the beginning of suffering
In the depths of a dense forest, a small, simple house stood hidden. Only a few tall trees surrounded it, creating a tranquil yet mysterious atmosphere. The house was home to a young boy named Lin Feng.
"I'm Lin Feng, and I'm ten years old. I come from a poor family that lives a simple life in this forest," he thought to himself, gazing around the small, humble abode.
Since childhood, Lin Feng had grown accustomed to a harsh life. His parents worked tirelessly to provide for their daily needs, and Lin Feng always tried to help them as much as possible. Despite living in poverty, they always strived to remain happy.
"I possess a unique ability - my body can regenerate rapidly. I first discovered this when I accidentally injured my hand," Lin Feng recalled, a mixture of confusion and curiosity on his face.
One day, Lin Feng decided to test his abilities. He carefully took a small knife and injured the palm of his hand. "Ah!" he cried out in pain as the knife made contact with his skin. However, just moments later, the wound on his hand healed rapidly, as if his body could mend itself in mere seconds.
Lin Feng stood there, stunned, his eyes wide with wonder. "This... this is incredible. But is it a blessing or a curse? I don't know," he muttered, perplexed.
The next day, Lin Feng ventured into the forest to gather firewood as his father had requested. He walked for a while, passing by tall trees, and felt happy that he could help his family. After some time, Lin Feng finally gathered enough firewood and decided to head back home.
"Father! Mother! I've brought the firewood you asked for!" he exclaimed excitedly as he entered the house.
However, as soon as he stepped inside, Lin Feng was shocked and froze. The scene before him made his heart shatter. On the floor, his parents' bodies lay motionless, covered in blood, their bodies severely injured.
"F-father? M-mother?" Lin Feng's voice was barely audible, as if something was choking his breath.
He quickly rushed to his parents' side. "Don't say they... don't say they're already..." he thought, his chest feeling tight.
His father, who was on the verge of death, grasped Lin Feng's hand with great difficulty. "R-run, Feng'er. Get out of here, quickly. Before they find you," his father whispered weakly but with a deep sense of urgency.
Lin Feng's mother, despite being on the brink of losing consciousness, tried to speak. "L-live... live for us, Feng'er..."
Lin Feng trembled, tears streaming down his face. "No! Father! Mother! Don't leave me! I can't live without you!" he screamed, his voice filled with despair.
However, within seconds, his parents took their last breaths. Lin Feng knelt beside them, his heart shattered into a million pieces.
"No! Don't leave me!" he cried out, but it was too late. His parents were gone.
After a few minutes, Lin Feng tried to calm himself down. His tears slowly subsided, although the pain in his heart remained deep.
"I won't forgive those who killed my parents. I'll avenge their deaths!" he thought, determination burning within him.
With hurried steps, Lin Feng fled his home, running as far as possible to escape the killers. "I have to go... I have to survive!" he thought.
However, soon after, a black-robed assassin spotted him and gave chase. "Hey, kid! Don't run! You can't escape!" the assassin shouted, sprinting after Lin Feng.
Lin Feng grew more panicked and continued to run. He didn't care even though his breath was getting shorter and his body felt tired. "I have to keep running! I have to escape!" he thought, despite his body starting to lose energy.
However, the assassin soon caught up to him and struck Lin Feng's head with a fierce blow. Lin Feng fell to the ground, losing consciousness.
Some time later, Lin Feng woke up in a dark, unfamiliar place. His hands and feet were bound by chains, his body feeling weak and painful. "Where am I? What happened?" he thought, confused.
Suddenly, a voice sounded in front of him. An old man with simple clothing stood before him. "Ah, you're finally awake," the old man said calmly, yet with an underlying sense of power.
"Who... who are you? Why am I tied up like this? What do you want from me?" Lin Feng asked, his voice trembling as he tried to understand his situation.
The old man smiled coldly. "You don't need to worry, young one. I just want to test your abilities. You'll be our test subject," he said, a hint of amusement in his
