Chapter 27 - 27 27 Who is the Winner

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Who is the Winner Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Who is the Winner Mr. Yan had never compromised on anything in his life.

Now he was furious, of course, he needed to vent on someone.

Knowing that the instigator was probably sleeping like a baby under a quilt, Mr. Yan couldn’t contain his rage.

He snatched up the phone, pulled up the call history, and dialed back.

His previous determination to leave her hanging had already completely evaporated.

All he wanted to do was to drag her out and give her a good scolding.

Perhaps it was her way of retaliating, but the phone rang for a long time without being answered.

Just as Mr. Yan was getting impatient and about to throw the phone, the call finally connected.

“Hello… this is…” A nasal, groggy voice seeped into Mr. Yan’s ears.

“Zhu! Qian! Ying!”

Mr. Yan growled each word, his voice filled with frustration, as if she was a mortal enemy.

There was a rustling noise from the receiver and then, Zhu Qianying’s voice sounded slightly more coherent, “Mr. Yan?”

“Who else could it be?”

Mr. Yan retorted grumpily. He’d rather die than admit that he had been momentarily disarmed by her sleepy, soft voice.

“Are Mr. and Mrs. Yan still at home? Would it be convenient for me to formally visit tomorrow night?”

On the other side of the phone, Zhu Qianying quickly regained lucidity, not only in her line of thought but also in her voice.

“I’m busy!”

Mr. Yan finally remembered that he was supposed to leave her hanging… to leave her hanging!

He expected her to get angry, but instead, she said, “Oh…I see… then, Mr. Yan, let me know when you’re free. Bye-bye!”

Without waiting for Mr. Yan to respond, she hung up the phone.

Hearing the “beep beep” sound of a busy line from the receiver, Mr. Yan looked incredulously at the phone. She… she had hung up on him!

Zhu! Qian! Ying!

Mr. Yan ground his teeth. At this point, he was seriously contemplating charging over to the Zhu family’s residence and giving her a good whipping.

Following that, Mr. Yan’s secretary was scolded severely over a trifle.

Meanwhile, the superb special assistant, Qin Xiu, was dispatched by Mr. Yan to get lunch. The requirement was strict – the food had to be purchased from the old restaurant in the southern part of the city.

Yanhuang Group located in the northern part of the city. It would take at least two hours round trip for the special assistant to travel to the south to buy lunch.

“Sir… the food will get cold by the time I bring it back…” Qin Xiu thought Mr. Yan was venting on him because Zhu Qianying hadn’t picked up his calls earlier, “Shall I call Miss Zhu instead?”

Qin Xiu didn’t know they had already had another round of exchange.

Moreover, it seemed like his master lost the battle.

“Call her for what? To have her deliver the food?” Mr. Yan initially said this to shut Qin Xiu up.

However, once the words left his mouth, he thought it sounded like a good idea. Not only could he dampen Zhu Qianying’s spirits, but he would also get to see her defeated expression in person.

Pretty good plan!

“Fine, you don’t have to go. Just inform her to deliver my meal. Not too much or too little, four dishes and a soup should suffice, two bowls of rice, two types of fruits after the meal, and three types of Chinese-style afternoon tea snacks.”

After Mr. Yan gave his instructions, he mentally applauded his own cleverness.

Indeed, the Chinese snacks she sent over that day were really good.

Mr. Yan gestured for Qin Xiu to carry out the task, feeling very pleased with himself.

Zhu Qianying, I’ll give you another chance today. As long as you prepare a rich and delicious lunch and excellent afternoon tea snacks, I will give you an opportunity to visit my house tomorrow night. Otherwise… watch out!

Qin Xiu was helpless. If he had known this would happen, he wouldn’t have mentioned Zhu Qianying earlier!

However, being of his social status, lamenting wouldn’t get him anywhere. It was fundamental to diligently carry out his responsibilities.

Qin Xiu intentionally went to the conference room next door to make the phone call. The call was quickly picked up, “Hello… This is…”

Just by listening, he could tell that his call woke her up.

Feeling very guilty, Qin Xiu steeled himself to apologize, “Miss Zhu, I’m sorry for disturbing your sleep. I’m Qin Xiu…”
“It’s okay, Mr. Qin. What can I do for you?” Zhu Qianying was quite courteous.

The more he spoke, the guiltier Qin Xiu felt, “Miss Zhu, here’s the thing. Our sir doesn’t have much of an appetite today and would like some homemade meals. Could we trouble you to prepare and deliver them to us?”

There was silence on the other end of the phone. How could Qin Xiu possibly list all of Mr. Yan’s demands?

“Miss Zhu?”

“Okay, we usually have our meals early. I’ll go to the kitchen and see what’s left. I’ll pack it and send it over shortly.”

Zhu Qianying surprisingly cooperated, but not only did she not have any intention of preparing a new meal, but she also planned to send over leftovers?

“Miss Zhu, here’s the thing, as you know, our sir is very particular about his food and usually doesn’t eat regular meals. Could you personally prepare four dishes, a soup, two servings of rice, two types of fruits for dessert, and three kinds of Chinese-style afternoon tea snacks for him?”

Qin Xiu blurted out everything at once, not daring to pause. He knew if he did, he wouldn’t have the courage to mention the rest of Mr. Yan’s demands.

This time, Zhu Qianying asked without hesitation, “Mr. Qin, is this Mr. Yan’s request?”

Qin Xiu didn’t know whether to agree or disagree.

“Okay, I understand. Could you please send me the address and the floor of your company? I’ll bring the meal over once it’s ready. Also, please inform the receptionist so I won’t have any trouble getting in.”

Qin Xiu repeatedly thanked her, feeling immensely grateful to Zhu Qianying. He was so grateful he wanted to show his gratitude in some grand way.

“Thank you, Miss Zhu. I’ll send you the address later. I’ll also inform the reception, you just need to tell them your surname is Zhu when you arrive. It’ll be fine!”

Qin Xiu returned to Mr. Yan’s office, unable to hide his amusement.

“Sir, Miss Zhu said she’ll prepare and deliver the meal.”

Finally, Mr. Yan’s mood improved.

He thought he had finally turned the tables this time!

With Mr. Yan expecting a warm lunch filled with love, it wasn’t appropriate for Qin Xiu to stick around like a third wheel. Seeing it was almost lunchtime, he decided to head to the dining hall.

Mr. Yan didn’t hold him back. He thought he had reclaimed a victory this time and thus was in a particularly good mood. He buried his head and continued working.

Mr. Yan was a person with a very fixed routine in life. His daily eating, drinking, defecating, and sleeping schedule was practically set in stone.

Typically, he would eat lunch promptly at noon, so his stomach would start rumbling at that time.

Since his request was somewhat demanding, he consciously allowed Zhu Qianying an extra thirty minutes.

When he realized his stomach had been growling for quite a while, he lifted his wrist to check the time. It was already 1 PM.

An hour had passed since his usual lunch time.
