Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough

Chapter 1672 1672: Deadly Situation, Quick Escape

As Chu Yang and the three First Tribulation Soul Ascension Realm cultivators were fighting 'desperately' with each other, the two Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators fighting in the distance had finally gotten close enough to start worrying the two Dao Seed Realm cultivators watching over the core of the battlefield from the side, as both of them seemed to hesitate for a second before escaping to avoid being caught in the battle between the two Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators. After all, even if they were in the Dao Seed Realm and had the ability to keep themselves safe to some extent, they still preferred to stay as far away as possible from the two Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators clashing with each other.

Even if leaving would be against their earlier orders of keeping the battle taking place at the core of the battlefield in check, none of this mattered in the face of the two approaching Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators. All they cared about upon seeing those two getting closer was getting out of the way as fast as possible, something that the rest of the cultivators who found themselves in the path of the battle did as well.

Unfortunately, not everyone was fast enough to move out of the way and Chu Yang and the three Soul Ascension Realm cultivators were in a situation like that as well. The reason being that the Dao Seed Realm cultivators watching over them from afar had only moved when the Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators got close enough to ensure those below the Dao Seed Realm wouldn't be able to escape in time.

In a sense, this would be dooming them to perish to the shockwaves produced by the two Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators, but there was not much they could do about this, as trying to run away earlier would result in them being killed off by one of the two Dao Seed Realm cultivators. Clearly intending for everyone who was still present at the core of the battlefield to die to the two Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators, something that had become clear as most of the forces belonging to the two smaller kingdoms that hired them for this battle had already managed to safely retreat.

The people still left fighting at the core of the battlefield were either mercenaries or weaker cultivators who neither side cared about after they had served their use in starting the now increasingly brutal battle between the two major powers. Instead, the two major powers wanted to use the clash between the two Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators to clear out any unrelated parties. Avoiding blame for deliberately targeting wandering cultivators working as mercenaries, something that could very well backfire on them, as wandering cultivators still made up the majority of cultivators on the continent.

Even if it was a major power, deliberately targeting wandering cultivators was not something that was advisable, as there was no lack of powerful wandering cultivators hidden throughout the continent. Especially within the Explorer Union.

For this reason, the two major powers had decided to just have the uninvolved parties perish to the powerful shockwaves caused by the two Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators before continuing their battle, something that couldn't be blamed on them directly and a relatively simple way for them to resolve the situation and avoid any outsiders potentially causing problems as the battle dragged on.

This wasn't entirely because the two major powers hated the wandering cultivators posing as mercenaries and wanted to kill them, but instead because they were worried that some of these wandering cultivators posing as mercenaries might take advantage of one of their powerful cultivators after they were weakened by a long drawn out fight to kill them and rob their belongings before running away.

With the two Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators busy fighting each other and the Dao Seed Realm cultivators also busy with their own battles, unable to keep an eye on the mercenaries, it was a very real possibility that had already happened several times throughout the Eastern Central Region where wars were abundant and two major powers clashing with each other wasn't rare.

In a sense, because they were familiar with this kind of thing and had experienced it in the past, the different major powers in the Eastern Central Region had come up with this kind of way to deal with the mercenaries and wandering cultivators before the battle truly reached the most desperate and bloody point.

After all, not utilizing wandering cultivators as mercenaries wasn't an option, as one of the two major powers involved could gain a clear advantage if one avoided these wandering cultivators, something neither side would run the risk of happening, thus resulting in the current state of things were it was subtly agreed on to clean up the mercenaries before the true battle erupted.

Of course, this kind of knowledge was not known to someone like Chu Yang or the Soul Ascension Realm mercenaries that he was fighting with. If not, they would have all been far more cautious when it came to doing this kind of thing.

Even now that they were faced with the two approaching Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators, they only thought they were unlucky and wanted to escape from the battlefield as fast as possible. Unaware that their current situation had been deliberately orchestrated by the two major powers who didn't want any of them to potentially cause problems as the battle escalated.

"Looks like its time for us to take our leave if we want to get out of here alive. May we meet again in the future in a less dangerous situation."

"Sure, good luck to you three."

As the Dao Seed Realm cultivators who had been keeping an eye on the four of them ran away, Chu Yang and the three First Tribulation Realm Soul Ascension Realm cultivators who had been fighting with him for the past few minutes all exchanged a brief goodbye before all of them split off into different directions. Seeking to escape from the battlefield before the two Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators got any closer.

Rumble~!

Then again, they were not the only mercenaries present on the battlefield, as hundreds of other cultivators ranging between the Domain Lord Realm and the Soul Ascension Realm similarly stopped their battles and scattered in all direction. All of them having similarly put on a show of a desperate battle to not draw any unwanted attention from the two Dao Seed Realm cultivators keeping an eye on the battlefield.

Of course, though everyone had already planned to run away and were using everything in their power to do so, there was little chance for those in the Domain Lord Realm when it came to escaping alive. Only those in the Soul Ascension Realm stood a real chance, though this was only when it came to escaping the two clashing Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators.

At the end of the day, they would undoubtedly end up in an injured state in the process of escaping. At which point they ended up as easy targets in the eyes of the opposition major power. After all, they had only escaped the core of the battlefield and still had to find a way through the rest of the battlefield that had formed around them, a difficult task to say the least. Especially so for the few 'lucky' Domain Lord Realm cultivators who managed to just barely cling to life after getting out of the way.

For Chu Yang, this kind of situation was both thrilling and deadly, as he just barely managed to avoid a residual wave of spiritual qi that would have killed him on spot before safely making his way outside the core section of the battlefield. Only sustaining a few superficial injuries.

Having survived the worst of it, Chu Yang soon enough found himself targeted by the Soul Ascension Realm cultivators from one of the two major powers that had shown up, while the rest of the mercenaries not part of these two major powers found themselves in similar circumstances, though compared to him, they were in much worse situations.

But… Although this kind of situation was extremely dangerous and his life could be lost in case one of the Dao Seed Realm cultivators on the opposing side decided to deal with him personally, Chu Yang found himself becoming increasingly excited even as his situation worsened by the second.

Not because he enjoyed being beaten up, but instead because he could clearly feel his Dao of the Spear improving rapidly under the tremendous pressure of being caught in a life and death situation… And outside of his Dao of the Spear, his comprehension of the Dao of Blood also began to improve rapidly. Even starting to merge with his Dao of the Spear, something that in turn increased the strength of his Dao of the Spear and overall pushed his comprehension of the Dao of the Spear closer to the Small Success Realm, while his Dao of Blood already broke past the pseudo domain level and reached the domain level, closing in on the Elementary Realm.
