Chapter 177 177 : Trial 2
In the outermost corner of the Twilight Mountain Range, where towering trees stretched toward the sky, the forest floor was covered with enormous yellowish leaves, scattered branches, and patches of resilient grass.
Small bushes dotted the landscape, while a few industrious insects crawled about their business.
The atmosphere was eerily still; the only sounds that broke the silence were the occasional chirps of birds and distant roars from unseen beasts.
Rustle! Rustle! Rustle!
Amidst this tranquil yet tense environment, a small white rabbit with fluffy fur and bright red eyes hopped curiously among the underbrush.
With a tuft of grass clamped in its tiny mouth, it chewed rapidly before standing on its hind legs to survey its surroundings.
After a brief pause, it lowered its head once more to dig for food.
But lurking just twenty meters away, hidden behind a bush, two piercing red eyes watched intently.
These eyes radiated an unsettling mix of brutality and cold intent as they fixated on the unsuspecting rabbit.
The little creature continued its search for food, blissfully unaware of the danger nearby. Its large ears twitched occasionally as it nibbled away at the grass.
Suddenly, a gust of wind swept through the trees, a harbinger of impending doom, as a massive black shadow darted between them and lunged toward its prey.
Despite being vigilant and alert to its surroundings, it was too late for the rabbit to react.
A soft whimper escaped as a gaping maw filled with razor-sharp teeth sank into its neck.
Blood sprayed forth like crimson paint against snow-white fur,a hauntingly beautiful contrast that marked an end to innocence.
The predator revealed itself: a fearsome beast resembling a leopard but cloaked in pitch-black fur adorned with ominous red spots, this was no ordinary animal; it was a Tier 1 Magical Beast known as the Red Spot Leopard.
As joy flickered in its red eyes, it savored every bite of its meal, crunching bones and tearing flesh with brutal efficiency while blood splattered across the ground.
Yet amidst this gruesome feast stood another figure, a boy about ten to twelve years old was hiding behind a tall tree trunk just meters away from this macabre scene.
His short black hair framed an ordinary face that belied his extraordinary focus; excitement danced in his eyes as he observed every movement of the Red Spot Leopard.
This boy is called Leon, his eyes were cold and calm as he looked deeply at the Red Spot Leopard.
In the heart of the jungle, a Red Spot Leopard was blissfully indulging in its meal, completely unaware of the imminent danger lurking nearby.
Its focus was solely on devouring a white rabbit, savoring each bite as if it were a gourmet feast.
With its size, this small creature could have been consumed in just one or two bites, yet the leopard relished every morsel.
This leisurely approach to hunting was one of its peculiar habits, taking pleasure in the taste and texture of its prey rather than rushing through the kill.
However, this indulgence also revealed a vulnerability; such moments of distraction made them easy targets for predators.
Leon watched from the shadows, cold determination flashing in his eyes.
He took a deep breath, channeling all his energy into his legs before launching himself forward with incredible speed.
Bang!
The ground shook beneath him as he propelled himself into action, leaving behind a small crater where he once stood, a black blur racing toward his target.
Startled by the sudden movement and feeling the rush of wind behind it, the Red Spot Leopard abruptly raised its massive head.
In an instant, sharp pain pierced through its neck as Leon struck with precision. The leopard's eyes widened in shock and agony.
"ROARR!"
The roar echoed through the jungle as Leon clung tightly to its back.
The leopard thrashed wildly, desperate to dislodge him but to no avail.
Gritting his teeth against the chaos, Leon drove his dagger deeper into the creature's flesh.
Blood gushed from the wound like a crimson fountain as he pulled out another dagger and plunged it into the opposite side.
"ROARR!"
Another agonizing roar filled the air as panic set in for the leopard.
It continued to buck and twist violently, but Leon remained steadfast, like glue stuck to its back, relentlessly pushing both daggers deeper until they sank completely into its neck.
Minutes passed like an eternity as blood poured out onto the ground below, staining it red.
Finally, with labored breaths and twitching limbs, the mighty Red Spot Leopard collapsed onto the earth, panting heavily as life drained from it.
Leon refused to let go; he maintained his grip even as he felt strength fading from beneath him.
After what felt like forever, with one last twitch and sigh, the great beast lay still.
As silence enveloped them both, Leon finally released his hold and stepped back slightly to catch his breath. He gazed down at what had once been a formidable predator now reduced to lifelessness.
"That's three down..." he muttered under his breath with satisfaction glimmering in his eyes.
-----------------------------
It's been exactly two days since Instructor Max led the children into the wilds of the Twilight Mountain Range.
In that short span, they've faced dangers that most could only dream of, or dread!
From life-threatening encounters to fierce battles with Magical Beasts, these kids have truly stepped outside their comfort zones.
Some found themselves in perilous situations and needed rescue from their instructors, marking them as having failed this grueling trial.
Others, however, summoned their courage and fought valiantly against all odds.
Can you imagine what it must feel like to confront such terrifying creatures for the first time?
The challenges they faced over these two days were unlike anything they had ever experienced before.
Yet, through this ordeal, they've grown a little stronger and braver, ready to tackle the dangers of the world head-on!
----------------------------
Leon is one of the few children who were able to survive quite well during these two days.
With unwavering determination and impressive strength, he was able to kill several ordinary beasts and even killed two Tier 1 Magical Beasts plus the Red Spot Leopard he killed today making it three.
While he did sustain some injuries along the way, thankfully they weren't severe; Leon was resourceful enough to heal himself.
What do you think?
