Chapter 258: Authorities Join! Wang Yun Explores Local Islands!
When Qian Guosen mentioned Zhao Youcheng’s name, Wu Mingyu stood up in shock.
“Are you talking about Zhao Youcheng, the former top leader of the China General Command? How do you know him?” Wu Mingyu asked excitedly.
It wasn’t just him, all the captains from our country present were equally excited. Zhao Youcheng’s name was well-known and highly respected. He was extraordinarily gifted, becoming a leader at the General Command in his early youth. With his sharp insight, exceptional logical thinking, and spatial reasoning abilities, he had already taken the top position at the General Command by the age of thirty-five. At fifty, due to overuse of his brain and subsequent health issues, he had to step down. But no one expected that Qian Guosen knew Zhao Youcheng.
Qian Guosen was only thirty-seven years old, highly skilled in computers and advanced technology. His meticulousness was unparalleled, not something young tech enthusiasts could match. He was also the captain of the Red Hacker Alliance’s trio. Although he only managed two teammates, their combined capabilities outshone thousands.
Seeing everyone’s reaction, Qian Guosen scratched his head a bit sheepishly.
“Zhao Youcheng is my cousin. He knew I was joining the show, so I invited him to join for fun. Initially, he wasn’t interested. But as the situation got more serious, he got bored at home after retiring and contacted me a couple of days ago to say he wanted to give it a try,” Qian Guosen explained with a smile. “He just wanted to relax a bit, and the producer has already agreed.”
When the people in the observation room heard this, they exchanged glances, their eyes filled with admiration.
This was simply fantastic news.
“That’s great! With Brother Zhao joining us, capturing Wang Yun will be a piece of cake!”
Even the usually reserved Wu Mingyu couldn’t help but express his excitement.“Absolutely! This is like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, completely overqualified,” Wu Yaoming chimed in, clearly pleased along with everyone else.
The program captains from other countries, although unfamiliar with Zhao Youcheng’s reputation, could tell from their reactions that he was a formidable figure. They quickly put the incident of Wang Yun blowing up the dock behind them.

After coming ashore, Wang Yun went to a small shop to buy a map of the island. The island was vast, covering an area of 1,921 square kilometers. It consisted of three interconnected islands. The environment was beautiful, filled with the sounds of birds and the fragrance of flowers, and the air was rich with oxygen. Just stepping onto the island made people feel incredibly comfortable.
More importantly, the island’s large area meant that many of its mountain landscapes had not been developed. It was full of dangers, and there were often news reports about wild animals appearing. As a result, it rarely received tourists, and even if there were any, they were concentrated in the central island.
The two islands near the coast were inhabited by locals who made their living by fishing and selling tropical fruits. Wang Yun and his team had arrived at the westernmost island, known as Nosa Island, which was part of Yun City.
“We have three days to familiarize ourselves with the local conditions here. Brother Hu, you go find us a place to stay, and it can be a bit better,” Wang Yun instructed. “Wang Zi, you and Xiao Gang buy a motorcycle and take a tour around the island to check out the surroundings.”
Wang Yun stood by the roadside, observing the somewhat desolate path. The road here was mostly dirt, and the houses around had a unique style, all elevated about five meters off the ground on iron stilts. Each house was spaced far apart, mainly to prevent dampness and keep out dangerous animals.
“Got it, boss.”
“Be careful, boss.”
With that, the three split up to carry out their tasks. Wang Yun walked straight up a nearby mountain. The mountain was filled with coconut and banana trees, and the paths were smooth, indicating frequent visits by locals for harvesting.
“This mountain is no good, too many people come and go,” Wang Yun muttered, marking his map as he walked.
He needed to thoroughly scout the area so he could find quick escape routes in case of danger.
Just arriving at Nosa Island, his first step was to blend in with the locals. If they didn’t, and the program inspectors eventually arrived, they wouldn’t be able to interact with the locals without the risk of being recognized.
“Hey there, uncle, working on the coconut trees?” Wang Yun approached two men harvesting coconuts to strike up a conversation.
They were a father and son duo. The father looked to be around fifty, and the son in his early thirties, shirtless and wielding a long stick with a sickle attached to knock down the coconuts. The older man glanced at Wang Yun, not surprised by his appearance.
“Yes, you must be a tourist. Would you like some coconuts? The ones we harvest here are top-quality, and much cheaper than those on South Lake Island,” the old man said warmly.
Seeing this, Wang Yun quickly feigned interest.
“Yes, Uncle, I came here specifically to buy coconuts. You’ve harvested quite a few; I’ll take them all.”
There were only about twenty coconuts in the basket, and they wouldn’t spoil easily, so he decided to buy them all.
The old man was delighted by Wang Yun’s response and immediately gave him a fair price. Wang Yun took the opportunity to strike up a conversation.
“This area feels a bit desolate, but the environment is fantastic, much better than South Lake Island. It’s really a great place to live.”
South Lake Island was the central island, the one suitable for tourists. The old man wiped the sweat from his brow and carefully put the money in his bag.
“The environment is great, but you shouldn’t live here. It’s very dangerous. For miles around, only this rainforest and the green mountain on your left are safe. Places like enclosed mountains to the south and the smoky forest near the sea are off-limits.”
The old man chatted enthusiastically with Wang Yun. Hearing that enclosed and the smoky forest were off-limits made Wang Yun’s eyes light up. Those were exactly the places he wanted to explore.
“Why is that, Uncle? I’m new here for tourism, so I could use some guidance,” Wang Yun said humbly, offering a cigarette to the old man.
The son climbed down from the tree, and the two of them, seeing Wang Yun’s politeness, started helping him bundle the coconuts while explaining. It turned out that these two mountains not only had frequent sightings of wild beasts and pythons but also poisonous creatures.
What do you think?
