Chapter 182 - 182 Cao Cao's Tomb

Chapter 182: Chapter 182 Cao Cao’s Tomb

Wang Hao led the way up front, carefully walking with a flashlight in his hand, feeling the walls as he walked. Approximately fifty meters ahead, they entered a space that covered over two hundred square meters. Just as everyone was about to step out, Wang Hao suddenly stopped. He said, “Don’t leave this passage yet; wait for me to mark it.”

Everyone watched as Wang Hao used a shovel to make several marks at the entrance of the passage. After marking it, he said, “Alright, come on over now.”

“Brother Hao, are you making these marks because…” Fang Wenbin couldn’t quite understand, but when they finally exited the passage, Wang Hao pointed behind with his flashlight and said, “Take a look behind.”

Fang Wenbin turned around and his scalp tingled—in the wall where they had just emerged were six equally-sized passages!

With six passages leading to another six, if they forgot to mark their path, how would they ever know which way they had come from when they wanted to return? The subterranean world could be vast beyond measure; losing their way could mean never getting out in this lifetime!

“Brother Hao, I am totally convinced; I thoroughly admire you!” Fang Wenbin’s admiration for Wang Hao was like a surging river, “Thank goodness you thought ahead, or we might have had no way back!”

Everyone nodded in agreement, their gazes toward Wang Hao filled with admiration.

Brother Hao was indeed awesome!

The group moved forward to find another six passages. Wang Hao kept to the old rule and quickly, after the dice shook again, pointed and said, “The first one on the right!”

They continued forward, passing through seven such challenges. Just when everyone began to feel a sense of despair, Bai Yaning gently tugged on Wang Hao’s hand and whispered, “Wang Hao, do you see something up ahead?”

“Where?” Wang Hao, who had been hurrying along, hadn’t noticed much until Bai Yaning mentioned it. He looked more carefully and immediately became excited. “Hahaha, we’re finally here! There’s a door ahead!”

There was a door! After such a long trek, they finally saw a door!

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Zhao Zhenhao laughed, “Brother Hao is truly impressive; a door means we’ve reached the end! Brother Hao, do you think there could be traps or something inside?”

Do you think every tomb is as dangerous as those described in ‘Ghost Blowing Lamp’? We’re essentially here for a visit, right?

“It’s not as serious as that,” Wang Hao chuckled and shook his head, “Typically, a tomb is nothing more than digging a hole and burying some soil…”

He was about to suggest they casually stroll in when suddenly a chill wind blew, and a crossbow bolt whizzed past his nose, embedding itself in the wall!

“Whoosh—thump!” It hit the wall!

Wang Hao: “…”

Bai Yaning: “…”

Zhao Zhenhao: “…”

Others: “…”

Damn, I was lucky today; I could have been killed! If that bolt had been just a little off, someone would have died!

“Everyone, get down! Find a corner!” Wang Hao didn’t hesitate to be the first to dive for cover, and soon they heard the sound of “whoosh, whoosh” above them, as bolts fell like rain, clattering as they shot!

But fortunately, Wang Hao was very lucky today, and none touched him!

“Today I really am unbeatable,” Wang Hao finally exhaled after the bolts ceased, “That was scary!”

He shined the flashlight over, and saw the wall was densely packed with at least a few hundred crossbow bolts, enough to terrify anyone with a fear of clusters!

“Bro… Brother Hao,” Fang Wenbin was obviously terrified, “Maybe we should go back…”

They hadn’t even entered the door and had already encountered such a dangerous trap; going back seemed like a good choice—Dammit, I was really lucky today! Starting from the plane crash, then a water tornado, followed by flooding into Golden Mountain, then entering this underground world facing such a huge setup, should we really turn back now? Who knows what the dice might cause next?

What if a giant snake or something appeared…

Wang Hao instinctively shined the light behind him…

“Inhale…” The sight nearly took his breath away! Holy crap, that was a huge snake!

“Run! Run!” Wang Hao yelled, “Keep running forward! Don’t look back!” Saying this, he grabbed Bai Yaning and started running!

