Chapter 176: 176: Having Her Is Enough
Chapter 176: Chapter 176: Having Her Is Enough
Mengmeng pushed her into the bathroom with a look of disgust on her face, “Stop being melodramatic and go change. Look around, your blood is everywhere in my house, people might think I attacked you or something.”
“Kid, if anything, it would be me attacking you, how could your scrawny arms and legs overpower me, huh?”
Now that Tong Mo knew the bleeding was a normal physiological change and not some terminal disease, she felt a weight lift off her shoulders and had the mood to banter with Mengmeng.
Luo Mengmeng: “…”
If only I had spoken earlier, let you howl a bit longer.
After cleaning herself up, Tong Mo washed the sofa cushion from Mengmeng’s home, and only then did she leave.
Mengmeng then lay on the bed in a “big” character shape, digesting the day’s events.
They say menstruation is a sign of a girl growing up, so… am I grown up now?
Does that mean I can marry my husband now?
As she contemplated this, Luo Mengmeng fell asleep again.
In a state of half sleep, Luo Mengmeng felt a pair of long, warm hands caressing her slightly swollen belly.
Her long eyelashes fluttered a few times, and then slowly, she opened her eyes, meeting Gu Zhihan’s deep black pupils, “Husband, how did you get here?”
Gu Zhihan cleared his throat and quickly withdrew his hand, “I heard you calling for me while you were sleeping, so I came to check on you.”
His expression was a bit unnatural as he spoke.
The truth was… he had come uninvited because he was worried about her.
Who would’ve thought that right after she woke up, she soon went back to bed and just stayed there, not even coming to find him to do homework together. He thought maybe her stomach was hurting again.
“You said I called for you in my sleep?” The typically slow Luo Mengmeng sensed something was off and looked at him with sleepy, puzzled eyes, “How could I call for you when I’m asleep? And why don’t I remember it at all?”
Gu Zhihan maintained a poker face, “Don’t you know there’s such a thing as sleep talking in this world?”
“If it was sleep talking, then how could you possibly remember it?” he said seriously.
“Oh…” Luo Mengmeng half believed him.
Gu Zhihan decided to change the subject, “I’ve already made dinner. I heard your parents won’t be home tonight, so come to my house and eat.”
“Yay!” Mengmeng couldn’t have been happier, getting up from the bed and following him home.
After dinner, Mengmeng sneaked into Gu Zhihan’s room and brazenly took over his bed.
When Gu Zhihan returned to the room and saw her, he couldn’t help but pause and asked from the doorway, “Aren’t you going home?”
“My stomach hurts, I can’t walk.”
One second ago, Luo Mengmeng who was sitting there eating chips, the next second lay on the floor with her eyes rolled back.
Gu Zhihan stepped forward, “Then I’ll carry you back.”
Seeing him so oblivious, Luo Mengmeng’s face flushed with irritation and she simply covered her head with the quilt and pretended to be dead, “I’m already asleep. I can’t hear anything you say now, can’t hear, can’t hear, hoo, hoo…”
In the end, she even started to fake snoring convincingly.
Gu Zhihan silently watched her act.
Just when she had almost finished her performance, he approached with the intention of exposing her, but to his surprise…
She had actually fallen asleep!
Her breathing was even, which was something Gu Zhihan could easily recognize.
She couldn’t fake that.
“You…” Gu Zhihan sighed in resignation, stopping the action of forcibly dragging her away and instead picked up the quilt he had pulled away earlier and covered her with it.
He also adjusted her position to a comfortable sleeping posture.
In the end, he turned off the light and lay down beside her, still dressed.
The curtains were not drawn, and through the window, Gu Zhihan gazed at the sparse stars in the sky above the bustling city district, and for some reason, thoughts of his childhood surfaced.
They used to live in a large courtyard in the suburbs where every night, just by looking up casually, one could see countless dazzling stars, and even shooting stars streaking across the sky from time to time.
She loved to sit on the grass and count the stars, while he would watch her with a faint smile.
There were also the sounds of frogs by the pond, the grasshoppers in the grass, the unknown wildflowers, the big, un-demolished courtyard, and the Jujube Tree they had planted together… Many things are now gone, swallowed by time and misfortune.
But she was still here.
And that was enough.
Wishing her a night of pleasant dreams.
What do you think?
