Chapter 298: Doomsday Train in the Tunnel
"Xiaomeng."
At this moment, Qian Dele called over his usually quiet female assistant by his side: "Try on this power armor, check the detailed specs, and see if it has identity recognition too."
Qian Dele’s words immediately reminded everyone, and Monica spoke up: “Right, if these power armors are encrypted with the personal data of those Crimson members, that could be a problem.”
"Totally~" KIKI chimed in, "Power armors of this level usually have permission settings. Even if we could crack them, there are a thousand sets here—it could take forever."
"Then let’s give it a shot first. Oh, and this pulse rifle—if we can use it, our ammo pressure will be a lot lower," said Shi Diyuan.
"Less ammo pressure, more power pressure." Lin Xian couldn’t help but add, “Still, if it works, it’s definitely way better than submachine guns.”
Qian Dele’s female assistant Xiaomeng was a tall woman. Hearing his words, she immediately nodded and stepped forward. Without a care for everyone’s eyes, she took off her outer clothes, leaving only her thin underwear, revealing a stunning figure. Then, right in front of everyone, she started putting on the power armor. At the same time, she equipped both primary and secondary weapons, a holographic night vision headset, and completed the startup. In that moment, a fully geared female mecha warrior appeared before them—tech vibes all over!
Vrrm~
A soft engine sound buzzed as the black power armor's internal systems initiated a self-check. A flurry of mechanical sounds clattered rhythmically.
“No need to unlock—can match directly!”The woman named Xiaomeng turned to everyone and said, then turned around to face the open area of the warehouse, slightly crouching into a sprint-ready stance.
At that moment, subtle white energy circuits lit up across her power armor. The actuators in her ankles, knees, waist, and joints auto-unlocked and began releasing. A crisp mechanical hum filled the air.
In the next instant, as Xiaomeng pushed off with her toes, the power armor synced and unleashed massive torque. With a loud mechanical burst, she shot out like a cheetah. Her speed kept climbing—within seconds she had dashed to the end of the warehouse, then stepped onto the wall to decelerate, crouched, and launched like a cannonball, flying dozens of meters!
“Such explosive power!” Lin Xian exclaimed in awe. From that display alone, this armor was clearly far superior to the one he was wearing!
“Wow wow wow, awesome!” KIKI was super excited. “I wanna try one too!”
“Hey, we’ve seriously hit the jackpot this time.” Shi Diyuan let out a long breath, then looked eagerly at Lin Xian. “Brother Lin, this warehouse is huge—we’ve got to clear it out!”
“Old Shi, you’re being silly. How’re you gonna carry trucks?” Qian Dele said calmly. “Did you forget we’re a train group? These trucks and aircraft... they don’t really fit us.”
Lin Xian immediately replied, “We can take everything. They’ll come in handy later. I can whip up some flatbed trailers and use metal to build basic transport carriages. We can load up the trucks and aircraft.”
These specially modified doomsday trucks and those hypersonic aircrafts that Lin Xian had been eyeing for a while—there was no way he’d leave them behind. With these aircraft, the Infinite Train would gain a pair of eyes in the sky. The best part? They could carry people. Super useful!
“Yeah, that’s a great idea!” Shi Diyuan’s eyes lit up. “Right, haul it all out first—leaving stuff like this behind would be a sin!”
Qian Dele looked at Lin Xian in surprise, only now realizing: “I almost forgot you’re a mechanical expert. My bad, this is my first time running a train convoy—I lack experience. Now that you mention it, I’m thinking of keeping two trucks for my own convoy.”
Monica’s eyes sparkled as she looked at Lin Xian, as if her gaze could devour him. She paused, then turned to Qian Dele and said, “Told you, my instincts never fail. Following Captain Lin, even big trouble turns into opportunity.”
“Hey, who compliments people like that? Gross!” KIKI cringed and frowned. “You’re not... into him, are you?”
To that, Monica just smiled seductively and said aloud, “Yup. I told your Captain Lin before—I want to join your Infinite Convoy. Little sis, do you agree to let big sis here hook up with your train?”
KIKI didn’t expect that response. Hearing Monica’s slightly magnetic tone, she rolled her eyes and said, “Aren’t we already hooked up? How else do you wanna connect?”
“Ahem ahem…”
At that, Luo Yang, Shi Diyuan, and the other guys all choked a little, expressions turning awkward.
