Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground

Chapter 1079 Three

Chapter 1079 Three

The entire human domain fell silent.

Three colossal warships hovered above the Aegis Shield, casting a collective shadow that eclipsed the sun, swallowing the world in darkness.

Then came the movement.

Citizens, officers, even members of the Tiered, every single human being stepped out.

of their homes and flooded the streets, turning their eyes toward the sky.

Three insignias.

Three overlords.

Each one capable of bringing nothing but devastation in their wake.

"T-They're h-here..."

The words sounded fragile and shaky, and they came from a single person. It had been a whisper, really.

But in the heavy silence that had gripped the entire domain, it traveled, echoing everywhere. And as the people heard it...

Hands clenched.

Eyes trembled.

Legs shook.

Faces twisted into nothing but dread.

They had known this day would come. But still, many had clung to the fragile hope that maybe, just maybe, it wouldn't.

But they came.

And while everyone, even the paragons of humanity included, watched with expressions ranging from solemn to utter horror, the apex of humanity, the one they were all counting on to save them...

...was busy dealing with another situation.

An annoying one.

A thick, booming voice suddenly rumbled in his head. It was furious, thunderous, and somehow deeply offended.

Ozeorth's.

"How dare they! This is an outrage! A slap to the face!"

Atticus let out a long, exhausted sigh.

"...Why do you care so much?"

"What are you talking about, bond!?" Ozeorth snarled. "This is an insult! To me! To us! To everything we stand for!"

Atticus simply shook his head, staring into the distance like a man trying to hold on to the last threads of peace.

But Ozeorth wasn't done.

"Can't you see it!? They dare to declare us enemies and treat us with such disregard!" he fumed.

"One ship each! No fanfare, no fleets, no regard, nothing! I swear, when I get my hands on them, I'll crush them beneath my feet like I did that lizard!"

Atticus didn't respond. He simply looked up at the sky.

He was currently seated atop the Ravenstein estate, alone, well, except for the very loud presence within his mind.

Sixteen days had passed, which was more than half a month since the war had begun. According to Oberon's calculations, they had barely a month left before the Aegis Shield failed.

And when that happened, chaos would reign.

His gaze stayed on the massive warships blotting out the sun, the cause of Ozeorth's fury.

It was not because they'd shown up.

But because each of the three races, the Dimensari, the Vampyros, and the Dragons, had only brought one warship each. No backup. No fleets. No reinforcements.

To Ozeorth, it was a message.

A blatant insult.

One he apparently had no intention of taking.

But Atticus tuned him out. He had more pressing matters to attend to.

As his eyes locked on the massive warships suspended above, his thoughts churned. "They only came with one each..."

Unlike Ozeorth, he didn't take it as an insult. He didn't see the point. Pride had no place here. Not when they were all going to try and kill each other anyway.

There were bigger questions to ask. Implications to consider.

Their plan.

'Even if the Dimensari still possess the six cores, the chances of Eletantron absorbing them all are very slim...'

He had already confirmed during the Nexus that the Dimensari had gained possession of six elemental cores. But Atticus had absorbed multiple himself. He knew what it took, the process and toll.

He doubted anyone native to Eldoralth could handle it.

'Unless the one in the shadows helps him. Or... the Vampyros Queen...'

That last possibility was harder to assess.

Atticus still didn't understand the full extent of her power. Ozeorth had fought her earlier and, according to him, she had run when things took a turn, but she hadn't revealed her full hand during their fight...

Much to Ozeorth's frustration and Atticus's dismay.

Because it meant he hadn't been able to copy her techniques.

But then...

'Lirae.'

He remembered her vividly. The apex who had somehow acquired the core of the

Angel race. Was it possible the apexes were just like him?

He wanted to believe that.

But if they were, shouldn't they be stronger than they were now?

'It's likely the Queen has the same power...'

He wasn't certain. But among all the uncertain variables, that assumption felt the most

logical.

And logic meant one thing:

Prepare for the worst. Even if it was near-impossible or if the odds were laughably low.

He had to consider it, the possibility of Eletantron or Jezenet absorbing all six cores.

If that happened...

Their next battle wouldn't be anything like the last.

"What do you think?"

The voice came calmly, but with a weight that only few could carry.

Atticus didn't need to turn.

Oberon.

The Enigmalnk stood beside him, arms folded, his calculating gaze fixed on the

looming warships.

Atticus replied calmly.

"They brought their powerhouses. Honestly... that's all they need."

Oberon blinked, surprised. "You can see through the shield?"

Atticus shook his head slightly. He already understood where Oberon was coming

from.

The Aegis Shield severed connection. It was like cutting the link between two separate spaces. A complete divide in the flow of mana between the inside and the outside. Because of this, no one could teleport through it, phase past it, or channel mana from one side to the other. Not even perception abilities that relied on mana could pass

through.

However, the shield didn't block everything.

Light and sound could still filter through. It was the only reason they could see the

warships.

"No. But it's the most obvious thing," Atticus answered.

A slow nod came from the Enigmalnk. It made sense.

"Nothing changes," Atticus continued. "From here on out, more focus on the Aegis

Nodes. Any spies still embedded will likely move for them."

Oberon was just beginning to nod when-

SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEE-

A deafening screech tore through the air as the hulls of all three warships cracked

open at once, the sound rattling the bones of everyone below.

It was enough to make even the Tiered heads of the great families gulp.

They were making their move.
