Beast Taming: Starting From Zero

Chapter 715: Giant Rock Nika

Chapter 715: Giant Rock Nika

Good job, Little Treasure. You're still reliable in critical moments... Qiao Sang praised in her heart as she looked at the scene before her, there wasn't a single trace of a wild pet beast in sight.

Just then, Little Treasure raised his paw again.

You little brat, I take back my praise! Qiao Sang roared internally.

"Lu."

As the brick-breaking move, glowing with white light, was about to strike, Lubao let out a call, signaling to wait.

"Xun xun?"

Little Treasure stopped and looked at Lubao, his expression puzzled.

Qiao Sang let out a breath of relief, as if she had narrowly escaped disaster.

"Lu..."

Lubao glanced around the environment, her expression grave.

"Xun xun..."

Little Treasure also looked around, sensing that something was off.

Qiao Sang had been too focused on Little Treasure's Brick-Breaking move to notice earlier, but seeing the reactions of Lubao and Little Treasure now, she immediately became alert.

Though she was still frozen and unable to move, her senses remained intact.

It didn’t take long for Qiao Sang to realize the environment was too quiet, unnaturally so.

Not the peaceful quiet of nighttime, but the eerie stillness before a storm.

Although she didn't have much experience exploring the wild, she knew this kind of atmosphere wasn’t normal.

Something's watching us... Just as this thought crossed her mind, a streak of white icy energy shot down from the treetop canopy, hurtling straight toward Little Treasure.

"Xun xun~"

Little Treasure reacted instantly, vanishing on the spot and teleporting to where the freezing ray had come from.

He raised a paw, and a shadowy black energy ball quickly condensed and smashed downward.

With a shriek of "Bubu!", a bird-like pet beast with a predominantly white body fell from the tree and collapsed to the ground with its eyes shut.

Frostfeather Swallow, an intermediate ice-type pet beast… Qiao Sang recognized the fallen beast and felt her heart sink.

Something’s wrong. Very wrong. Even though pet beasts had varying intelligence, they could generally sense if an opponent was stronger.

Little Treasure aside, his small size didn’t emit the overwhelming aura typical of general-level pet beast, but Lubao hadn't activated her lightweight miniaturization bracelet, and both her aura and size clearly showed she was an high-level pet beast.

Frostfeather Swallow shouldn’t have attacked first...

And that strange, eerie silence still lingered...

Just then, the plants around them suddenly swayed as if stirred by wind, and strange sounds came from underground, something seemed to be writhing beneath the surface.

"Lu."

Sensing something abnormal below, Lubao swiftly coiled her tail, lifting her still-frozen beast master onto her back.

The next second, the ground shook violently.

Bang!

Suddenly, a massive creature nearly six meters tall burst from underground. Its four limbs slammed onto the ground, causing the earth beneath to sink slightly.

"Ju-ju!"

A pair of pale yellow eyes gazed down at Little Treasure and Lubao from above. Its head, covered in brown rock, suddenly opened its mouth and let out an excited roar.

General-level Ground-type Pet Beast: Giant Rock Nika... Basic info about the creature flashed through Qiao Sang’s mind.

---

At the same time.

"Sense Sense!"

Feeling Ghost raised its claw, surrounded by eerie purple mist, and slashed down viciously.

The snake-like pet beast in front of it couldn’t dodge in time and let out a cry of pain.

"Poison!"

The snake beast shook its head and shot Feeling Ghost a glare that said, You just wait, before slithering away quickly.

Seeing this, Feeling Ghost wanted to give chase.

“Don’t.” Charles said grimly.

"Sense."

Feeling Ghost obediently stopped.

From inside the tent, Caro heard the noise and came out, cautiously looking around.

“What’s going on?”

“Pack up. We’re leaving now.” Charles said while grabbing his backpack.

Caro didn’t ask why and immediately started packing.

Then something occurred to her and she asked, “What about Qiao Sang?”

“She went to find her Ice Xilu.” Charles said, hoisting his backpack.

“We’ll go meet up with her now. I gave her a signal device, so we can track her location.”

Caro couldn’t hold back her curiosity anymore.

“What’s really going on?”

Charles’s expression turned even grimmer.

“Do you know there’s a Sand Land Dragon in the Baizhi Mountains?”

Caro nodded.

“The offspring of the Twin Land Dragon. I heard the Twin Land stay in the core zone, while their child often roams around, even to the outer layers sometimes.”

As she spoke, realization dawned on her. Her expression became serious, and she sped up her packing.

“I just heard the Sand Land Dragon’s roar.” Charles said solemnly.

“If I’m right, it’s nearby. We have to find Qiao Sang fast and get out of here. If that thing finds us, we’re in big trouble.”

Caro understood what he meant.

The Twin Land Dragon was the ruler of the Baizhi Mountains, and their child, the Sand Land Dragon, was the young master of the region.

It could command nearly every wild pet beast in the mountains.

The Sand Land Dragon had never left the area, so it was particularly curious about unknown pet beasts or humans entering its territory.

There was a story two years ago about a senior in the potion department who formed a team to gather herbs here. The Sand Land Dragon found them, and they were tormented for a whole week until a professor from Yulianton University came to negotiate with the Twin Land Dragon to get them back.

Reportedly, the senior had a mental breakdown and needed extensive therapy from a high-level healer, paid with borrowed credits. He was still working for that healer to pay off the debt.

That incident became widely known at Yulianton University, so everyone understood: In the Baizhi Mountains, the Sand Land Dragon was the most dangerous creature.

The Twin Land Dragon stayed in the core zone and wouldn’t bother you if you left them alone.

But the Sand Land Dragon was different, even if you didn’t provoke it, it would find a reason to bother you.

We must find Qiao Sang soon. Her Ghost Ring King can teleport. Being with her is the safest option. With that thought, Caro packed even faster.

---

Damn it, first a king-level pet beast Sand Land Dragon, and now a general-level Giant Rock Nika?! The mid-zones really are way more dangerous than the outer layer…

Little Treasure! Use spatial shift now! Qiao Sang screamed internally.

Little Treasure's eyes glowed blue.

In the distance, the massive body of Giant Rock Nika suddenly began to levitate uncontrollably.

I told you to teleport, not use telekinesis… Still, Little Treasure was also a general-level pet beast. He should be able to take Giant Rock Nika in a fight… Qiao Sang thought to herself.

The ground shook again.

Massive cracks rapidly spread.

Suddenly, the ground erupted.

Boom!

With a thunderous explosion, another enormous pet beast burst out from underground.

Qiao Sang’s heart skipped a beat.
