Chapter 852: Chapter 849: Depth 1, Return to Silence
The observational signal from Lucrecia disappeared, and correspondingly, all the data and materials about Light Breeze Harbor were imported in the instant before the reset.
Zhou Ming calmly perceived the changes occurring in this Shelter—sensing the gradual collapse and dissolution of the frontier, sensing the Endless Sea breaking apart bit by bit, sensing city-states vanishing into nothingness among the stars. He heard many voices, as well as countless confused, fearful, desperate, and hopeful thoughts. Tens of thousands of minds spoke to him at the same moment, then fell silent at the same moment, and then this process repeated over and over…
Yet his own mind seemed to have transcended this process—the Reverse Singularity was slowly awakening. He had almost all his attention focused on maintaining the stability and controllability of this process until, after an unknown amount of time, he finally had the spare energy to pay attention to the situation around him.
His eyes were closed, but he “saw” Alice. The doll lady was still sitting not far away, watching intently over here, seemingly unconcerned about everything happening outside Homeloss.
He also “saw” Homeloss. He saw the ship floating on a sea of clouds, like a blazing, pure illusion. Most of the ship had vanished in that fierce burning, with only the core structures remaining under his feet at the helm, and part of the stern deck—beyond these structures was a “light fog” trailing magnificent tails, like stellar ejecta.
The humming of the goat’s head continued intermittently, that astonishing spine of the ancient gods floated deep in the light fog, still undergoing its final burning.
Zhou Ming heard footsteps.
The “Door of the Displaced” standing on the stern deck suddenly opened, and Lei Nora walked out from it. The Frost Queen stood quietly gazing at the sea of clouds in the distance, watching the world gradually disappear in the starlight. After a while, she turned and walked towards the direction of the helm—she climbed the stairs suffused with starlight and came to Zhou Ming, who was steering the ship.
What do you think?