Fang Wenbin was last in line and curiously looked back…

“Ah! Help!” Holy shit, that’s a huge snake! No idea how old it is, but judging by its thickness, it must be at least as thick as a water barrel! It looked just like a giant dragon and was swimming toward the group!

This must be the great underground adventure, dammit, Dice Bro, you’re my real brother, you’ve blown me away!!

The group sprinted frantically and covered about fifty meters in one go, and less than five meters ahead was a giant stone door!

At this point, who gives a damn about the door, just go in! Otherwise, these few people wouldn’t be enough to get stuck between the snake’s teeth!

Without a second thought, Wang Hao stepped forward and gave a kick, “Damn it, I’m pissed today! Open sesame!”

Then the door really creaked and slowly opened!

It actually opened! Awesome!

As soon as the door opened, strangely, the giant snake stopped moving forward, and even seemed somewhat afraid, just coiling up and staying motionless!

Holy crap, is this some kind of boss guardian?

At that moment, no time for more thoughts, Wang Hao, holding a flashlight, led everyone through the door, and once inside, everyone was stunned by what the flashlight revealed!

It was an underground space of about a thousand square meters, obviously refurbished, a definite man-made area.

“Holy cow! Brother Hao, your Gold Division and Positioning is dead on!” Zhao Zhenhao exclaimed, “You must be the descendant of the Tomb Raider Captain you mentioned before!”

Can I tell you I totally just guessed based on dumb luck?

“Hehe, some things are better left unsaid,” Wang Hao said nonchalantly, “Wow, this place is really nice and clean…”

Everyone’s admiration for him was flowing endlessly like a mighty river!

Wang Hao said, “Okay, everyone have a look around, but remember not to touch anything recklessly; if there’s poison, it’s not a joke. We haven’t even found an exit yet; getting poisoned would mean certain death.”

Everyone nodded, “Understood, understood!”

So, they all started looking around, and after making a full circle inside this large room, they finally gathered together again and all sighed in unison!

The entire chamber was about fifty meters long and forty meters wide, a perfect rectangle.

Considering such an impressive tomb, it would make sense if it were filled with countless treasures but, problematically, the room was completely empty except for a stone platform at the far end with a skeleton seated on it, wearing a hat inlaid with a Treasure Bead on its skull.

The material of the hat was unknown; the skeleton had long since decayed, yet the hat remained intact.

“Brother Hao, what’s happening?” Fang Wenbin asked, “Who is the owner of this tomb?”

“Actually…” Wang Hao was about to say he didn’t know either, but unexpectedly, the dice in his pocket vibrated suddenly and a piece of information inexplicably appeared in his mind!

After sorting out this information, Wang Hao took a deep breath and said, “If I’m not mistaken, the person sitting on that pedestal should be Cao Cao!”

“Cao Cao!” As an adventure enthusiast, Fang Wenbin was naturally aware of Cao Cao’s Tomb, he exclaimed in surprise, “How is that possible?! Wasn’t Cao Cao’s Tomb unearthed in Xigaoxue Village, Anfeng Town, HNAY City?”

Wang Hao was aware of that tomb of Cao Cao as well.

On December 27, 2009, the HN Province Cultural Relics Bureau announced that after archaeological excavations, it was confirmed that the tomb in southern Xigaoxue Village, Anfeng Town, HNAY City, was indeed Cao Cao’s Tomb. Later in May 2013, it was named the seventh batch of major national cultural relics protected units by the National Cultural Relics Bureau.

Wang Hao had thought the same until just now when the information suddenly fed by the dice seemed to unveil the real truth!

“The tomb is real, but the body of Cao Cao inside is fake,” he said, looking at the skeleton seated on the throne. “Cao Cao was suspicious, and when he set up seventy-two fake tombs back then, he had already planned his escape route. In fact, it wasn’t seventy-two fake tombs, but seventy-three! The one in An Yang’s High Mound was the most realistic seventy-third tomb. After his death, he had his body secretly transferred here for burial.”
