Chapter 148: Twisted Lin Murong
Chapter 148: Twisted Lin Murong
Lin Musen brought a lot of people with him, and with so many people exchanging at once, the process was quite fast.
Soon, the number on the robot’s display stopped increasing.
Lin Musen and his subordinates, pushing more than a dozen shopping carts, grandly made their way inside.
“Really nice, all this money,” Lin Murong said, looking at the number displayed on the robot with envy.
“Why am I so poor?” Lin Murong had always considered himself wealthy. Compared to the others at Sun Base, he lived well, ate well, drank well, and even his clothes were clean and tidy.
Not like the others who wouldn’t bathe for months or years, never changing their clothes and reeking of foul odors.
But the people around him, one richer than the next.
Like Chi Yan, a whole space full of resources.
Like Su Yinhe, an entire mutated supermarket.
This new friend he had just made as well was the same, so much gold and jewelry exchanged for so much money, and certainly a lot of goods bought.
Lin Murong’s heart twisted.
He became jealous.
Desires began to crawl in the shadows.
They say that such feelings can make you feel much better.
“What do you want to be so rich for?” Su Yinhe retorted.
“At least richer than Brother Chi,” Lin Murong pointed at Chi Yan.
“Well… that might take your next life.” It wasn’t that Su Yinhe wanted to crush his hopes, but she genuinely believed that Lin Murong wishing to be richer than Chi Yan would need a next life.
Chi Yan really had a lot of stuff in his space.
A great variety and quantity.
Although not as amazing as her unlimited supermarket, she thought that in this world, he was the person with the most resources next to her.
His resources could sustain a large base.
“You… you’re being… too harsh,” Lin Murong became aggravated.
“Shouldn’t you be telling me that I will eventually surpass Chi Yan? Shouldn’t you be encouraging me?”
“If I really said that, it wouldn’t be encouragement but setting you up for failure. Being not too overconfident is one thing, but being too cocky can be deadly,” Su Yinhe said honestly.
The corners of Lin Murong’s mouth twitched as he looked at Su Yinhe’s sincere face, momentarily at a loss for words.
Forget it.
This place was no longer suitable for him.
Lin Murong went to watch what Lin Musen was buying, not wishing to stay in this suffocating place.
Lin Musen’s subordinates followed his lead; they wouldn’t take anything unless he ordered them to.
Nor would their gazes wander; they kept their eyes solely on Lin Musen.
When Lin Musen went inside, he was astonished.
So many items, so many snacks.
The last time he saw so many snacks was a previous occasion.
Damn, instant noodles.
Lin Musen picked up a bag of instant noodles and, looking at the picture on it, almost drooled.
But he only took one packet and tucked it in his chest, not ordering his subordinates to load all the noodles into the shopping carts.
After taking that one packet of noodles, he continued to browse, everything looked fresh, everything tempted him to buy.
But he also knew that these were not the best, nor what he should be buying.
These were not important; the most critical things were rice, flour, grains, oil, and salt.
Lin Musen quickly found what he wanted: bags of rice and bags of flour.
When he saw them, his heart beat fast.
But he didn’t order his subordinates to start moving them yet; instead, he found the oil and salt and picked the kinds he wanted.
Hmm…
The cheapest ones.
He had no choice; he had to support the entire base.
That was the leader’s duty.
It was sad.
Lin Musen gave the order for them to start taking the varieties he had chosen.
Once those were done, they could take others.
Lin Musen still didn’t know that the goods in this supermarket were inexhaustible, and he was determined to take the cheapest ones first before the expensive ones.
He wanted to spend the least amount of money to purchase the most resources.
The gold and jewelry he had just exchanged looked like a hefty sum and would allow him to buy many items.
But he was the base leader, after all, responsible for the entirety of the base’s population.
Apple Base wasn’t large, and the number of people was small, especially compared to the official big bases.
Over a thousand people.
Over a thousand mouths—that’s no joke.
If it weren’t for Guoguo, he really couldn’t afford to feed them all.
Lin Musen wasn’t so generous as to actually support everyone at the base.
But as the base leader, when necessary, he would distribute food to the common people of the base.
For instance, during natural disasters when everyone was out of food, he would organize his subordinates to distribute provisions.
Other times, it was every person for themselves.
Not long ago, he had distributed a lot of food.
And now he was worried about how to recover those costs.
Then a supermarket appeared.
Even though he wasn’t sure if it was a trap, Lin Musen, upon seeing those items, couldn’t care less.
A trap? So be it.
We’ll see whether the fisherman’s skills are good or if the fish’s strength is greater.
Anyway, he was quite formidable.
Just as he was getting carried away, one of his subordinates suddenly called out to him.
“Boss, this… something seems off.”
Lin Musen snapped out of it.
“What’s wrong?”
“Well, it seems that we can’t finish moving it all. We just took a few bags and… a few more bags appeared.”
“Really?” Lin Musen stared intently, and sure enough, it was.
It was like a refresh.
Take something away, and soon new stock would refresh in its place.
Damn.
Lin Musen kept a close watch, and his subordinates also slowed down their pace of taking goods.
“Quicker,” Lin Musen said with dissatisfaction.
This supermarket was strange in appearance, and the things bought were also strange.
But it was all food, and no matter what, it couldn’t be ignored.
After Lin Musen spoke up, his people picked up the pace.
He watched for a long time but couldn’t figure out what was going on, so he could only tell them to keep moving.
Then he ran off to the side to look at other things.
“This green pasta looks good—looks healthy,” but it was a bit too expensive.
Too expensive, too expensive.
He was, after all, a man responsible for an entire base.
“The purple ones don’t look bad either, wow! There’s even pink pasta.” Lin Musen exclaimed as he looked at the various colorful pastas on the shelf, making quite the fuss.
His subordinates, as if accustomed to this, continued working without much of a reaction.
Lin Musen looked all he wanted but didn’t dare stray too far.
He thought he was very impressive, very cool, but he also valued his life and didn’t dare wander aimlessly.
What if the people from the supermarket took advantage of him being alone and launched a sneak attack?
Even the strongest men fear a surprise assault.
So Lin Musen could only stay nearby, not daring to stray too far from his people.
If something happened too far away, his subordinates wouldn’t be able to reach him in time—to support him.
As Lin Musen looked on, he grew hungry.
Although he hadn’t really experienced hunger, he hadn’t eaten rice or noodles in a very long time.
He found himself strangely missing it.
Holding a pack of dried noodles, Lin Musen swallowed his saliva frantically.
His subordinates, as if blind, chose to ignore their boss’s somewhat pathetic behavior.
They were used to it, truly used to it.
The boss was always this unreliable.
They had been with him for so long, they had grown accustomed to it.
While Lin Musen greedily swallowed his saliva, his subordinates moved goods nervously.
They were very fast.
The area for settling accounts on the first floor was piled up into a “mountain” again.
He hadn’t seen such a small mountain in ages—a nostalgic sight. Su Yinhe thought as he looked at the mound of rice.
What do you think?
