Chapter 229: Chapter 228 Sweet Dog Food Spread Joyfully (23) Chapter 229: Chapter 228 Sweet Dog Food Spread Joyfully (23) As the sky gradually darkened, Su Shu looked outside and thought to herself, today Tang Zelin probably won’t be able to come.
His absence might be due to some urgent matter, so she let go of the thought and turned around to bolt the front door.
It’s actually good that he didn’t come today, she had some important business to take care of herself.
Xiao’ai had been left at Elder Ge’s house today, learning to recognize characters with Grandma Fu. The two seniors led a monotonous life on the mountain, and having a bright and sensible child like Xiao’ai around made their days quite joyful.
She would go fetch Xiao’ai back when it got late.
She also drew the curtains at the window and lit a candle inside to show that someone was home.
After putting things in order, Su Shu turned and entered her space.
Although recently she had been taking things out of the space bit by bit to improve Xiao’ai’s nutrition, she hadn’t had the chance to properly organize the space.
In her space, there wasn’t just the supplies she had stored, but also a proud and temperamental Little Snake King!
Right, she had been inside for a while now, where was that snake?
The space was only so big, where could it have gone?
After circling around the front and back of the house twice and seeing no sign of it, she couldn’t be bothered to look any further. She fetched some cold water from the well and filled a big pot in the kitchen to heat.
A bath first.
Clean and fresh, Su Shu began to tidy up the main room of the house.
She had been kept continuously busy, together with Xiao’ai, at the resettlement site and the safe zone, without having the chance to properly arrange her living quarters.
The room had two sections, north and south, with a central hall in between. As mentioned before, Su Shu’s space had surely belonged to a hermit, simple in his poverty and disregarding riches and honor.
As such, the valuable items reflected an unspoiled naturalness that embraced nature.
However, behind the eight immortals table in the central hall, there hung an impressive landscape painting that, upon viewing, brought peace to the heart and stirred deep emotions.
Su Shu felt that if there was something in the space that might be worth something, it was this painting that might sell for fifty cents!
She first cleaned the house with fresh water, inside and out, and soon it was fresh and clean.
However, the bare kang bed surface had nothing on it.
She searched the storeroom and found two sets of bedding, one to lay on the bottom and another to spread a thin, pale pink blanket on top, which just covered four-fifths of the kang surface.
Looking at the remaining fifth of the space, she thought for a moment, walked around the other rooms, and finally brought over a modular low chest, which just filled the length perfectly to occupy the remaining space.
Good, she could store clothes in there in the future.
With that idea in mind, she dove back into the storeroom and rummaged out a pile of things to put in the chest for easy access later on.
The bedroom was to the east, and to the west, she planned to use the room as a study where Xiao’ai could read, study, and practice writing in the future.
After a half day of busyness, when she finished tidying up, Su Shu stood in the central hall, looking left and right, her heart filled with firm conviction.
As long as they had the space, they would surely get through these tough times.
After several trials and comparisons, she now had a rough judgment of the time inside the space compared to the outside world.
She checked her watch, hmm, by the time outside, she should have been inside for about twenty minutes now.
Another half an hour to go.
She walked around in the yard, in the space, where it was nearing dusk, with a beautiful orange glow spreading across the sky, a mesmerizing sight to behold.
After admiring it for a while, she rolled up her sleeves and went into the kitchen.
She had accumulated quite a few duck eggs recently, and she decided to pickle them first, then headed over to the chicken coop to collect the eggs laid that day.
However, as she approached, she suddenly heard a ruckus inside, with chickens fluttering everywhere, feathers flying!
Su Shu’s face darkened; just moments before everything was fine, and now it had turned into a complete mess. Without a second thought, she knew who had come out.
What do you think?
