Chapter 112: Chapter 112 Nuonuo is Flat!

The current awkwardness was…

Lu Xining lay on her side on the ground, her daughter held in front of her.

On the other side, Ji Muye’s eyes trembled slightly under the eye mask, his lashes hidden beneath as dark and dense as crow feathers.

Little Dumpling, nestled in her mother’s arms, had yet to hear any other sounds and couldn’t help but open her eyes.

Lu Nuonuo glanced to the left and saw Ji Muye.

She looked to the right and saw her mother.

Lu Nuonuo: “???”

She turned her head to look left, then right again, and then reached out to pull off the eye mask Ji Muye was wearing.

The sudden light made Ji Muye squint.

Ji Chao crouched on the adjacent couch and covered himself with a blanket, while Ji Ze peered out from the side of the couch with wide eyes.

Having adjusted to the brightness, Ji Muye locked eyes with her from close range, being able to clearly see the fine soft fuzz on her skin.

This distance…

Before Ji Muye could say anything, a soft little hand shoved his cheek away as Little Dumpling struggled to sit up between them.

She said in a huff, “Nuonuo got squashed!”

Lu Xining also grabbed his hand to push him away and sat up to pull down her clothing around her waist, giving him a glare.

She lifted her daughter onto the couch, and Ji Chao came over with concern, “Mom, are you okay?”

Ji Ze ran to Ji Muye’s side and crouched down to help him up, “Dad, did you get hurt from the fall?”

Rising with his son’s support, Ji Muye flexed his left leg and rested his arm on it, the green eye mask still on his face, covering one eye.

Beside him was the couch.

He was assisted by Ji Ze to sit down; Ji Muye touched his son’s head, “Dad’s fine.”

Seeing her eye mask still on the man’s face, Lu Xining couldn’t help but remind him to take it off.

Although not a very private item, it still felt strange.

The silk eye mask was soft and smooth. Ji Muye recalled that this eye mask and Lu Xining’s dark green nightgown were part of the same set.

He extended his hand to her, “Here you go.”

Lu Xining pursed her lips, “Just throw it away, I don’t want it anymore.”

Ji Muye nodded, “Then I’ll keep it. I haven’t been sleeping well recently, and I could really use an eye mask like this.”

After saying that, he put the eye mask into his pants pocket.

Lu Xining: “…”

He walked over to the cabinet near the entryway of the living room, where the gifts brought by the bodyguards were placed.

“I got you and the kids some local specialties and gifts on my trip abroad.”

For Ji Chao, he bought the next volumes of the foreign novels he enjoyed. The original author had just finished writing them, and they were freshly printed.

At a dinner party, hearing that Ji Muye’s son liked his work, the author had given him a copy of the manuscript and also wrote a personal blessing for Ji Chao.

Ji Chao’s eyes sparkled, “Thank you, Dad!”

Toys were what the younger son loved best. Ji Muye brought back for him the latest model of Transformers, along with other trendy toys in limited editions.

Ji Ze couldn’t put them down, “Wow! I love it, thanks, Dad!”

For Lu Nuonuo, he brought a custom pink fox toy studded with tiny pink diamonds, sparkling brilliantly under the room’s lights.

Lu Nuonuo’s eyes widened with delight as she hugged him.

Little Dumpling blurted out: “Thank you, Dad!”

Even Ji Muye was stunned by Little Dumpling’s loud and clear call of “Dad,” and as he watched her be swiftly carried away by Lu Xining for a talking-to, a persistent thought formed in his mind.

Lu Xining took Little Dumpling to the other side and whispered to her, “Nuonuo, you can’t call him dad anymore.”

Little Dumpling blinked her eyes, struggling as she looked at the pink diamond fox in her arms that she so adored.

Holding up the statue, she ventured, “Then the little fox…”

Knowing her daughter loved it, Lu Xining didn’t insist on her not accepting it.

She kissed her daughter’s soft, translucent cheek and said, “If you like the little fox then keep it, mommy can buy it from the uncle.”

Lu Nuonuo’s eyes lit up, and she nodded happily.

Soon she joined her other two brothers, who were unpacking gifts, and ran off to play in the toy room.

“How much for the fox statuette? I’ll transfer it to you.”

“No need.”

“It’s too valuable. If you don’t tell me, I’ll just have to estimate.”

Lu Xining bent down to transfer money to Ji Muye, but her phone was snatched away by the man, his voice tinged with displeasure.

“Do you mean to say that you need to transfer money for any gift I buy for Nuonuo? If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were trying to cash out through me.”

She looked up and met his gaze, “Give me back my phone.”

Ji Muye simply raised his hand, and with his height of one meter ninety plus the length of his arms, Lu Xining could hardly reach the phone even if she jumped.

Yet she was not one to give up easily.

Kicking off her shoes, she directly stepped onto the couch and leaped up in an attempt to snatch the phone from his hand, but Ji Muye leaned back to avoid her.

The bright overhead light cast a subtle shadow over his deep-set brow bones, as if accentuating the contours of his eyes with a punch of eyeshadow.

“Ji Muye!”

Lu Xining had one hand gripping Ji Muye’s shoulder to keep him from leaning back, stood on her tiptoes, and reached with her other hand for the arm holding the phone.

The leather couch cushion was slightly slippery, and her ankle suddenly twisted, causing her to fall toward the coffee table.

With quick reflexes, Ji Muye caught her into his arms, his strong biceps encircling her soft, slender waist.

She felt a sharp pain in her chin as it collided with his shoulder.

Rather than trying to snatch her phone back, she used both hands to push against Ji Muye’s shoulders.
