Chapter 1160: Show-off
The gazes of the King of Genesis and the King of Eternity narrowed to their extremes.
At one instant, Ozeroth and Noctis had been conversing at the peak of a large tree, and in the next, they dealt lethal blows to two of the Zorvans' strongest?
Their eyes shot to the sides, about to counterattack, only to widen a heartbeat later.
They were gone.
Their abyssal black gazes frantically darted around, searching, only for their instincts to scream at them like a blaring horn.
It felt like the cold breath of death had just washed over their bodies.
Their gazes fell.
A blinding flash of violet and white filled their eyes.
A massive hammer of deep purple blinked into existence beneath the King of Eternity, ascending toward his chin with such force that the air violently whipped around it in droves.
The instant it landed, a deafening boom exploded across the domain, followed by a monstrous force traveling through the King's skull, tearing him into the sky like a missile.
But the King of Creation had no time to comprehend the attack.
Noctis' claws shrieked across the domain, cutting through the air as they tore toward the king's torso.
A brilliant flash ignited as the king conjured shield after shield, layering them with desperation, only for the power of negation and erasure swirling around Noctis' claws to rip through it all, reaching his flesh.
It was like there was no resistance.
His claw tore through everything, sundering the king down into four, sending a geyser of bluish blood across the sky.
'How!?'
Despite being in pieces, the King of Creation's gaze trembled as it locked onto the beast that looked like it had crawled straight out of hell.
He had sensed the powers: negation and erasure. He had countered accordingly, layering barriers formed from flesh and raw mana.
The negation should only affect mana. The fusion should only affect the physical. He had built his defense around this offset, hoping to stall for time, to think, or even escape.
But this beast…
This beast had switched between both forces with such rapid, mind-numbing precision, it was like he had cleaved through with just one motion.
It shouldn't be possible for a beast to have such mastery.
Still…
The King's gaze narrowed. As the King of Creation, this wasn't enough to kill him.
But just as he prepared to act, the sound of ripping air reached him.
His eyes sharpened, only to freeze.
All around him, claws had appeared in thousands, screaming in from every conceivable direction.
'I can't react in time…'
His trembling eyes locked onto Noctis, who stared back with an arrogant gaze. The kind that screamed: you are nothing.
'What is that beast?'
That was his final thought as the claws struck.
In an instant, the already fractured body of the King of Creation was reduced to nothing. Shredded. Eviscerated. Until not even his bones remained.
"Ah! You little beast. You just had to go and show off, huh?"
Ozeroth's rumbling voice echoed out.
Noctis turned toward him, confused, only to find Ozeroth glaring at him with an accusatory look.
He blinked and pointed the clawed paw at himself. "Kuu?"
"Yes, you!" Ozeroth snapped. "Why'd you have to go and kill him in one shot, huh!?"
Ozeroth genuinely sounded upset. Noctis had just one shot a Zorvan king, while he had only managed to send his two flying.
"Kuu?"
Noctis still looked baffled, and staring into the beast's wide, innocent eyes only made Ozeroth feel worse.
"Tch. There's no helping it." He sighed, then turned his gaze toward the distant human domain.
"You can handle the rest, right? I'm going after them."
Below, the paragons shifted their eyes toward where the Zorvan colonels were regrouping. They had been thrown far by the shockwaves from Ozeroth and Noctis' earlier assault on the kings.
Their expressions darkened, but they nodded.
"Let's go!" Ozeroth barked, and with that, both he and the still confused Noctis vanished from the skies, streaking toward the remaining Zorvan elites.
As they departed, the paragons turned their gazes to the colonels, then to each other.
'This will be difficult…' Jenera thought, her expression grim.
The Zorvan colonels numbered seven in total. Each one was easily the equivalent of a superior race leader.
Everything might have gone differently, if all of their own leaders were still alive.
Now, only the Evolari, Nullite, Requim, Transmutari, and Obliteri were left. Five against seven.
Still, Jenera's gaze narrowed and her voice rang out.
"Listen up. We five will each take one. You two take one. You three, handle the last. The rest protect the domain."
She didn't need to name names. Everyone instantly understood.
The five remaining leaders of the superior races would take on one each.
The Demon and Angel paragons, mid-race leaders, would pair for another.
The last would go to a trio: Human, Dwarf, and Aeonian.
Thunder cracked as Magnus stepped forward.
Humanity had no defined leader. But with that step, he made himself clear.
He would carry that mantle for this battle.
The other paragon leaders responded in kind. Their auras surged like storms unleashed, and the air around the domain thickened with pressure.
In the next second, their eyes locked on their targets.
The Zorvan colonels had regrouped. Fully recovered. Their gazes swept across the paragons with cold gazes, like the fight wasn't worth their time.
No words were exchanged. The tension stretched thin. Then…
Thunder ripped through the skies.
Magnus burst forward, a streak of lightning tearing through the air as he charged one of the colonels head-on.
Not even a second passed, the rest followed.
The sky erupted as a cacophony of explosions and shockwaves roared out across the domain. The paragons and Zorvan powerhouses collided in a battle that shook the earth.
…
A flash of purple zipped through the air at breakneck speed, streaking toward a crowd of white-haired individuals gathered in the streets.
"Are you all okay?" Lyanna asked, just as Aurora, Ember, Caldor, and Nate jumped down from Zoey's glowing platform.
"Yes, Aunty," Aurora replied. "We ran back as fast as we could."
Lyanna was flanked by Sirius and Nathan, both wearing expressions that could only be described as grim. In fact, not a single Ravenstein present looked anything less than tense.
"Kids!" Their eyes turned as Anastasia rushed forward, pulling them into a hug. "Are you okay?"
She pulled back, inspecting Aurora and Ember like a medic assessing a wound.
"Yes, Mom," Aurora said with a soft smile.
"Yes," Ember echoed, her expression not changing.
"Um… I'm fine too." Caldor scratched the back of his head and said.
Anastasia smiled and pulled him into a hug as well.
As the reunion unfolded, Zoey's voice suddenly cut in.
"What's happening? Where's Atticus?"
What do you think?
