Demon Hunter and His Cabin

Chapter 138: 138 Unknown Area

Chapter 138: Chapter 138 Unknown Area

A black sedan slowly pulled over to the side of the road, the car door opened, and Arlo walked into the apartment with a grim face.

She had just received a piece of infuriating news through some covert connections, Margaret had indeed taken on a new apprentice recently.

Although she did not yet know the other party’s name, Arlo no longer wanted to inquire further; if there were no surprises, it would be that girl named Amanda.

Despite feeling extremely aggrieved, considering the female sorceress’s terrifying influence, she could only swallow the anger with great effort.

Compared to a behemoth like the female sorceress, the Voodoo Association could only strut around in the Bordeaux area; away from their deeply rooted operation here, they were nothing.

As she thought this, she quickly made her way upstairs and opened the door to Room 404.

But as soon as she entered, her face drastically changed—the sunlight from outside poured through the glass, brightening the entire room, dispelling the previously gloomy and confined atmosphere.

She muttered a few Spells under her breath.

After waiting several seconds, nothing happened.

“What’s going on?”

Arlo became furious.

“Who killed my familiar spirit?!”

“Bang!”

The room door behind her slammed shut, and Arlo pulled out her phone to dial a number.

The moment the other end picked up, she launched into a tirade, “Did your people take action without authorization and clear out the stuff in Room 404?”

“What?”

An indifferent voice came from the other end, but then he seemed to understand something, “Impossible, the whole Bordeaux City is in chaos right now, we’re swamped with urgent matters and don’t have time for trivial issues.”

“Then who is it?” Arlo demanded.

“The familiar spirit I was raising in the room is dead, and that was supposed to be a present for my teacher…”

“That’s your problem, what does it have to do with me?”

The person on the other end retorted without the slightest politeness.

“You…”

Arlo only got out one word, but thinking of the other party’s identity and the big figure standing behind him, she had to suppress the rage in her heart.

“As long as it wasn’t your people doing it, that’s fine.”

“I will find out what happened.”

Arlo stated each word deliberately.

“Don’t bother me for nothing, I’m very busy.”

With that, the person on the other line hung up.

“Damn it!!”

With a snap, Arlo crushed the phone in her hand.

“Is the situation in Bordeaux City about to become unstable?”

“Hmph, hmph.”

Arlo sneered, “Just wait, sooner or later, you’ll be coming to us for help!”

After scanning the room and finding nothing, she opened the door and left quickly, “A kind-hearted Hunter?”

A hideous smile appeared at the edge of her mouth.

“What’s the difference between the lives of ordinary people and animals?”

“Don’t you know that meddling in others’ affairs can get people killed?”

……

It was still not dark outside, and naturally, the bar was not crowded yet, and Henrik had not entered through the main entrance but instead circled around from the back. By the time Roger realized, they had followed another passageway down into the basement.

Down the dim corridor, there was a door flashing with red light.

Pushing the door open, the two of them entered another place.

“Wow!”

An exaggerated voice rang out.

“Come over here, everyone, take a look at who has arrived!”

A group of people in the room turned around simultaneously to look at Henrik and Roger at the doorway.

To be precise, Roger was completely ignored by them.

“Henrik, what are you doing here?”

A tall white Burly Man stood up from his seat and walked over with big strides, clenching his fists.

Henrik chuckled nervously and actually retreated, hiding behind Roger.

“You called me here just to help you fight?”

Roger couldn’t help but smile.

“What have you been eating lately, kid? Your physical fitness is almost reaching the human limit, isn’t it?”

As they were speaking, the burly white man had already swung his fist at them, and from the look of it, he had no intention of sparing even Roger who was blocking his path.

“Smack!”

In the nick of time, Roger reached out his hand and blocked the burly man’s punch.

The man was over two meters tall, and by build alone, he could have easily overpowered Roger; but at that moment, his fist was stopped by Roger, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t move it an inch.

“We’ll settle our score after the fight!”

Roger cursed under his breath and lunged into the burly man’s embrace.

Bang!

He slapped his palm against the man’s chest, followed up quickly as the man staggered backward, and then chopped at his neck with his hand shaped like a blade.

Thud!

The burly man’s eyes rolled back, and he fell to the ground, limp.

“Haha!”

Henrik suddenly leaped out from behind, “Who else is looking for trouble with me? Come on!”

“Come at me!”

Roger glared at him, “You…”

“Henrik, you know the rules here. We don’t welcome people like you.”

The voice that had started the conversation came again, and Roger turned to look. It was a young man in his thirties wearing a baseball cap backward and shaking a cocktail shaker, speaking coldly.

“Wandering Hunter Bar, I know the rules. But since when did this place start turning away official hunters?”

Henrik walked up to the bar.

“We’ve founded a new hunter team,” Henrik said, pointing at Roger.

“He’s the boss, and I’m just here to give him a hand. That shouldn’t be a problem, should it?”

The man with the hat hesitated.

Smack!

He put the cocktail shaker on the table and nodded reluctantly.

“You understand the rules. Don’t overstep, don’t stir up trouble.”

Looking at him, it seemed just one more glance at Henrik was too much of an annoyance.

“Two beers.”

Henrik snapped his fingers and took Roger to a seat near a corner.

“What kind of place is this?”

The waitress brought over two beers, and Henrik’s gaze wandered over her, somewhat absent-mindedly.

“Wandering Hunter Bar. This is where Demon Hunters who haven’t joined the Hunters Guild gather.”

“A civilian organization?”

“Something like that. But more often, families form their independent demon hunting teams. Don’t think little of their strength because of this.”

“Powerful Demon Hunter families have long histories. Some of them assume positions in the Hunters Guild, but they also join organizations like this.”

“You could think of it as the difference between the police and private detectives.”

“Though the actual situation is much more complex.”

“The Hunters Guild’s duty is to maintain stability in an area, and sometimes their strategy tends toward the conservative. But here…”

Henrik gently tapped on the table.

“These hunters like to hunt strong prey and enjoy the process of improving themselves. Similarly, their actions are more aggressive, and they proactively explore unknown regions.”

“Unknown regions?”

Roger repeated the words.

Henrik nodded.

“Doesn’t your family have records of that sort of information?”

“Or did you think that Demon Hunters just need to deal with some paranormal incidents and solve the mysteries that the police can’t handle to complete their missions?”

Henrik downed half of his beer in one gulp and glanced at Roger.

“Kid, the world is much bigger and more dangerous than you can imagine.”
