Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

"Lei Qian! Think about your grandfather." Grandma Lei turned and looked at Lei Qian with a hint of frustration on her face. "He needs medical aid as soon as possible; you cannot just leave him alone."

"Are you sure you are worried about him, Grandma?" Lei Qian questioned his grandmother. He arched a brow and remarked, "You are not worried about grandfather, the one thing that you are worried about is that you will lose the benefits that she has promised you. Isn't that right?"

Grandma Lei opened her mouth, but Bai Meiyue had lost her patience. She said to Lei Qian, "Let's go. We will deal with the rest of the issues once we have returned home," though she had not checked up on Grandpa Lei, Bai Meiyue knew that the man was not bitten by a zombie but had been injured by a sharp object. As long as his bleeding was stopped in time, everything would be fine.

"Who are you? And why are you interrupting our conversation?" Grandma Lei was used to acting domineering in front of the first branch of the Lei family. Thus, when she saw Bai Meiyue speaking to Lei Qian in that commanding tone, she couldn't help but glare at the woman angrily.

Bai Meiyue glanced at the elderly woman with a hint of anger between her brows. She narrowed her eyes at Grandma Lei and said to her, "He is my team member. If you want to hand him over to another person, then you need to first talk with me."

Her tone and attitude were so strong that even Grandma Lei, who was used to throwing her weight around, was dumbstruck.

Seeing that the old woman was no longer talking, Bai Meiyue snorted. She caught hold of Lei Qian's wrist and pulled him along with her. She said to him, "Go and drive your car. Or do you want to waste your time here?"

She then turned to look at Yu Miaomiao, who was studying her closeness with Lei Qian. When Bai Meiyue saw the woman looking at her and Lei Qian, she couldn't help but curse inwardly in her head.

She cursed Lei Qian, and she also cursed herself. Why did she have to rush ahead and save the head of this foolish man? Didn't she promise herself that all she wanted was to live a silent and quiet life?

So why did she have to rush in and save this man?

Bai Meiyue turned and looked at Lei Qian, who was smiling like a fool while looking at her hand that was holding his, and sighed. Don't tell her that she really fell for this idiot? Well, that would certainly make things complicated, she thought worriedly.

This was certainly not in her plans, and Bai Meiyue had no idea what to make of this situation. Now that she had caught Yu Miaomiao's attention, that woman was not going to let go of her!

"Wait!"

Bai Meiyue paused and turned to look at Yu Miaomiao. She arched a brow and questioned, "Is there something more that you want to say, Commander Yu?"

"The supplies." Yu Miaomiao pointed to the supplies that Lei Qian had brought with him. "You are forgetting the rules, Miss Bai."

"The one who is forgetting the rules is you, Commander Yu," Bai Meiyue smiled and retorted. "The supplies to be handed by ability users are one-fourth of their entire supplies. But you are asking Master Lei for more than half of his supplies. Can you please tell me why the a sudden change in the rules? Or did the promise that you made with the rest of the ability users change so easily?"

Bai Meiyue knew that this would only make the woman hate her even more, but she didn't care. Since she was already going against her, Bai Meiyue might as well break the pot completely.

When Yu Miaomiao's smile dropped, Bai Meiyue knew that her move had worked. After all, she had more or less stirred the calm hearts of the ability users. If Yu Miaomiao could change the rules for Lei Qian so easily, then she could change them for others as well.

If Yu Miaomiao didn't back down now, Bai Meiyue was certain that she would make many ability users wary of her.

Sure enough, many of the ability users turned to look at Yu Miaomiao. Earlier, when Yu Miaomiao was pushing Lei Qian into a corner, they didn't think that there was anything wrong with it. But after listening to Bai Meiyue's words, they couldn't help but think that the woman was indeed correct.

If Yu Miaomiao could change the rules for Lei Qian, what about them? Would she hold back if they were to offend her?

When Yu Miaomiao saw the ability users turning their heads and peeking at her, she gritted her teeth in anger. She had to admit that Bai Meiyue had cornered her with those words; even if she wanted to push Lei Qian into handing over the entire supplies to her, she knew that it was almost impossible.

"It's still the same," Yu Miaomiao replied through clenched teeth. The sound was so loud that Bai Meiyue could hear it without even using her senses as an ability user.

She smiled and stated, "Then we will certainly follow the rules." She turned to look at Wan Guofu and said to him, "Go and hand in one-fourth of the supplies to the soldiers."

Once she was done speaking, she saw Lei Qian looking at her with a hint of objection. She glared at him and said, "Do you want to be stuck here for the entire day? If you want, then you can go ahead and continue with your rebellion." Anyway, she didn't have the energy to deal with Yu Miaomiao at the moment.

"Of course not." Though Lei Qian was indeed unwilling when he heard that he had to hand over more than one-fourth of his supplies to this strange woman, he was not one to go against Bai Meiyue. So even if he was not willing, he had no choice but to agree with her.
