Dual Cultivation God Returns

Chapter 878: No task...

Chapter 878: No task…

Wu Long’s second conversation with the Head of the Helian Family and his wife, closer to the evening of the first day of Wu Long’s stay in the Helian Household, lasted for several hours, and was seemingly in a much more somber tone, as Helian Muyang who came into the room after Wu Long left, saw his parents exchanging meaningful looks, seemingly both deep in heavy thoughts.

In the morning of the second day, Wu Long was approached by the Elder who was until then unsuccessful in getting close to him.

“Daoist Wu”

“I think we understood each other well yesterday, Elder Helian. If it is about Yuanjie, I have absolutely no relation to that situation you got yourself into”, Wu Long spoke shaking his head, speaking without the usual double-speak that nobles were so used to.

This put Helian Muyang’s uncle into a stunned silence, as he wasn’t expecting such a blunt response. But this also made it abundantly clear to him where Wu Long stood.

Wu Long’s later days in the Helian House were mostly idle time with his beauties and training in meditation, while the trio worked in the background to gather more information he could act on.

“Hehe, you have some scheme on your mind again”, Wu Long’s darker toned mist partially became brighter and then Fen Baihu appeared from within the white part of the mist next to him, which did not fully dissipate but became a sort of large pillow she leaned on while looking at him with a smile and look full of mischief.

Her mist was naturally flowing from within his, entwining as her eight fluffy tails swayed in a playful way.

“You already figured out how to do it? And here I am struggling just to maintain my mist”, he wryly chuckled, opening his eyes as she figured out how to channel her powers through his mist using the bond between them already.

“I just felt you opening it up for me, so it didn’t feel much different from using my own mist, it was like I suddenly felt a part of my power that I lost somewhere and now got access to it again”, she shrugged.

“Makes sense, he nodded, and feeling as she helped him sustain his mist around, leaned back, mimicking the way she used her mist.

It adapted, becoming a sort of backseat which he could lean back to from the meditative pose he was in.

She smiled, drifting a bit closer to him, which made it look like they were half-laying half-sitting next to each other in opposite directions on large dark and light misty cushions.

“You still haven’t responded to my question”, she then added.

“Was that a question? Sounded more like a statement to me, though you’re not wrong so I didn’t feel the need to correct you”, he smiled.

“Admitting it quite quickly this time I see? Want to know how I knew?”

“I had a look of scheming something in my eyes again?”

“Haha, no, not this time. But you didn’t let Sister Ye kill that young man’s uncle to solve the problem”

“It’ll certainly solve the problem”, Wu Long shrugged, “But that won’t solve anything for others, as they need closure. Not to mention, in this case, cutting off the head won’t deal with all the rot that follows that head, it will just assimilate for the time being. Sure, it’ll be possible to root it out with Min’er’s Veiled Sentinels later, but I would much rather not let it set foot into my Eternal Duality Valley at all”

“As thorough as always”, she chuckled, rolling a bit on the mist, which moved to keep her relatively in place, as she now leaned her back onto it, stretching her hand to her man, tracing the side of his face with a tender movement of her fingers.

His hand went up to catch hers, bringing her palm to touch his cheek as he closed his eyes and enjoyed the sensation, and then turned a bit to kiss the center of her palm.

“Haha”, she giggled, moving forward and weaving both hands around his neck, climbing on to him as their lips met in a kiss, their mists entwining even more, forming swirling patters of light and dark mist.

As Wu Long entered Wei Lan’s garden, he saw a scene which put a smile on his face, as Gong Liwei who came to help in the garden as usual, but for the first time since she obtained her Wood Element, was surrounded by butterflies of the garden.

This scene of her happily looking around as they flew around her suddenly reminded him of something.

He came closer, and as she saw him, she giggled with a look of wonder, saying “I don’t know what is it today… I’ve never seen them behave like this…”

“They are reacting to the Wood Qi and Life Qi you now possess”, Wu Long spoke as he came closer and as he raised his hand, a butterfly flew up to his bent finger, landing on it, making her eyes shine.

“Do you like butterflies?”, he then asked, looking at her.

“Mm? Yes, hehe, they’re pretty. And we both like flowers… maybe it was because I was experimenting if I could create flowers with Wood Qi, hehe”, she chuckled, her happy smile filling him with a feeling of contentment.

“Then I will create a technique for you”

“Eh?”

“I just got reminded when I saw you amid butterflies”, Wu Long nodded, “I once found an Ancient Inheritance in a long-lost ruin in the Great Wilderness of the Boundless Divine World… a very powerful one but ultimately something I couldn’t use back then… I think I can modify it and combine with a few other techniques, though you’ll have to wait a bit”

“Wu Long, I…”, she widened her eyes, knowing how much he already had on his plate, and not wishing to add any more burdens.

But he simply shook his head, with a smile. A look in his eyes saying it was already a done deal, as no task was too big if it brought a smile to his lady.

She couldn’t hold in a joyful smile as she rushed to him, the butterflies flying up but not too far, circling around the two as they kissed.

Hehe, another shorter chap, this time with a bit more of a romantic focus, but this time it’s all plot-related ^^
