Chapter 1201: You Don't Want To meet me (Part 2)
Alen lifted his hand towards his mouth, and they were visibly shaking. It wasn't the same reaction of sadness that he had felt when Raze spoke particular words. Instead, this was the reaction of pure shock.
'Judging by his reaction, it's clear that Alen knows nothing about this. Not that I expected him to. He really is a small cog in the grand scheme of things,' Raze thought.
"What have I been doing this whole time? Have I just been a fool, willingly accepting what the higher-ups taught me?" Alen started to think of all the people he had handed the item to individually without making them aware of the consequence.
It was making him feel sick, and he wanted to throw up right there and then. Half of one's life? How many people would even willingly take the items?
"I'm sorry for handing you such a thing... I had no idea," Alen continued.
"It's fine. The items were still what I needed, and you still helped me," Raze answered. "I was aware of the effects of them before I used them, so do not feel guilty about handing them to me."
"You still used the item?" Alen was stunned. Maybe it was because of 'Jake's' young age, he didn't think it was a big deal. It was hard to imagine half of one's life just vanishing like that.
"My enemy is something that requires me to go this far," Raze said, seeing the strange reactions from Alen. "It is not something you have to worry about.
"I do have some advice for you, though. Don't make them aware that you know of its effects. If you try to out them or explain what is going on, then it will put you in danger, and possibly the people around you as well. Remember, this issue is one that goes all the way to the top."
Alen had to settle his emotions. Feeling betrayed and being in somewhat of a high position himself, he often thought no matter what he did he couldn't get into trouble.
But that wasn't true. There was no way the people who had crafted and handed these items down to him were unaware of the effects. He had never used the items himself as he already knew how to break through, but it wasn't the same for those that were just pawns in the army.
"I know I have given you a lot of information and a lot to think about, but I am not giving you this information for you to act on—only for you to be better informed about the information around you," Raze declared as his body started to become more translucent and began to fade.
"I will go now."
"Jake!" Alen called out. "Maybe one day, the two of us will meet with our real bodies. I would like to shake the hand of the person who has opened my eyes."
Raze nodded as his body completely disappeared, but he was afraid that the two of them might never meet in person.
'If we did meet, there is a good chance that you would consider me an enemy rather than a friend. Your sense of justice is too high for our two values to align,' Raze thought.
Finally, Raze was back in the town of Flendon. He walked out of his secret base and was back on the ground. He could see the night sky was still out.
With a few hours left until the sun rose, he decided it was best for him to head back and try to get a little sleep. He walked across the lake and saw the large manor.
A place that was meant for him, Liam, Safa, and Simyon. When Raze entered and walked into the place, he felt a bit of sadness as he went to his room.
'It feels different without you, friend. I wish we could have spent more time talking to each other,' Raze thought as he got in bed and closed his eyes. 'I was far too focused on my journey that I didn't take time to appreciate everything you did for me... but I'm too close now, I'm too close to it all. When I get everything I need, I'll leave this place be.'
Getting to sleep was easier than Raze thought. Maybe it was because he had managed to do some things to clear his conscience, leaving fewer things on his mind. But the sleeping was short, as he could feel a slight rumble from his room.
Looking outside, the skies were still slightly gray. The sun hadn't even fully risen yet, but there was a lot of noise from outside.
Getting out of his room, he could see that Safa and Liam were already up as well. Both of them ready, having placed on their clothing, their weapons by their sides. All of them ready for what was to come.
"What's going on outside?" Raze asked.
"It's Amir," Safa answered. "Some members were transported using the teleporter you created, but most of them had to move."
The three of them, once all ready, decided to head outside. There wasn't much conversation between them, as they could tell it was a big day ahead of them, possibly the biggest day of their lives.
Once they had exited out, it all became clear what was happening. The streets were filled with people curious as to what was happening.
Some were there to wish good luck. Amir had gathered all of the major clans and clans willing from the Dark Faction. They had traveled and moved into the Demonic Faction.
A large army force of at least ten thousand members. Although this might have appeared like a small number, all of them were Pagna warriors that were skilled and talented.
Along with them were also those who had fought in Flendon many times.
They were stationed just outside the town of Flendon, who were giving them all a farewell. As Raze walked through the city, he headed toward his closest allies, the mayor of Yarlston and everyone else, looking at the large force with them.
'Seeing this brings the reality of the situation. What we're going into is a full-scale war. In the past, when I went up against my enemies, I never had anyone behind me... and I always lost. But this time, things are different.'