Lin Xian’s forehead darkened. He quickly redirected, “Alright, let’s sort this out. Divide what we can, disassemble what we must, move fast. We’ve still got a lot to do, and this place isn’t exactly safe. Better get back to the train and rest up.”
“Brother Lin’s right. Let’s wrap this up—we’ve got a freak party going on above us. No time to waste.” Shi Diyuan chimed in.
Monica just smiled sweetly, glanced at Lin Xian again, then quietly joined the planning session.
After a round of discussion, the Infinite Train took 40 sets of Lone Wolf S Military Rapid-Response Power Armor, complete with weapons and power packs.
Everyone wanted Lin Xian to take more, but his train only had about 30 people, and now everyone already had a set. Any extras wouldn’t be useful. Out of consideration for everyone’s support, he took 40 sets, planning to use the rest for maintenance rotation. Even though, with his Mechanical Ability, repairs were hardly needed...
Besides that, Lin Xian also claimed one Nightstar-3 Hypersonic Aircraft and two Doomsday Armored Trucks—that was enough for him. His biggest gain this time was still AI Grace. Before leaving, he also planned to dismantle a batch of maintenance robots and instruments from the Zero Element Center to share with the other convoys—and devour the rest himself. If time allowed, he wouldn't even leave a screw behind.
In total, the Infinite Train took nearly 50 people's worth of food supplies, along with a lot of red wine, frozen seafood, steak, caviar, frozen poultry and pork, plus a bunch of rice, flour, oil, sugar, and canned goods. A massive haul.
Just like she said, Monica only took some high-end stuff like red wine. The rest—rice, flour, oil, and other essentials—were split mostly between Dragon Mountain No. 1, the Joker Convoy, and the Sun Train.
As for the weapons warehouse—out of 1000 sets of Interstellar Tier-III Combat Kits—Lin Xian took 40. Monica claimed 10 for internal upgrades. Joker and Sun Convoys took 100 sets each, plus one truck and one aircraft per convoy. Dragon Mountain No. 1 had the most people and took 350 sets, two armored trucks, and one aircraft.
That left 400 sets for the remaining 17 convoys. The last four trucks weren’t assigned yet, so they were temporarily counted as assets of the Infinite Train, to be hauled out together.
When news got out, all the convoy captains who had joined the United Train were thrilled. They thought they were just hiding underground—but ended up getting serious supplies. The power armors alone gave their combat strength a massive boost, equipping a lot of frontline fighters.
“Wow, brand new Lone Wolf power armors—and plasma pulse rifles!!”
“So much gourmet food. Never thought I’d eat real rice again...”
“Captain Lin is amazing. I feel so safe with them!”
“These weapons and gear... they’re really free?”
“Sweetie, we’ve got meds now. You’ll feel better soon.”
“Old Li, keep it down with the armor repairs. We’ve got to listen for anything in the dark.”
“Captain announced we’re having fruit cans tonight...”
...
In no time, the 15-kilometer-long train was filled with buzzing energy. In the underground tunnel, countless people carrying cold lights formed long lines, hauling supplies from the warehouse into their train cars. Many newly armored survivors were beyond excited. The whole tunnel was full of bustling movement—like a giant colony of ants relocating.
Following Lin Xian and the others’ orders, the various convoys began repairing their trains and weapons, patching damage from the Xilan City battle, encouraging their teams, and boosting morale. Many logistics teams started prepping long-lost hot meals under cold light in the darkness.
In this silent tunnel, dozens of meters underground, the 15-kilometer-long 500-carriage United Doomsday Train carefully entered a period of rest. Each carriage buzzed with soft conversations and laughter, and the air was thick with the smell of food.
On the Infinite Train, in Car No. 6—the dining car—the faint cold lights gave the interior a cozy dimness.
On the table sat steaming steaks, king crab, fresh vegetable salad with caviar, and a simple dessert made of flour and fruit preserves. It looked absolutely extravagant.
"Cheers~"
Lin Xian raised a glass of red wine, speaking in a low voice: “To surviving again and again... and to every comrade who risked their life!”
"Cheers!"
KIKI, Chen Sixuan, Shu Qin, Daluo, Lu Xingchen, Shasha, Ding Junyi, Miao Lu, Lü Chang—every member of the Infinite Train raised their glass in that moment.
