Chapter 896: Sustained...
Chapter 896: Sustained…
A week passed since they tampered with the Sealing Formation.
Wu Long sat in a lotus pose within the red plains of his own Mysic Realm.
But unlike usually, when this place was stuck in perpetual sunset, it was dark, as dark clouds swirled above, and lightning strikes fell all around.
There was a stone in a distance, which was connected with arches of lightning with the heaven and earth.
The area around already was charred, losing the redness of the soil.
There were also strikes of lighting into the shield of lightning around Wu Long, but he sat unperturbed, examining the lightning.
By now he knew that there was an immense charge of a particular, unique type of lightning, just like there were mystic Earth Flames with their own properties.
All of that charge was concentrated within the stone, which was a 4th-tier Profound Grade ore that could store lightning, so it wasn’t the stone which interested him but the lightning itself.
After observing and contemplating it for a long time, something within his eyes lit up as he finally unraveled the mysteries of this lightning.
‘Sustained-Charge Lightning’, was the name Wu Long thought of as he finally felt the Lightning Dao Rune of this lightning, assigning the name by the quality of this lightning to seek out a constant self-contained loop, and having a stronger adhesion, or stronger attractive force to not dissipate any of the energy, constantly collecting it back into the loop.
This was the reason Wu Long found it hard to block this lightning on the mountain where he found it, as it was not really trying to destroy him, it was trying to get back into the loop and he was in the way preventing it from circulating. The destructive force he felt was just a byproduct of the strong adhesiveness of the lightning to the loop and sheer amount of lightning charge.
He stood up, and stretching his hand, an arch of Lightning stretched toward the Lightning Rune within the Stone. There was a short struggle, during which Wu Long simply supplied his own Lightning Rune with enormous amounts of Spiritual Qi which allowed it to prevail and absorb the new Lightning Rune, after which he felt the Sustained-Charge Lightning all around him, and infusing his Lightning Qi, gained control.
He then extracted the charge from the stone, collecting all of it that was left within the air and earth.
“Hah… this could certainly come in handy”, Wu Long chuckled, looking at a ball of lightning in his hand, now completely harmless to him as it was completely contained within that ball, not a single spark leaving it, as if it was just a luminescent marble even though it was a deadly charge that could burn a clean hole through even him.
This, of course, was one use of this lightning, as the attacks made of this lightning were bound to maintain shape as long as he made the loop right.
However, there were other uses beyond simple throwing of lightning.
A constant problem with his physical enhancement by passing lightning through his body was that it used up quite a bit of energy, however, if it was this Sustained-Charge Lightning, it could potentially, perpetually run through his small 216 cores within the blood vessels comprising the Runic Thunder Vein Body in a closed loop.
There was also a problem of stabilization, as the more Lightning he used, the more of it escaped out of the paths he made for the lightning and damaged his body internally, which was why there was a threshold on how much he could raise his physical prowess with lightning.
Not to mention, he had to proportionally use quite a bit of Cold Qi of the Cold Rune in combination with the Water Rune and Blood Rune to cool the body at the same time as the lightning was running through it.
But with the stronger attractive force of the Sustained-Charge Lightning, it would keep even higher intensity charges strictly within lanes as long as he planned out the circuit path right.
As he now already possessed this Lightning’s Dao Rune within his own, he was able to gradually turn the ball of lightning in his hand into Lightning Qi and absorb it, not fearing to lose it as he could now generate Sustained-Charge Lightning at will.
This took him nearly the whole day, but the Eternal Duality Valley was busy with preparations for their charge into the Great Wilderness, as they planned to ready as much as they could beforehand.
They even started building the fortress beforehand, in ready-to-assemble parts which they would only have to put together and reinforce later.
Of course, all the Symbol Arts Masters were busy with creating array disks and formation catalysts for the formation as well.
This gave him some leeway of free time which he could use for this and other things he was putting aside, since he wasn’t, for once, busy doing everything for the Eternal Duality Valley on his own, the Sect starting to gradually work independently following his general commands.
Though it still required some time and effort from his beauties for now, but even that was starting to become less apparent, as their second-in-command people were starting to step up. Of course, that was still a gradual process.
Through Zhao Xieren, Wu Long supplied Ko Fuan with means to covertly start increasing his cultivation, along with a method to conceal it even from his father, so along with the Tiebi Mountain Sect, Three Pillars Sect and the Ember Palm Pavilion, all preparations outside the Sect were also progressing smoothly.
He concentrated, exiting his Mystic Realm after about 10 minutes of concentration. Of course, he could ask Fen Baihu to accelerate that process, but he tried not to rely on that aside from when it was needed to be done fast, in order to train his control.
