Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground

Chapter 1068 Gains*

Chapter 1068  Gains*

As he reached the top, he entered through the door of his room, closing it quietly behind him.

His gaze swept across the simple space, and then he smiled.

'Even though I've hardly used it, I still miss this room.'

Funny enough, the training room felt more like home to him than this one ever had. Especially after Anastasia stopped disturbing him to rest. He practically lived there now.

Still, as he looked at the clean, tidy space, he couldn't help but feel a hint of nostalgia. This was where he'd grown up. Where he'd awakened his bloodline. Where he'd awakened as a baby.

'Feels like so long ago.'

With a soft chuckle, Atticus sat on his bed, silently looking around.

Then, his eyes shifted to the door, landing on a faint shadow that flickered just past the frame.

And his smile widened.

"Hey."

The shadow froze, flickering slightly as if startled.

"I can see you, Arya," Atticus said casually.

To anyone else below the master ranks, it would've been invisible. But to Atticus and his insane perception, it might as well have walked in wearing a sign.

The shadow expanded, revealing a woman of average height with short green hair. She bowed the moment she fully appeared.

"Young master."

Atticus chuckled. "You're probably the only one who still calls me that, Arya."

He stood and walked over, pulling her into a hug.

"I apologize—" Arya started, stiffening, but Atticus just hugged her tighter.

"Guess I wasn't missed," he teased.

Arya flinched, rapidly shaking her head. "No, no!" She relaxed and slowly returned the hug.

'He's warm,' she thought. Atticus's body always radiated a kind of heat. Not the uncomfortable kind, but the type that soothed you from the inside out.

"Welcome back," she whispered, warmly.

"It's good to be back," Atticus replied, pulling back to look at her.

Arya instantly looked down, face flushed.

"You're still as shy as ever," Atticus said, smirking as he walked back to his bed. "So… what's up? I know you didn't just come to say hi."

Arya's expression turned solemn.

Atticus already knew something was wrong. He'd felt her emotions the moment she approached. Uncertainty. Tension.

Arya hesitated, then clenched her fists. "I-It's Master Avalon."

Atticus's eyes sharpened.

'So something really is going on.' He'd sensed it in the way Anastasia spoke. Now he was about to find out.

"Did something happen to him?"

Arya shook her head, troubled. "No… but Lady Anastasia is worried. Ever since he heard about the incident at the military camp… he hasn't left the training room."

"Since last night?"

She nodded.

Atticus sighed.

'Looks like he's blaming himself.'

As a father, even if it wasn't expected, it made sense that Avalon would feel helpless for not being able to protect his only son.

"Don't tell my lady I said anything," Arya added quickly. "She didn't want you to worry."

Atticus nodded. "Thank you for telling me, Arya. Don't worry, I'll handle it."

After a few more reassurances, Arya bowed once more and quietly left his room, leaving Atticus to his thoughts.

'I have to talk with him,' as Atticus thought, a voice suddenly sounded.

"Talk and say what?"

Ozeroth's voice sounded dry.

Atticus frowned. 'What do you mean?'

"The man's feeling inadequate because he can't do more for his monstrous, average-looking son."

Atticus's mouth twitched. Monstrous and average-looking? Really?

"Do you think a little pep talk is going to fix that?"

"Then what do you suggest I do?" Atticus asked.

Silence.

Atticus raised a brow. 'Why are you quiet?'

There was a faint mumble that Atticus couldn't quite hear.

"What was that?"

"Say I'm more handsome and greater than you, and I'll tell you."

Atticus stared blankly at the wall. "You've got to be kidding me."

"Keep waste time…" Ozeroth sang.

Atticus tried to probe his thoughts, only to meet a mental wall. Again and again.

He groaned. "Fine. You're more handsome and greater than me. Happy?"

"Hmph. Why would I be happy? You just stated facts. I'm glad to see you've finally admitted reality."

"I swear I don't even care anymore." Atticus rubbed his temples. "Just tell me."

"Yeah, yeah. Can't rush greatness."

Ozeroth paused before finally saying, "The only thing you can do for him… is give him power."

Atticus waited.

Silence.

'Well?' he pushed.

"Well what?"

"Wait… that's it!?"

"Yeah. What else do you want, bond?"

"I don't know… maybe something useful? Like how I'm supposed to give him power. Do you expect me to just start spilling out abilities from my butt?"

"Whoa, whoa, why are you yelling at me?" Ozeroth said, feigning offense. "I bring the wisdom. You extract the greatness. He's your father, not mine."

Atticus sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "What the hell…"

At this point, he decided to ignore the spirit and shift his focus.

There were more important things to deal with right now.

His status.

After so much time, Atticus was excited to see the changes in his status.

'Status.'