“To Lin Xian!” Chen Sixuan gazed at him warmly.
“Yeah, to Lin Xian!” KIKI giggled as she raised her glass.
“To Brother Lin who blew up monsters in that big mecha!” Shasha shouted excitedly.
“Brother Xian.”
“Brother Lin.”
“Captain Lin!”
“Captain Lin!”
“Thank you, Captain Lin!” The injured Xiao Yuan stood not far from Lin Xian, raising her wine glass high. Her eyes were filled with excitement and admiration as she looked at him, her whole being radiating vitality and energy.
Lin Xian smiled warmly, raised his glass in silence, heart surging with emotion and gratitude, drinking with the others.
“To… staying alive!”
...
00:30
The underground tunnel gradually quieted down, leaving only engineers and maintenance personnel moving gently and cautiously, trying to make the most out of the short rest period to fortify the train’s defenses.
On Dragon Mountain No. 1, sparks from welding torches occasionally flashed in the tunnels. Whenever the noise got too loud, everyone in the area would pause simultaneously, lift their heads to listen and observe silently. Once confirmed there was no threat, they resumed work.
Though this cautious prep wasn’t highly efficient, everyone understood—this was the Polar Night. Opportunities like this were rare. Every second counted. Especially in a region filled with spore-laden fog, repairing even a single armor plate might save a carriage full of lives.

Inside the carriage, Lin Xian completed the scan of the newly acquired power armor set. The latest blueprints showed how precise the specs were. He had already distributed a set to everyone on the train, and the entire Infinite Train crew was thrilled, eagerly putting on the new armor and adapting to the combat mode assisted by onboard AI.
For the Infinite Train, this was a massive leap in power. Even Xiao Yuan, with an Ability Index of just 260, could now fight at Titan-level strength.
One person, however, didn’t show much interest—Ding Junyi.
To Director Ding, all her current work was research-related within the train. Lin Xian didn’t need her in combat. So unless the situation demanded it, there was no need for her to wear the armor.
Lin Xian, on the other hand, tried the armor himself. His original plan was to craft and wear the Black Hawk Armor, since it was a step above the Lone Wolf S set. But right now, his priority was building trailers to load the trucks and the Nightstar onto the rails, and he also intended to upgrade and repair the Infinite Train’s air circulation system.
There was plenty to do. Lin Xian had just taken a long nap, so he told Chen Sixuan and the others who had been guarding the train earlier to get some rest while he stayed busy in Carriage 12.
There was also another important task—AI Grace. Lin Xian called KIKI, who had also rested, to join him in figuring out how to reprogram this mysterious robot.
In the dark Carriage 12, only a cold light lamp was placed on the floor. Several metal ammo crates were filled with ammunition that Lin Xian had crafted while multitasking.
At the moment, Lin Xian sat in the shadows by the wall, with a pouty little girl clinging to his neck, her legs tightly wrapped around his waist, pinning him down. Her lips kept biting his.
Though Lin Xian was kind of enjoying it, he was also a bit speechless. After kissing for a while, he pushed her away. “Hey, is this what you meant by keeping watch?”
KIKI huffed, wrapped her arms around his neck again, and pressed her soft lips back onto his. She muttered in a commanding tone, “Don’t move. I’m just applying lip balm~ Don’t get the wrong idea.”
Lin Xian felt her awkward, wolf-like nibbling and thought, Seriously? That excuse? You didn’t even apply any balm yourself. And since when is lip balm applied like this?
They kissed a little more in the shadows until Lin Xian pushed her away again, saying seriously:
“Alright, I’ve got a lot of work to do. Where we are right now... it’s not the time for—ugh!”
Before he could finish, she locked lips with him again. Her grip tightened, a stubborn posture taking over.
“Hey!”
Lin Xian’s heart sank. He pushed the little she-wolf off for the third time and raised his voice. “Didn’t I tell you? This place isn’t safe right now. It’s not the time to drop our guard.”
Even though there weren’t any Dark Marks in the convoy, and no enemy activity for now, this underground tunnel still gave Lin Xian no peace. Above them, Yijin City loomed like a terrifying whirlpool. He couldn’t relax. He had to:
Secure all the spoils from the Eternal Depot.
Gather the resources from the Zero Element Center.