Of course, he gleamed insights from feeling how she manipulated their combined abilities, but struggling to do it himself still brought more benefits to his training.
Once in the Oak Fortress, he looked through the reports that Butler Bang gave him.
He chuckled, reading through one that said Wei Yuanjie got Duan Feng to spar with him, not believing he was a swordsman because the latter was blind, and got beaten several times.
‘So that’s why he stopped pestering me about training him’, Wu Long thought as Wei Yuanjie was whining about Wu Long not giving him much sword training ever since they got to the Soft Meadow Continent, but it was quiet in the last three days.
He then saw a report from Old Yen’s group, who returned with results.
“Hmm~… I guess it would be a good time to go visit the Crystal Wood Sect, huh…”, Wu Long sighed, as Old Yen confirmed that there wasn’t really an easy option for recruiting the wood-attribute cultivators who were interested in Medicine Dao.
To be exact, he was going to visit not the Crystal Wood Sect itself, but a World their main Sect was located in, which was also a World in which a branch of the Medicine God’s Pavilion – the single greatest authority on the Medicine Dao throughout the Seven Boundless Worlds – was located in these parts of the Land of the 10,000 Dynasties.
A lot of applicants to become Disciples of the Crystal Wood Sect were actually those who failed to join the Medicine God’s Pavilion, but there were also those who joined smaller, less affluent groups of Medicine Dao practitioners.
Since everyone was safe here with Fen Baihu, and there was this time during which everyone was busy with preparations while he was relatively free, it was prime time for him to make a quick trip there to see if he could snatch up some of the talents. And since it concerned her, he was planning to take Gong Liwei with him as well.
Of course, as the one who could give him a read on the people, Nie Xiwang also was going with him.
Ideally, he would take Xue Bing and Shen Min with him as well, but as they were in deep meditations on their Extreme Yin Physiques along with Luo Mingyu, he did not disrupt their concentration.
At the same time, it wasn’t a big enough trip for everyone to go there, and most of them were busy with preparations.
Even those free of duties related to the operation of the Sect on the continent and the Great Wilderness expedition were busy.
Wu Mengqi was locked in training, having recently lost in a spar to Bi Rui ten times in a row for the first time ever since they started their friendly rivalry in the Azure Eagle Empire, as they were mostly even.
Bi Rui, not wishing to lose out, and not resting on her laurels was also locked in intense training of her own.
Feng Yi seemed to be on the verge of a breakthrough in her Archery Dao, so she spent nearly all of her time practicing as well.
Song Lingfei, having unlocked her bloodline power was now in deep meditation, connecting with her bloodline legacy through her newly obtained wings.
Hua Ziyan was busy with consuming and processing all of the knowledge on Dual Cultivation and Yin attribute that she obtained.
Cai Yin was also still absorbing the crystals of Soul-type Demonic Beasts, absorbing and refining that energy, as her carps slowly became more life-like in the details of their shapes.
Hong Ye and Hong Yue were training, having understood that from now on they might have to meet other assassins of the Seven Boundless Worlds who were on par with the Bahshi Assassination Group.
Wei Lan was determined to make the tree that Wu Long brought to bear Dao Fruits, or at least see if she could make it give any kind of fruit at all, even though he told her that he only thought of it in a spur of the moment, and she did not have to worry about it.
And Gong Cui was helping others while simultaneously training her Music Dao, having taken a bit of Luo Mingyu’s burden off since the latter’s concern that she could not help others was disrupting her focus, which was why Gong Cui decided to alleviate it.
Ye Ling, as always, had her Sword Dao to meditate on, as well as look after the Dao Family while Wu Long was away.
And then there was Yuanfen, who went into his Mystic Realm on her own, expressing her wish to not be away from him. Strangely, even that red plain that always gave off an eerie feeling of a cursed place became a pleasant sight when she appeared in it.
There was a small part of the mansion from Fen Baihu’s Mystic Realm that was transfered there so that the place was not so inhospitable for Gong Liwei and Nie Xiwang, and now Yuanfen, while Wu Long traveled, as he could only move at his top speed when he was alone.
To be honest, the wood cultivators was supposed to be a larger arc of its own later on, but as I was readying for the expedition in the Great Wilderness I realized I effed up when I was planning this whole part of the plot out in the original outline. As the wood cultivators were somehow both crucial in the Great Wilderness, and their arc was pushed to happen after the Soft Continent Art *shrug of confusion* (I really don’t know what was my thought process back then, it was quite a while ago lol), so… I am making this slightly out of the left pivot into a tiny small and very short arc of getting us some of those healers lol ^^” *facepalm* *sigh* *distant look*
