Chapter 138: Suicidal
The sound of the explosion caused everyone in the area to pause feeling the full brunt of the shockwave on their backs and front.
Most of them didn't know what was going on, the only thing they could conclude was that Thane and his men were already engaged with the hallowed beast.
If only they knew, that all this while, someone had essentially been fighting this thing alone.
"Did you get a kill announcement?" Guilliman approached the hulking figure of Barthold from the wrecked body of the Trihorn Drake.
Barthold had been stocking up of potential energy ever since they passed the bridge. Guilliman knew this thing would be powerful and even with the help of his summons, the echoes he had harvested and Even Thane….this would be a hard win.
"No, no announcement" Barthold seemed a bit disoriented, but he also looked grim.
That beast, with how big that explosion was? He should have been able to one shot it. But somehow it was still alive.
Guilliman frowned turning to the mangled corpse of blood and bronze bones on the ground next to him.
Barthold hadn't noticed, but this thing wasn't moving, could he be mistaken? How wasn't it dead?
"Watch out!!"
As Guilliman looked at the corpse with a confused look on his face, he heard a feminine voice resound in his ear all of a sudden as the temperature around him shifted,
-cling
His body soon became weightless as he was pushed away alongside Barthold while a young lady with silver hair clashed with an unseen enemy.
Quickly recovering from being sent flying, Guilliman looked up at where he previously stood and frowned.
There was a humanoid creature with a makeshift bronze sword dominating Victoria infront of him in a clash of wills.
'What the…' Guilliman was taken aback for a brief moment but his frown soon disappeared replaced by a cold and focused glare.
He summoned a sword echo and blasted towards the two aiming to decapitate the creature with one swing:
Victoria felt his moment from behind and ignited her flames, boosting her attack power by several folds pushing the beast into Guillimans line of attack.
Clang
But even though he struck directly at the neck of the humanoid beast, it only bounced off as cracks appeared on his sword.
"Hell!!" Guilliman pulled himself back using the beasts body for momentum.
He had attacked the beast just now with a mythic weapon and it broke just like that on a single strike? That was absurd.
His gaze locked onto the beast once more, to see it looking down at him with a skwed smile on its face.
It was still incredibly tall, around 7.5'ft so it easily towered over Guilliman and Victoria, it was still reptilian but stood like a man albeit it seemingly growing an incomplete wing.
"Rangggggg!!!" After looking at Guilliman and Victoria for a second, the Trihorn beast turned back to its hive that was currently fighting the slayers and fog and released a dreadful sound.
The sound caused all the reptilian beasts to grow frenzied, red light emitting from deep within their eyes as began attacking more furiously.
"Oh good, if killing it wasn't hard enough!!" Guiliman gripped his cracked sword with a slight tremble.
If he couldn't confirm it before, he could now.
The Trihorned Drake had evolved into an abomination ranked beast.
-woosh
As Guilliman stood before it, Thanes Figure appeared next to him in his human form holding onto his sword firmly.
"Kill, kill, kill"
He could hear exactly what was leaving the mouth of this human soul of his, but he could infer that he was itching for a fight.
"No choice" Guilliman smirked bitterly looking at Victoria who was on the side frowning at the presence of Thane.
She was still In the dark about the whole thing so she was surprised to see Thane here. Dead was something she could understand, but he's alive? She wouldn't especially if she found out what guilliman did.
"You know… I really planned for this, every scenario was something accounted for. But it's become obvious that killimg you is much harder than i could even imagine." Guilliman looked to Victoria first then panned his gaze to the slayer army below him.
What he was about to do was extremely fucked up.
"I'm sorry, there's nothing more I can do for you….please try to survive" Guilliman said his voice resounding throughout the Fog.
In the next second,
The fog rushed through the in army and barreled towards Guilliman in quick succession.
It was abrupt and didn't give anytime to prepare.
In a matter of seconds, the slayer armies only guardian angel left them in the open to help Guilliman.
"60 seconds, that's all we have!!" Guilliman shouted at the top of his lungs.
60 seconds was enough to kill hundreds of men in such a battlefield, but he had no choice, without killimg the hallowed beast they would all be done for.
And besides, what he was about to do was risking his life also.
"Heavy Soul brilliance"
[ding innate skill activated
In the next 60 seconds, the host will become effectively unkillable]
Guilliman body ignited, but not just his, Thanes too recieved a sudden boost in power that second and as the fog rushed towards the hallowed beast, so did Guiliman and Thane.
One of them would surely die in this confrontation, the question was…would it be Guilliman, or the hallowed beast.
First, Guilliman summoned a much more sturdy spear and threw it inside the fog, then mid sprint he summoned a Warax and swung it down.
-cling!!
The Ax connected, but didn't even break the skin of the now evolved abomination. He didn't stop there though because as the abomination focused on killing the fog creatures and appeared every second, Guilliman took the opportunity to strike at the beasts.
Each strike took all the strength he had in his body to land, breaking each echo on contact, and because he had to completely focus on killing the beast Guilliman couldn't control the fog.
So to it, the only thing that mattered was killimg the hallowed beast.
Even at the cost of harming Guiliman.
Slashes, cuts, and gashes appeared all over his body and his continued attacking the Beast infront, they were painful, but he couldn't stop.
He kept on attacking
Over and over again
His healing ability was powerful so he wouldn't die so easily, but time was running out. If he got stuck in this hailstorm of attacks after his 60 seconds expired, he would become a dead man.
"I really hope this works" Guilliman gritted his teeth and kept on attacking.
A short distance away
"The fog is becoming less visible" Victoria commented trying to stay conscious.
Her healing abilities still worked fine, but it had barely been a week since woke up from having her soul nearly eradicated.
She was struggling.
"Yes, it is" Barthold commented right next to her.
Before entering the fog, Guilliman sent a mental message to not come close unless they wanted to die.
Seeing what the hallowed beast was doing to the monsters in the fog he couldn't help but understand.
If they got close they would surely die
What do you think?
