Chapter 11 - 11: Tricking Xiao Wu, The Level 3 Hatchery is Complete!
Lin Fan could barely contain his excitement.
He had finally confirmed both his location and the timeline.
He was in — the Star Dou Great Forest, before the main plot had even begun!
Xiao Wu must have just recently taken on human form, which meant Tang San had likely only just awakened his martial spirit—or maybe hadn't even awakened it yet!
To Lin Fan, this was an earth-shattering revelation!
Nothing had started yet, and with the terrifying developmental speed of the Zerg...
He could already see his Zerg army devouring the entire Douluo Continent!
When Tang San finally ascended to godhood as the Sea God, only to return and find his homeland already a lifeless wasteland—what kind of despair would he feel?
No!
A glint of cruelty flashed in Lin Fan's eyes. He had begun developing this early—there was no way he was letting Tang San become a god!
"Hahahahahaha! Tang San, Douluo!"
His maniacal laughter echoed throughout the underground hive.
Those fortuitous encounters, the resources, the treasures yet to be discovered—
They were all his now!
Lin Fan was overjoyed. The heavy uncertainty that had hung over his heart was finally gone.
So everything hadn't even started yet.
And he was lucky enough to be born in the uninhabited depths of the Star Dou Forest!
It was destiny!
Taking a few deep breaths to steady himself, Lin Fan refocused.
He transferred his consciousness into the Hydralisk on the surface and controlled it to slowly approach Xiao Wu.
Xiao Wu's back was pressed tightly against a tree, her delicate face filled with fear.
What were these grotesque soul beasts?
She had lived in the Star Dou Forest for 100,000 years, but had never seen anything like them.
"Da Ming, Er Ming... where are you..."
Right now, Xiao Wu deeply regretted sneaking out without telling them. Was she really going to die here?
A Hydralisk, over two meters tall, slowly crawled in front of her.
It lowered its terrifying head to study her, its narrow, crimson pupils making Xiao Wu instinctively avert her gaze.
She looked up at the monstrous soul beast, her small hands trembling helplessly.
Her large, watery eyes were filled with panic.
Lin Fan, observing through the Hydralisk's vision, couldn't help but feel moved. As expected of Douluo's female lead—she really was stunning.
Her face, her figure—it was all stunningly attractive.
The Hydralisk slowly turned its back to her and raised its scythe-like claws, letting out a low hiss.
Xiao Wu was completely confused.
This soul beast... wasn't going to hurt her?
It hissed again and gestured with its claws.
Xiao Wu had never encountered such a strange soul beast—no soul power fluctuations at all—but it seemed to possess intelligence equal to a human's.
She cautiously asked, "Do you want me to follow you?"
Her soft voice reached Lin Fan's ears, and he nearly facepalmed.
A Soft Bone Rabbit with 100,000 years of cultivation—and she was still this timid?
He had the Hydralisk lower its claws to the ground once more and hiss again.
Xiao Wu finally understood.
Though she didn't know why this creature didn't want to harm her, her instincts as a soul beast told her it wasn't dangerous. In fact, she was starting to find the monster kind of endearing.
She gently stepped onto the scythe, and the Hydralisk lifted her onto its back before slowly crawling forward.
Xiao Wu clung to the sharp spines along its back, feeling the cold hardness of its shell.
This soul beast... it felt like it was made purely for battle. Everything about its body was sharp and armored.
And it only made her more curious—where exactly was this mysterious creature taking her?
The Hydralisk crawled to a quiet spot in the forest, stopping before a massive boulder. Suddenly, the grassy field before them split open to reveal a pitch-black hole.
The Hydralisk carried Xiao Wu inside.
It was a tunnel—long and dark.
Xiao Wu's heart raced as she stared into the blackness stretching downward. She held tightly to the creature's back, her fingers clutching at its spines.
After crawling for some distance, the space suddenly opened up.
The tunnel was lined with lush grass and blooming flowers, a surprisingly serene sight.
Xiao Wu reached out with a curious finger and gently poked the grass. It was soft and strange to the touch.
The further they went, the larger the tunnel became.
Eventually, the Hydralisk emerged into a massive underground world.
Everywhere was covered in that same strange grass, decorated with flowers. The cave was vast. In the distance, several bizarre buildings loomed—just as grotesque as the creatures that had surrounded her earlier. They twitched slightly, as if alive.
One structure towered above the rest, nearly touching the ceiling. It was covered in a white membrane that gave off an unsettling aura, as if it were watching her.
These soul beasts... they didn't seem to communicate. They just moved silently through the world.
So this was their home?
They'd been hiding beneath the Star Dou Forest this entire time?
No wonder she'd never heard of them.
Xiao Wu stared in awe. Everything here was new to her.
Because the creep had been altered to appear like grassland, the entire underground space was lush and green. Even the walls and ceiling were covered in greenery.
It looked fresh and alive—if not for the twisted buildings, one could almost mistake it for paradise.
Lin Fan slowly stepped out of the hatchery and studied Xiao Wu.
Hearing the movement, Xiao Wu quickly turned to look at him.
Bronzed skin, a strong physique, long black hair—he looked only slightly older than her.
But his eyes were cold and emotionless, like the bloodthirsty beasts that roamed the forest.
He radiated a chilling, violent aura that made Xiao Wu shiver.
A human?
He looked human... but living down here?
Could he be a 100,000-year-old soul beast in human form?
That had to be it! That would explain all these strange creatures. They must be his clan.
Xiao Wu spoke first: "How long have you been in human form?"
Lin Fan blinked. What? Then it clicked—she thought he was a soul beast who had taken human form!
"Ah... not long," he replied with a strange expression.
Xiao Wu immediately lit up with excitement—finally, someone like her!
"I just transformed not long ago too! What kind of soul beast are you? I've never seen one like you before."
Lin Fan quickly racked his brain, trying to come up with something convincing.
But before he could speak—
"Screeeee—"
A loud crack shattered the silence as the towering hatchery burst open, releasing an overwhelming pressure.
At its peak, a lifelike statue of what looked like a flying dragon slowly twisted and pulsed, eerily realistic.
Xiao Wu's mouth fell open in shock.
She had never seen such a majestic, terrifying building in her life!
Just then, the Overmind's voice rang out in Lin Fan's mind.
Lin Fan's face went pale, his whole body trembling.
A massive surprise was incoming!
