger.

Every second Uriel kept the dagger jabbed inside the water user's body allowed him to heal from the previous explosion he endured, but he didn't have enough time to recover entirely and decided to use Dash once more to take some distance.

This proved to be the right decision as it allowed Bella to return to the group right before enemy reinforcements arrived. Dozens of elemental users joined the fray, taking vantage positions to shoot elemental projectiles at the small party.

Thanks to her trait, Bella was unharmed and even her clothes were completely dry, but a deep frown on her face made it obvious she was starting to get angry.

"Let me handle this..." Bella channeled her flux energy, but soon lost focus when she felt a firm hand on her shoulder which sent shivers down her spine.

"They knew you were going to smuggle us outside the second world, I bet the group that found us was the one that informed them. That means they stalled us instead of stopping us for a reason, most likely so they can corner us here."

"I see, the more flux we channel, the more cryptids will show up in our way and we'll end up trapped," Bella nodded with sparkling admiration in her eyes. "what should we do then?"

"Lieutenant, we're under heavy fire, we should retreat now." Tate did his best to deviate as many projectiles as possible, but the denser the projectile the more difficult it was to move which gave an advantage to the earth users.

"I have an idea. Bella, did you bring your mirror?" Puzzled by Uriel's strange request, Bella complied and watched him speak to the mirror with a somber tone. "Bloddy Mary, Bloody Mary..."
