Chapter 1891: Gluttony, Primal Huntress
Chief Moussa's jaw dropped at the sight of the limbless King of the Beast. The beast that slaughtered the best hunters from his village. The monster that had been haunting him in his dream, was now powerless before him, not to him exactly, but to the first player that arrived in his village.
The gears in his head spun, trying to proceed to the scene before his eyes. The beast was nowhere weak, it was stronger even compared to him, and yet the player subdued it without making a single move.
The Hunter Village Chief stayed next to the player all the time, and he never saw the player move. It meant something else attacked Elder Zwaki. His eyes fell on the golden imp that floated next to the player with a wide smile, revealing the sharp and pointed teeth. He could not feel anything from the imp, and he could not tell how strong this small imp was.
Chief Moussa recalled that the player was called two names, Keeper and Glodden. The player ordered the Keeper to shoot Elder Zwaki. The second order was for Glodden, to cut and drag Elder Zwaki.
The one who caught Elder Zwaki was this Keeper, and he could not see or sense anyone near him. To be able to shoot down Elder Zwaki and immobilize the King of the Beast, he could not imagine how strong this Keeper was. Then the question popped in his head.
'How powerful is the person who ordered the Keeper?'
For someone as strong as Keeper to take an order from the player, it meant the player was stronger than Keeper. Then he could not help but recall their first meeting, and he broke into cold sweat. The threat was not an empty threat. He could imagine the Keeper shooting down the villagers and even him. If the King of the Beast could not avoid the Keeper, then no one in his village could.
"I don't have that much time, white cat!" Tang Shaoyang motioned toward Glodden, and the golden imp pointed his fork to Elder Zwaki's head, "Be my pet or die?"
Zwaki was never humiliated in his life, he had been the king of his territory. His pride could not take it when a human came to his territory and put him down like this. Why was the human not killing him right away?
'Become his pet? Does he want to humiliate me even more? What's my fault to deserve such…' His train of thought stopped for a moment as he realized the upside of the offer.
If he became this human's pet, he might be able to leave this boring place. The beasts feared him, the human from the village called him the King of the Beast, but this place was more like a prison for him. He once tried to leave this place, but he found out that he could not leave this place. There was an invisible barrier that prevented him from leaving. No matter how hard he tried to destroy the barrier, his effort was futile. He accepted that he must live in this place.
"Will you bring me out of this place if I become your pet?" He asked the human.
"Yes, of course. I will bring you with me," Tang Shaoyang was confused a little bit with the question, but he answered regardless.
"I want to become your pet!" As soon as Zwaki said that, a screen appeared before him. The notification that he had formed a bond with the human. He could feel it, the connection between him and the human. Even though the connection was weak, he could feel it, and that made him uncomfortable.
Tang Shaoyang also sensed the connection with the white tiger, a weak connection that made him recall when he formed a companion bond with Greed, Pride, Wrath, Ophelia, and Ophelius. Not just him, but Greed, Pride, and Wrath could also sense the new connection. He could feel their emotions stir, happy and excited. It was as if they were welcoming a new brother to the family.
Ophelia and Ophelius seemed to be confused, but the two immediately ignored the feeling as he felt no further reaction from the two Demonic Dragon Calamity. He accepted the white tiger as a pet, but he did not have trust in the wild beast.
Tang Shaoyang asked Glodden to prick his thumb with the golden fork. The golden imp was confused but still did it.
"Open your mouth!"
Zwaki opened his mouth, and Tang Shaoyang put a drop of blood into the white tiger's mouth. He liked fresh meat covered in blood, but he did not like drinking blood. He did not understand why his Master asked him to drink a drop of the blood but followed the order anyway.
As soon as he tasted the drop of his master's blood, he felt something he never felt before. A stronger connection with Master and a sense of loyalty toward his Master. The former was foreign to the white tiger, but the latter was familiar. He had the same feeling, but it was not toward a living being, but an altar.
