Chapter 142 - 142 142 Its Necessary to Know

Chapter 142: Chapter 142: It’s Necessary to Know Chapter 142: Chapter 142: It’s Necessary to Know Ever since Cherish Turner left, Abigail Johnson had been keeping an eye on her. Now that Cherish was back, how could Abigail feel at ease? As a woman, when Daniel Peacock returned from the hotel with a disheveled appearance and the scent of another woman, Abigail was able to recognize that faint fragrance. It was the same scent Cherish had when Abigail saw her for the first time.

Abigail was well aware that Daniel’s previous plan for the animation city had been shelved due to William Griffith’s interference, causing the land approval from Superintendent Thompson to be withheld. As a result, they could only start the first quarter projects and try their best to obtain the land later. The amount of land they currently possessed was less than one-fifth of what they needed for the entire project, but not starting would cause further harm to Kyoto City’s reputation.

Although Abigail was a wealthy heiress, she was not a superficial woman who only knew how to throw tantrums and buy bags. As the sole heir to the Kyoto City Group, she needed to have the skills to take over this heavy responsibility from her father.

Marrying Daniel Peacock was her own choice, as she admired his intelligence.

However, it was clear to her that even an intelligent man like him could not compete with someone like William Griffith, who had both capital and brains.

Since that was the case, it was natural for her not to marry Daniel. Any woman would want a good man, it was just a matter of how they would go about obtaining one.

Cherish clutched her phone and rushed up the stairs, only to see Abigail Johnson.

“Manager Johnson, hello.” At work, Cherish still respectfully addressed her like this.

“Cherish, don’t be so formal. We’re friends after all, and it makes me feel awkward when you call me like that.” Abigail’s voice was typical of a wealthy young lady – a bit coquettish, but with a hint of hidden threat.

“In the company, it’s better for me to call you Manager Johnson.”

Abigail didn’t mind, as she never intended to have genuine friendship with Cherish. Treating her politely right now was purely for the sake of William’s reputation. After all, for the time being, Cherish was publicly acknowledged as William’s woman.

But as for what might happen in the future, who knew?

“Oh, by the way, Cherish, there’s something I think you need to know.” Abigail was about to leave, then suddenly turned back to face Cherish.

“Please tell me, Manager Johnson.”

“Daniel and I have decided to cancel our wedding. Of course, he’s still an employee of Kyoto City Group, but we both agreed to return to just being friends.”

If it hadn’t been for that incident at the hotel, Abigail might not have been so quick to call it quits with Daniel. But there was no point in dragging it out now. It was better to take advantage of his mistake and deliberately bring up the issue of breaking up.

Cherish was taken aback; she didn’t expect Daniel, who had been focusing on winning the heart of a wealthy and beautiful lady, to have his hopes dashed. At this moment, she felt pity for him deep down.

Abigail noticed her expression and left with satisfaction.

When Cherish got back to her desk, she couldn’t help feeling a sense of loss. She didn’t know if it was because of Daniel’s situation, but then she remembered that Daniel and her didn’t have any connection anymore. She decided to mind her own business from now on, as all the consequences were Daniel’s own doing. No one had forced him to break up with her back then.

After finishing work, Cherish eventually made her way back to her home at Cherry Blossom Garden. However, as soon as she stepped inside, she saw a pair of men’s leather shoes at the entrance. Who had come to visit?
