Douluo: Transforming Xiao Wu into a Zerg Queen Was Just the Beginning

Chapter 7: Body Modification – First Encounter with a Thousand-Year Soul Beast!

Chapter 7 - 7: Body Modification – First Encounter with a Thousand-Year Soul Beast!

After finalizing his plans, Lin Fan suddenly remembered something—didn't the Hatchery now have some sort of enhancement chamber?

"Cerebrate," Lin Fan asked, "what exactly is the enhancement function?"

[With each upgrade of the Hatchery, the host may undergo a single physical enhancement, based on the power system of the current world.]

Lin Fan instantly perked up.

He had always been worried about his lack of personal combat strength—his own safety was far from guaranteed. And now? The perfect opportunity had landed right in his lap!

"I'm ready!" Lin Fan said, excited. "Cerebrate, how do I begin the enhancement?"

Squelch—!

A massive opening suddenly appeared in the Level 2 Hatchery.

[Please enter the enhancement chamber, my Overmind.]

With curiosity, Lin Fan stepped inside.

The interior was soft and fleshy, pinkish in color. Despite its grotesque biological design, it was warm and surprisingly clean—typical of Zerg structures.

However, the chamber was completely empty.

"How does the enhancement work?" Lin Fan asked.

[Please relax your body and mind. Enhancement will begin shortly.]

As the Cerebrate's voice faded, tendrils of flesh burst from the chamber walls and wrapped tightly around Lin Fan's body, while sticky biological fluid oozed out and covered him head to toe.

In no time, he was wrapped up like a giant cocoon.

Strangely, despite being tightly bound, Lin Fan didn't feel the slightest bit of suffocation.

On the contrary—the air entering his lungs felt cool and refreshing.

[Preparation complete. Enhancement commencing.]

A chill suddenly washed over his body, as if some cold liquid was being injected into his bloodstream.

Soon, his body was fully sealed in a giant cocoon, and the fluids seemed to have a mild anesthetic effect. Within moments, Lin Fan drifted off into a deep sleep.

The Cerebrate automatically assumed control of the swarm in his absence.

The five new Level 1 Hatcheries had completed incubation. The two Infestation Pits were still under construction, and the Zerg's energy reserves had been fully depleted—for now, mass production had to pause.

Still, dozens of Zerglings were actively hunting on the surface, with the patrol range slightly expanded. Behind them, every Drone was mobilized, dragging soul beast corpses back to be processed by the upcoming Infestation Pits.

While the Creep could convert any organic matter into energy, its efficiency was limited—and it couldn't extract special traits from soul beasts. The Infestation Pits would solve both problems.

Not only would they drastically improve energy conversion, but their corrosive fluids could dissolve any material, allowing the Zerg to expand what it could feed on. Even better, they could meticulously extract rare genetic traits, vastly expanding the swarm's Gene Bank.

The Cerebrate ran detailed analysis and restructuring on the previously extracted genes, isolating this world's unique energy traits—then began integrating them into the swarm.

Soon, a thick biological tube inserted itself into Lin Fan's cocoon, pumping in a new wave of fluids.

Still unconscious, Lin Fan had no idea what kind of surprise awaited him when he awoke...

Time passed.

Lin Fan slowly woke, tearing away the cocoon wrapped around him.

He emerged, fully transformed.

Looking down at himself, he saw pale, smooth skin with well-defined muscles. Every inch of his body radiated power—lean, explosive strength that made him look like a finely tuned weapon.

With a single clench of his fist, he could feel the raw energy coursing through his limbs.

Taking a deep breath, Lin Fan muttered, "So... this is what it feels like to be strong."

"Cerebrate, assess my current strength."

[Based on analysis, the Overmind's current physical strength is equivalent to a 900-year soul beast.]

Lin Fan was ecstatic, staring in disbelief at his own body.

Only the first enhancement, and he was already on par with a high-level hundred-year soul beast—nearly at thousand-year level!

Even without a martial soul, his physique alone was enough to crush a Soul Grandmaster! He could probably even overwhelm weaker Soul Elders with three rings!

His heart raced. He needed to test this in battle.

After all, strength without real combat experience was just empty stats.

He reconnected to the Zerg neural network, absorbing all current swarm activity and structural progress.

At the same time, a detailed panel appeared before him.

Scanning it, he paused. "Hmm? Energy-to-matter conversion? What's this, Cerebrate?"

[The Overmind can now spend energy equal to the object's value to create that object.]

"Wait—anything?"

[In theory, yes. But unique or rare items require special energy sources. Living creatures cannot be created.]

"Damn!"

Sure, there were restrictions—he wouldn't be recreating god-tier items like the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well anytime soon.

Still, even with limitations, this function had massive potential in a world like Douluo Dalu!

[Warning! Zergling casualty rate increasing!]

Suddenly, a sharp alarm echoed in his mind.

Lin Fan's expression shifted.

In mere seconds, he had lost psychic links with over a dozen Zerglings!

That meant they were dead!

Against soul beasts under a hundred years, Zerglings could dominate. Even regular hundred-year beasts could only pose a threat through tactics or numbers.

But losing more than ten in such a short time? That was bad.

He immediately shifted his awareness into the Zergling neural feed—activating Third-Person View, a unique Overmind ability that allowed him to project his consciousness into any Zerg unit and control them directly.

Lin Fan quickly linked to one Zergling, and the scene unfolded before him:

A massive scorpion-like soul beast was slaughtering Zerglings left and right. Its body was enormous.

Even with superior numbers, the Zerglings couldn't get close.

Its attacks were precise and brutal—one swipe from its massive claws could pulp a Zergling instantly. A few tried to flank it, but the beast's venomous tail lashed out, spraying acidic green fluid that melted them on contact.

Even viewing it through a Zergling's eyes, Lin Fan felt the overwhelming pressure this creature radiated.

He narrowed his eyes.

During its venom spray, the scorpion's body pulsed with vivid purple light.

No doubt about it—this was a thousand-year soul beast!

Lin Fan paused. He didn't recall a creature like this from the original Douluo Dalu.

But then again—Douluo was a vast world. There were countless undocumented soul beasts. It was no surprise he hadn't seen them all.

Still... A thousand-year beast was just a threshold. And yet it had already forced his Zerglings to a standstill?

His eyes turned sharp.

"Cerebrate, transfer full control of the Zerglings to me!"

[Acknowledged. Overmind command initiated.]

Lin Fan cracked his neck. A savage grin crept across his face.

They had no idea who they were dealing with.

Back in his previous life, he was a master of StarCraft micromanagement.

Multi-threaded unit control? Child's play.

His vision shifted to a full god's-eye view of the battlefield. He saw every Zergling. The massive soul beast. The terrain.

"Time to show this native... what real micro looks like."

"Let me teach you the art of kiting."