Aside from the barrier, the reason he did not mind leaving was because of the strong connection he had with the place. It made him want to protect the place, even with his life. Now if he asked himself why he was willing to offer his life for that place, he could not think of a reason or an answer. He did not know why he wanted to protect that place.
The sense of loyalty toward his master is similar to that feeling. If his master was in danger, he would risk his life to protect his master.
It was overwhelming for the white tiger who never left this place before. He was angry that this human humiliated him, but then he was happy to know he could leave this place. Then he was confused about his connection with the altar near his lair.
The moment he formed a connection with his Master, his connection to the altar was completely cut which was why he was confused. Confused why he had a strong connection to the place, even willing to throw his life away to protect the place that meant nothing to him.
The drop of blood was to form an actual master and pet connection. It was more like a one-sided connection compared to the connection. The white tiger had to listen to his order no matter what, even when he ordered suicide, the white tiger had to comply. It was necessary to do so because he did not trust the white tiger. A necessary step if he wanted to leave the white tiger behind for his daughter.
That was right, he planned to give his daughter a present, and that present was this magical cat that could also protect Tang Xiulan. He remembered that kids love pets, so he gave her daughter one.
He took out a healing potion and also a regeneration potion, "Open your mouth!"
The white tiger opened his mouth, and he poured the potion immediately. In less than twenty seconds, the white tiger regrew his limbs and healed all the injuries on his body. He was satisfied to see the result of his Alchemy Facility. This made the effort to secure resources from the first floor worth it. He might have little use for the potion, but the potion was like a second life for his people.
The white tiger regained his feet and stood once more, showing his majestic stance toward the only he could, Chief Moussa. He revealed his sharp and long teeth, intimidating the hunter.
Tang Shaoyang flicked the white tiger's head, "You can't kill any human unless I order you to or you do it to protect the people you are supposed to protect, understand?"
The white tiger looked at his master, clearly not like the order. But the connection compelled him to listen to the order. He planned to intimidate the hunter for the humiliation, but he could not do it now.
"And from now on, your name is Gluttony!" Tang Shaoyang committed the beat. He had Pride, Greed, and Wrath. The white tiger would be Gluttony because he remembered this cat was asking the villagers for food.
He thought of giving the white tiger sloth, but because of Glodden, he chose Gluttony instead. That would make it four, and three more, he would complete his collection. If not for Avyn's affection for Ophelius and Ophelia, he would name them Envy and Lust/Sloth.
"But I already have na—" Gluttony was about to protest, but he was cut off by his new master.
"You are Gluttony from now on!" There was no room for negotiation.
With a defeated sigh, the former King of the Beast accepted his new name. He named himself Zwaki and added an Elder as a title to make it cooler. But he had to follow the order now.
"Are we leaving now, Master?" Gluttony asked with a tinge of excitement, forgetting the sorrow of losing his cooler name.
Tang Shaoyang turned toward Chief Moussa, "Can you return on your own, or do you need me to escort you back?"
Chief Moussa was lost in his own thoughts, processing what happened before him. He snapped out when he heard the player's question. Everything was surreal to him, the terrifying beast was tamed before his face with no effort.
"Sorry!? Ah, yes, I can return on my own," Chief Moussa nodded and turned around, heading back to his village absentmindedly, leaving Tang Shaoyang and his new pet.
"Before we leave, do you want to check one place, Master? I think that place is quite important…" Gluttony explained about his previous duty, about the altar which might be the reason he could not leave this place before.
Tang Shaoyang was interested when he heard about an altar. He remembered that the last time he found an altar, he got Ruby Dragon Bloodline for his skeleton. This altar might be a bloodline inheritance ritual as well.
"Lead the way!"
The altar was at the peak of the mountain. They ran through and arrived at the peak in less than a minute. There was a flat surface at the peak, and sure enough, there was an altar, and there was a statue in the center of the altar. It was a woman statue pulling a bow, ready to shoot.
"Stay here!"
Tang Shaoyang ordered Gluttony and Glodden to stay as he stepped onto the altar.
