Chapter 881 - 884: Raising Aidan Lucas’s Suspicions (1)

Chapter 881: Chapter 884: Raising Aidan Lucas’s Suspicions (1)

Lily held the freshly brewed coffee, knocking on the grand door of the CEO’s office.

She had made up her mind. She was going to leave.

“Come in.”

The man’s voice, cool and abstinent, came from inside.

Standing outside the door, Lily tried hard to regulate her breathing before finally pushing the door open.

At this moment in the CEO’s office, Aidan Lucas was not sitting in his office chair but casually lounging on the sofa, looking down at the documents in his hands.

Director Cooper stood silently to the side, a faint unease evident on his face.

One seated, one standing, neither directed their gaze at Lily as she entered with the coffee.

Lily looked up and stealthily glanced at Aidan Lucas.

Seated on the sofa, his eyebrows slightly furrowed, his deep-set, jet-black eyes were cast down, making it impossible to read the emotions on his face.

No wonder Director Cooper was so frightened.

This Aidan Lucas, as if shrouded in a thin layer of ice, was completely different from the man who had pinned her to the bed and ravaged her through the night before.

Lily held her breath, proceeding forward without a sound.

Yet, the legs that usually moved so confidently in high heels were betraying her today.

After only a couple of steps, she twisted her ankle, and the seven-inch heel skewed to the side.

Unable to react in time, she let out a muffled groan, and immediately after, the coffee cup fell from her hand to the floor.

With a “crash,” the coffee cup shattered into pieces.

The rich aroma of coffee filled the entire space.

Lily, enduring the sharp pain in her left ankle, bit down on her teeth and crouched down in pain.

“I’m so sorry, I wasn’t careful… I’ll clean this up right away…”

The woman’s voice, clearly trembling, drew the man’s attention.

The man, who had been looking down, finally lifted his head.

He saw the woman, with fingertips as pale as scallions, attempting to pick up the fragments from the floor.

His deep eyes instantly tightened; he hated to see his woman hurt.

The thought came so swiftly that before Aidan Lucas could react, he coldly said, “Director Cooper, you can leave now.”

What?! Director Cooper thought he had misheard, and even with his experience in handling affairs, he couldn’t help but show a look of astonishment.

The BOSS wanted him to leave?

Hadn’t the BOSS just said that this project was extremely important and that he wanted him to rewrite the report immediately after reviewing it?

How come he was no longer in a hurry?

Director Cooper instantly understood that he hadn’t misheard as Aidan Lucas’s profound and icy gaze swept over him again.

He glanced at the assistant still bending down to pick up pieces and suddenly realized she looked familiar.

On closer inspection, wasn’t this Alice, the one who came for the interview the other day?!

She had rejected his offer to sign her as the female lead, and now, in the blink of an eye, she had become the CEO’s Assistant?! Director Cooper suddenly felt as if he had uncovered some secret.

Without another word, he grabbed the documents and quickly made himself scarce.

Man, this was some shocking gossip!

He knew there was a reason why the CEO had specifically instructed him to take extra care of this woman; his hunch hadn’t been wrong.

So it turned out Mr. Cooper had indeed been moved by worldly affections!

Director Cooper left posthaste, even thoughtfully closing the office door for them as he went.

Once the door was shut, Aidan Lucas strode over to where Lily was crouching.

He stopped right in front of her.

“Stop picking it up.”

There was an unusual patience in the man’s deep voice.

Yet Lily turned a deaf ear, not knowing why she was being so stubborn, but she simply didn’t want to listen to him.
