Strange
Kae woke up to the warm rays of the sun peeking through his window, casting a golden glow over his small, cozy bedroom. He stretched his arms, yawned, and swung his legs over the side of the bed, feeling the soft, plush carpet beneath his feet.
As he got dressed, the aroma of freshly baked pancakes and brewing coffee wafted from the kitchen, enticing his senses. His stomach growled in anticipation.
"Good morning, Kae!" Aurora chimed, as she expertly flipped pancakes on the griddle. "Today's a special day! Your father and I have a surprise for you after breakfast."
Kae's curiosity was piqued. He loved surprises.
Thane, a tall, imposing figure with a kind smile, ruffled Kae's hair. "Hey, kiddo! Ready for another day at school?"
Kae nodded enthusiastically, already thinking about his day ahead. He took a seat at the table, and Aurora placed a steaming plate of pancakes in front of him.
As they ate, Kae's parents asked him about his plans for the day. He told them about the new virtual reality lab that was opening up at school and his excitement to try it out with Lyra and Zax.
Aurora smiled. "That sounds amazing, Kae. We're proud of your curiosity and love for learning."
Thane nodded in agreement. "And don't forget, Kae, we have a surprise for you after school. Be sure to come straight home."
Kae's mind was racing with possibilities. What could the surprise be?

At school, Kae was a bit of an introvert, but he had a close-knit group of friends who shared his passion for science and technology. Lyra and Zax were always getting into mischief, and Kae often found himself caught up in their antics.
As they walked through the school corridors, Lyra turned to Kae and whispered, "Hey, have you heard about the new virtual reality lab that's opening up? I heard it's going to be epic!"
Kae's eyes lit up. "No way! That sounds amazing. We have to check it out!"
Zax, always the jokester, chimed in, "Yeah, and maybe we can even hack into the system and create our own VR world!"
Kae playfully rolled his eyes. "You're going to get us into trouble one of these days, Zax."
The three friends shared a laugh as they headed to their next class.
Later that day, Kae and his friends decided to sneak into the VR lab during lunch. The lab was still under construction, but they had heard that the equipment was already set up and ready to use.
As they entered the lab, Kae's eyes widened in awe. The room was filled with sleek, futuristic machines and strange, glowing devices. In the center of the room, a large, circular platform dominated the space.
Lyra, ever the curious one, wandered over to the platform and examined it closely. "This must be the VR simulator," she said, her voice filled with excitement.
Zax, meanwhile, had already begun fiddling with one of the machines. "I think I can hack into this thing," he said, his eyes shining with mischief.
Kae hesitated, unsure if they should be messing with the equipment. But Lyra and Zax were already too caught up in their exploration to listen.
As they continued to explore the lab, Kae stumbled upon a strange, cryptic message scrawled on one of the machines:
"They're coming. Be ready."
Kae felt a shiver run down his spine. Who wrote this message, and what did it mean?
Suddenly, the lab's lights flickered, and the machines hummed to life. The VR simulator in the center of the room began to glow with an otherworldly energy.
Lyra, Zax, and Kae exchanged nervous glances. What was happening?
The simulator's glow grew brighter, and the air around them began to distort. Kae felt himself being pulled toward the platform, as if an unseen force was drawing him in.
And then, everything went black.
What do you think?
