Chapter 80 - 80 92 A Bottle of Safflower Oil (1)
Chapter 80: Chapter 92: A Bottle of Safflower Oil (1) Chapter 80: Chapter 92: A Bottle of Safflower Oil (1) Isabel hastily continued her struggle within Percy’s embrace, trying to break free from him.
Percy’s expression darkened, he lowered his head and glared at her, saying, “Believe it or not, if you dare to move again, I’ll carry you back to the banquet hall right now, and kiss you forcibly in front of everyone!”
“You-” Isabel lifted her eyelids in anger, staring back defiantly at Percy.
The beautiful neon lights by the roadside cast a mesmerizing glow on his handsome face, allowing Isabel to see clearly the tension on his face, his lips tightly pursed, his eyes filled with a cold, intimidating gaze, staring straight at her, the fury swirling within, as if he would actually carry her back to the banquet hall and force a kiss upon her at any moment.
Isabel was instantly intimidated by Percy’s presence, a flicker of fear flashed in her heart. She only managed to utter a single defiant word before she was left speechless.
Percy glanced at Isabel, then looked up to see a taxi approaching. With one arm holding her, he waved the other to flag down the taxi.
Once the taxi came to a halt in front of them, Percy stepped onto the road, carelessly opened the car door, but gently placed Isabel into the taxi. To prevent her head from hitting the roof, he even raised a hand to shield it as he lowered her in.
Only after Isabel was seated did Percy bend down and get in the car as well.
From a young age, Isabel had always been self-confident and indomitable, but when confronted with Percy, her bravado felt like a kid throwing a tantrum at a parent who barely takes notice. All it took was one glance and a gesture to easily subdue her.
To be honest, aside from their collaboration, Isabel was also somewhat afraid of Percy.
For some unknown reason, this man, who seemingly had no powerful family background, still carried an air of superiority.
He didn’t need many words or gestures; just a casual glance or expression could cause a chill to rise from one’s heart.
Isabel had never faced someone like this before, defeated without even a fight. Initially, she was filled with courage against Percy’s threat, but quickly became timid and weak. She felt a little frustrated but could not say whether it was at Percy or herself. As soon as they were in the taxi, she turned her head to look out the window, without uttering a sound.
Percy told the taxi driver the address in a calm voice, then turned his head and looked at the back of Isabel’s head, his eyes softened.
By now, it had grown late. Though Bellshire City’s streets were still busting with cars, they were not congested. It took little more than twenty minutes to travel from Capital’s Grand Hotel to the hotel where Isabel and Percy were staying.
When the taxi came to a stop, Percy got out and handed the driver money from his wallet.
Still frustrated over the earlier situation, Isabel didn’t say a word and followed him out of the taxi, not even glancing at Percy as she walked towards the apartment building in her high heels.
Before Isabel even stepped into the apartment building, Percy swiftly caught up to her. Without saying a word, he reached out and wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her into his embrace, before continuing to carry her into the building.
Thankfully, it was late, and the elevator was empty. Only then did Isabel calm herself, allowing Percy to carry her up the building.
Percy brought Isabel back to her apartment.
What do you think?