Deal with Grace—this AI, with Chu Yan’s appearance and strange behavior, still made him uneasy despite being forcibly shut down.
Finally, there was the current state of the United Train. Thirty hours wasn’t long. It wasn’t like any other break—they were operating under looming disaster. The entire convoy had to stay on edge, ready to flee.
Lin Xian’s mind was overloaded. But when he pushed KIKI away again, he noticed she had suddenly gone quiet, sitting on his lap, head lowered, lost in thought.
He looked down. Under the dim light, her beautiful eyes glimmered with moisture. She bit her lip and looked up at him with a hint of accusation.
“Why are you so dumb? Always playing the hero, showing off... and never taking me with you. What if you die?”
Lin Xian was caught off guard. “I’m doing this so we can all survive. I don’t have a choice.”
“Then can’t you stress less? Let someone else take the lead for once? We can help you too!” KIKI suddenly raised her voice.
“You are helping me—Teacher Chen, Shu Qin, Daluo, Fire Bro, Shasha, Lü Chang, Miao Lu, Director Ding, even Xiao Yuan—and you. Everyone’s risking their lives together.”
“Don’t you realize everyone’s worried about you!”
“I do!”
“Then why won’t you apply lip balm?! Don’t you know cracked lips can get infected with the zombie virus?! You’ll grow red hair, green nails, and get mushroom butt!!”
“I don’t want that either!”
“Then shut up and stop arguing with me!”
KIKI, increasingly agitated, pounced on Lin Xian again. Her lips found his once more. Lin Xian felt a warm, slick heat—fiery, insistent… and… cool.
He closed his eyes and let himself receive KIKI’s “serious concern.”
His hands wrapped around her slender waist, feeling her smooth legs tighten around him. He started to lose control, lowering his hand toward—
But before he could reach his destination, she shuddered like she’d been shocked, grabbed his hand, and pushed it back up. When he tried again, she smacked his hand as punishment for the “pervy paw.”
“Don’t move!” KIKI bit his nose and whispered in a warning tone.
Lin Xian chuckled, leaned in, and kissed her lips. “Not my fault. You started it.”
“Hmph! I did not!”
“I object, Your Honor! Who was the one clinging to me like a koala and—”
“Mmph!”
“...applying lip balm?”
“Lip balm’s no big deal. What filthy thing are you thinking of?!”
Lin Xian replied solemnly, “Nothing. This is standard procedure. Ask anyone. I’m following protocol.”
“Pfft, as if I’d believe that!”
“You don’t believe me? Well, can’t help you there.” Lin Xian shrugged. “There’s a switch on a man’s body. If you keep going with this process, the next step will happen.”
“I don’t believe you!” KIKI leaned in again, half curious, half testing.
Lin Xian’s hand moved lower—
It triggered her ticklish spot. Her face flushed, body trembled, and as his hand neared her butt, her breath caught.
In the end, the little she-wolf couldn’t beat the big bad demon. Just before Lin Xian could succeed, KIKI gritted her teeth, let go, and used her telekinesis to escape his embrace, yelling as she fled:
“In your dreams, perv!”
Lin Xian laughed, letting out a breath of relief, stood up, and changed the subject. “Come on. I’m heading to the Zero Element Center to absorb some materials. Come with me.”
“Now?” KIKI rubbed her burning cheeks, avoiding his gaze. “Didn’t you say we’d go at the end? If we shut down the machines now, there’ll be a mass die-off in there.”
“They’re mostly dead already. The rest… don’t look like they’ll make it,” Lin Xian recalled the Crimson members with white mycelium connected to their heads and replied grimly, “I’ll start with the less critical sections. Plus, there are Crimson people in there. I’m not leaving it unsupervised.”
KIKI nodded. “Alright, I’ll go with you.”
Then she remembered something else. “Oh right—Monica’s not saying she wants to join our convoy for the first time, is she? What do you think?”
Lin Xian replied with a blank face: “Not much. I don’t dislike her. Her ability and convoy are solid. She’s bold, yeah, but she’s also smooth and controlling. Not the type to take orders well. I hear her out, but I don’t take her words to heart.”
KIKI frowned slightly. “And if she really wants to join?”
“We’ll talk later.” Lin Xian didn’t overthink it. “For now, we’re on the same path. Whether she’s friend or foe... we’ll see.”
What do you think?
